Absolutely one of the best things to do on the Big Island. If you’re looking for a helicopter tour in Kona or Hilo, this is it. I brought five people with me, and from takeoff to landing, the experience was incredible. Flying over the volcanoes, lava fields, and active steam vents was unreal—you truly can’t appreciate the scale of the island until you see it from the air. Then we moved into the lush jungle and waterfalls, which felt like a completely different world. The helicopter was smooth, comfortable, and had amazing visibility. Every seat felt like a front-row view. Our pilot was outstanding—fun, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what he does. He gave great commentary on the island’s history and landscape, and the ride felt safe and controlled the entire time. What really stood out was how he personalized the end of the tour. He asked what we wanted to see on the way back, and when we told him we wanted the longer route to explore more of the island, he put together a great path with additional scenic highlights we wouldn’t have even thought to ask for. That extra effort made the experience feel custom and unforgettable. If you’re planning a Hawaii vacation, this is a must-do activity. Highly recommend this helicopter tour to anyone visiting the Big Island—you’ll be talking about it long after you leave.
