Hawaii opened travel to U.S. travelers in October 2020 and to some countries in November 2020. The pandemic is still an evolving situation, and the state of Hawaii Covid travel restrictions are undergoing constant changes in response. For example as of March 2020, COVID testing requirements currently prevent any charters between the islands – please check here for the most up to date information.

If you are undertaking Hawaii travel during COVID-19 you may be hesitant to do all the things that you would usually want to do, such as take a helicopter tour. Blue Hawaiian will always put your safety first when you make us a part of your vacation. We completely understand your hesitation and want to reassure you that, with our reasonable cancellation policy and stringent safety measures in place, you can book your tour with confidence.

What Is Blue Hawaiian’s Cancellation Policy?

Our policy states that you can cancel your booking at any time up to 24 hours before your scheduled trip and receive a full refund. Whether your plans change because of updated COVID-19 travel restrictions or for any other reason, you can call us daily between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to cancel.

We do require that you give us at least a day’s notice of your cancellation to receive the refund. If you call to cancel within that 24-hour window, or if you fail to show up at all, you  will be charged the full amount.

What COVID-19 Safety Measures Are in Place During my Flight?

We have based our Hawaii COVID 19 travel safety precautions on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Additionally, our helicopters and the public areas of our facility are disinfected according to standards set by the Helicopter Association International COVID Clean Program.

We had adopted new COVID-specific policies and procedures to keep everyone safe for the duration of the pandemic, and we ask for your cooperation with them.

Testing and Quarantine

We will service residents of Hawaii who have not traveled out of the state recently. Following current travel advisories will also service visitors who have received negative COVID-19 test results within 72 hours of departing for Hawaii or who have completed a 14-day quarantine. We will ask each member of your party to fill out a COVID prevention acknowledgement form to attest to your compliance.

Mask Requirement

We provide complimentary disposable masks and gloves, as well as hand sanitizer, to our guests. We ask that all passengers wear face masks at all times in the aircraft and on the premises.

Temperature Checks

Prior to check-in, we will perform temperature checks of all customers. You will be asked to wait 20 minutes and be rechecked if you register a temperature over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit. We cannot allow entry into the building to those who do not register a temperature below that threshold, but we will issue a full refund to any customers thus affected.

Will I Be Sharing a Helicopter?

Each helicopter seats up to six guests. If there are six in your party, you will have the helicopter all to yourself. If your party has fewer than six, you may have to share the helicopter with another party.

Seating in our helicopters is according to our weight and balance program approved by the FAA. To the extent possible, we seat couples and families in the helicopter side-by-side. All the helicopter seats are front-facing and there are no cabin partitions or other obstructions that would affect your view. Since the seats do not face each other you do not need to worry about other passengers breathing in your face.

Booking a Private Charter with Blue Hawaiian

We are confident that the safety measures we have in place are rigorous to reduce your risk of COVID-19  infection to nearly zero while you are our passenger. Nevertheless, if you are still uncomfortable sharing the helicopter with strangers, there are two other options available to you. You can either charter your own private helicopter tour, or you can buy out a regular tour. Buying out a tour means that you purchase all the passenger seats on the helicopter even if you only intend to use a few of them. This ensures that there will be no other passengers in the helicopter apart from your party.
The approval of effective COVID vaccines gives us hope that the pandemic may soon be over. Nevertheless, thanks to the precautions we have taken to ensure your safety, you do not necessarily have to wait until the end of the pandemic to book your helicopter tour in Hawaii. If you have any additional questions please review our FAQs or contact Blue Hawaiian today and our team will be ready to assist with any questions or concerns you may have.
