Amazing views, smooth ride, excellent service! Scott was our pilot, he was great! Best experience on the island. We'll do it again when we come back.
When a friend found out we were going to Kauai, his recommendation was "go all out because you'll never know when you will be back". In my opinion, a helicopter Tour is a "must-do" in order to "go all out". Yes, it is pricey, but it is so worth it. One of the things that sets Blue Hawaiian apart is the ability to converse with your pilot and other passengers through a microphone. Our pilot, Barrett, was very competent and safe. He had knowledge of the entire island. Because so much of Kauai can not be accessed by roads or even foot (or is private land), this is the best way to see and appreciate her beauty. 5 stars!
We had a great time on our Circle of Fire + Waterfalls tour with Adolph. He was a great pilot -- getting us very good views of Pu'u 'O'o and also where the lava is currently running into the ocean but keeping all the movements very smooth. I didn't have any dark shirts in what I'd packed to wear for our vacation (light colors can cause reflections that can be a problem for the pilots), but Blue Hawaiian lent me a polo to wear on the flight. They also had cool, damp towels (it gets a little hot in the helicopter!) and cold water for us back at the airport, which was a nice touch.
We booked an excursion through Celebrity Cruises to go on the blue Hawaiian helicopter tour over the active volcano. It was an outstanding excursion and we're so happy that we booked it! We got great pictures and our navigator did a wonderful job of showing us the big island. It was an experience we will never forget! ?
Everyone was so friendly and professional. After checking in we watched a safety video and then we were all loaded into the helicopter. Our pilot, Scott, was very knowledgable and friendly. The island is breathtakingly beautiful.
We decided to take Blue Hawaiian Helicopters because of their solid reputation and we were not disappointed at all. They have a great facility to check you in, don't wear any light clothing if affects picture taking due to reflections off of helicopter windows, can't wear any hats, if you bring a jacket you must wear it can't hold or wrap it around you, can't carry any purses or bags with you, can leave in car or they have lockers, cell phones and cameras are a must for picture taking and you will be taking lots of pics. The helicopters are clean and top of the trade models, our experienced pilot was from Kauai and gave a great narrative of the island and its scenery. The ride was smooth and comfortable and you get to see a lot of the beautiful island of Kauai especially the beautiful and majestic mountains, waterfalls and Waimea canyon. Highly recommend all visitors to Kauai to treat themselves to this breathtaking experience. Go Blue!
This tour was amazing. Geoffrey was our pilot and he was great. Never felt unsafe and he was very informative and personable. He was born and raised there so he definitely knows the place. You must take this tour. I'll remember the sights for the rest of my life. The Napali coast is beautiful as is the canyon and other coastlines. You can't go to Kauai and not do this!!!
Before coming to Kauai, a friend of mine had recommended doing a helicopter tour to truly see the island, and she was right! There are a lot of helicopter tours on Kauai, but what we loved about Blue Hawaiian was the quality of service, the experience of the flight crew and the ground staff and the overall commitment to ensuring you have the best time on your vacation possible! The views were just amazing ... on an island like Kauai, where so much of the land is inaccessible by road, it really is the only way to truly see the beauty of the landscape up close. It was so picturesque ... i can't imagine going to Kauai and not doing a tour like this! Thanks to the friendly staff and crew!!
I was not sure which helicopter company to choose and picked blue Hawaiian because theirs looked nicer - best choice ever. We had a wonderful pilot who explained everything with historical background in a fun and relaxed way. We saw the lava entering the ocean and the waterfalls. The moment I knew I had made the right choice was when we got back and a helicopter from the other company was there too. So glad I picked blue Hawaiian
Worth the money to take the helicopter ride over Mt. Kileau.Jeremy our pilot he was Excellent showing us the cater with the lava flowing in the cater and into the ocean ? .Showed us old lava flows, took us over different waterfalls.Answered any questions we had.Our helicopter ride was a hour long,Saw a lot in that time.? Mahalo
Sitting is forward for all 2 in the front with the pilot and 4 in the back. Sitting chosen for you by weight. Our pilot was friendly and did a great job explaining Not one bad seat since the glass is all around. A Must while in the big Island
I've experienced a few helicopter tours prior to this one so the thrill of the flight was not there for me. What was thrilling however was to fly the route that the Japanese air force flew in their raid on the American Forces and specifically to circle over Pearl Harbour and all the ships in the port. Very safe and thorough operators.
When we got to Blue Hawaiian Helicopters for our 45 minute round island tour, a very rude receptionist did not interact with us whatsoever. People who came in after us got checked in before us, which was extremely frustrating. Off to a bad start, we were instructed that the seating assignment was determined by a computer based on weight, which means that you can't guarantee yourself a window seat. So, if you're looking for guaranteed great pictures and a great view, this is not the place for you. Upon takeoff time, we were instructed to go to the helicopter when our seating number was called. After we were in the helicopter, we were given a headset and a microphone to ask the pilot questions throughout the flight. The pilot often talked in her microphone to give us information about the places we were flying over. When nobody was talking, music played in the headphones. It was really nice having the Jurassic Park music as you were looking down to where it was filmed. The helicopter tour in general was very beautiful. It was interesting watching Hawaii from a bird's eye view, but most of the things we saw you could see for much cheaper on an island tour on the ground, such as the all of Oahu tour by Roberts Hawaii, which I took. Please see that review for more information. Overall, the helicopter tour was pricey compared to other activities that you could do around the island. ***THUMBS UP IF YOU THOUGHT THIS REVIEW WAS HELPFUL PLEASE***
I was a reluctant participant as I was worried I might feel sick in the air. I had no need for concern. Our pilot Marty handled the helicopter so smoothly from beginning to end. The scenery is breath taking. Flying over the coast only the day after we did a boat cruise in the same area gave us a unique view of the same beautiful coast line. This is a must do!
This was the highlight of our Kauai stay. We did the boat tour of the Napali coast before the helicopter flight, and in many ways preferred the helicopter tour. The helicopter gives you a 360 view of places you cannot access by boat or car, including waterfalls, rain forest, Waimea canyon and the Napali coast. You would have to hike to very remote places to get these views. It really gives you the scope of the whole island from a bird's eye view, while the boat tour gives a very limited view looking up at the Napali cliff side. Another plus: It's a very smooth ride, while the boat involved huge bumpy waves and seasickness. So I recommend saving your money up for the helicopter rather than the other tours. The Blue Hawaiian company was highly recommended. We were told it was the best of the helicopter companies and our experience was very good. Many of the pilots are retired military vets. I visited in September 2013.
