Unbelievable views, once in a lifetime experience for us
Kauai - Lihue

My wife and I recently stayed on Kauai for our anniversary. We decided to try a few things that we had never done before. Riding in a helicopter certainly qualified! I am a very cautious person, and the idea of getting in one these things never was appealing to me. I know the statistics don't support my fears, so I convinced my wife to try it. I'm so glad that we did. The staff did an excellent job with the safety briefing, and explained what we could expect aboard. That didn't prevent me from being extremely nervous when I first got onboard. As we took off, I quickly felt better as the ride was much smoother than I anticipated. Not nearly as bumpy as what I have experienced on an airplane, it felt like we were just floating through the sky. The views were amazing, and something I will never forget. The Waimea canyon, coast line, waterfalls, etc are almost too beautiful to describe. I can safely say that I could never have seen most of this any other way. We dropped down into canyons, hovered near waterfalls, and flew just off the shore of the northern coast. My only regret is not being able to do it again soon. Highly, highly recommended.

I got chills!
Kauai - Lihue

I had always wanted to ride in a helicopter. My parents suggested we take a ride with Blue Hawaiian, as they had done so before while visiting Kaua'i. So glad I took the trip! At the BH office, you check in at the deck and have a seat. Before departure to the landing pad, you by watching a safety video and get belted up with a flotation device. Then a staff member drives you to Lihu'e heliport. You lined up according to your seat number (there are 6 seats in all - plus the pilot - I was fortunate enough to sit in the co-pilot seat!). Once ready to board, the same staff member instructs you to enter the chopper. The ground crew gets you buckled in and ready for takeoff. There are headphones to listen to music as well as listen to the pilot's narrative about the island. There is also a microphone in the cockpit to ask questions. Large windows for everyone to see the island during flight. The flight was smooth, no turbulence, not too much engine or blade noise in the cockpit, and the ride around the island lasted for about 30-40 minutes. No wonder they call it the "cadillac of helicopter rides". Our pilot, Brandyn, took us around the airport, over Waimea Canyon, to the Napoli Coast, around the island to the coffee fields, to the resort areas, and up and close to some beautiful waterfalls. I was in awe! And the weather was perfect for picture taking! The only thing that really bummed me out was our recorded video of our flight experience didn't come out. I wasn't very happy with that and the staff wasn't at all sympathetic. I'm sure there was nothing they could have done but at least they could have offered another souvenir at a discount for the problem. Thank goodness we got to take pictures! I'd fly with Blue Hawaiian again.

Good Tour, but the crammed us in there
Kauai - Lihue

The Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour was a good way to see Kauai. They were professional and friendly. The pilot was very knowledgeable about the island and was able to answer all our questions. The only thing I didn't like was that they seated the max. number of people (8 including the pilot). It was very tight in there. It was hard to even turn your head sideways. I think the price for the time in the air was a good deal and would recommend it to others. Hopefully the don't always fill up all the seats.

In Kauai this is a must do!!
Kauai - Lihue

If you are visiting the island do not miss going on a helicopter tour. Blue Hawaiian is the Ferrari of helicopter tours. Barrett our pilot was very professional and since he is also from Kauai he had a ton of information. The helicopters are outstanding and extremely comfortable. Best money I have spent on an excursion in years. Two thumbs up.

What a great thrill, Blue Hawaiian is Awesome!
Kauai - Lihue

Our 55 minute tour around the Kauai was simply awesome. Nose first dives into the canyons and scraping the tops of the mountains. Even on a cloudy day Kauai was beautiful. Our pilot Nathan was very friendly, remembering all of our names, and very informative. If you debating between things to do on Hawaii and this is on your list, end the debate and fly Blue Hawaiian.

The Best
Kauai - Lihue

I've never been in a helicopter. The morning we went wasn't the best of weather. But we had friends from Texas who wanted to go ... so we went. Most fun I've had since moving to Honolulu four years ago. Nathan, our pilot, and a former Black Hawk pilot, was great. Seeing Waimea Canyon and the Na Pali coastline from the air ... all the waterfalls, etc was breathtaking. And the big surprise for me ... peaceful. I could have stayed in the Canyon for the full hour. Peaceful. Nathan's commentary and choice of music was perfect. I'm saving up my money and bringing my kids ... they would love it.

A must do in Hawaii
Kauai - Lihue

We just returned from Maui. This was our 3rd trip to Hawaii. We have done The Big Island, Maui Spectacular, Oahu, and did the West Maui & Molokai last week. This is a first class operation and the only way to see ALL of Hawaii.

Comfort, Safety, Professionalism -Who could ask for more??
Kauai - Lihue

This is a great operation. The helicopters are comfortable and well maintained, and the pilot and staff were very professional. Our pilot had been a news helicopter pilot in Seattle, and he was very knowledgable about Hawaii and Kauai. We could not find any discount coupons for this company, but they are clearly THE BEST operation around, so I guess they have no incentive to discount their services. Being a pilot and and aircraft mechanic, I can say they excell in safety. Top honors all around for Blue Hawaiian Helicopters.

Fantastic
Kauai - Lihue

We have done several helicopter trips so are not new to this type of tour. This was fantastic. Our pilot was Jimmy, and he gave us a wonderful flight and a wonderful tour. I think they are as safe as you can get, not to decry other operators we did not try, and we really enjoyed our hour's flight over Kauai. Their after care is excellent also. I shan't go into how they helped me out but just say it was way above what was expected of them.

Do not hesitate to take this tour!
Kauai - Lihue

With some apprehension we were pulled and pushed to take this one hour tour by helicopter. I now want to know, why did I ever wait? Even though it was a bit windy, our pilot Barry handled the chopper to make things as smooth as possible. His knowledge of the sights and history are beyond compare.

amazing, Incredible experience
Kauai - Lihue

Wow! What a great company. Everyone was very friendly, funny and just made us feel at ease. Our pilot, Nathan, was obviously a skilled and professional pilot, but friendly and personable, too. And, okay, was it worth the money? Absolutely the best money spent on the trip. I have taken helicopter rides in Sedona, the Big Island and Maui and this was the best one. You HAVE to do it. Enjoy the most spectacular sites on earth.

We did this tour in Kauai in October 2012, well worth every penny. The crew were amazing, very friendly and very knowledgable. You get to see places you cannot see by car or boat. Well recommended 5 stars all round, made our trip to Hawaii!

Incredible!!!
Kauai - Lihue

We just did our very first tour of Kauai. Nathan was our Pilot. He was informative, friendly and knowledgable. He answered almost all our questions before we even asked, although any question we did have he answered no problem! Would we do this again....hum, YEAH. So many beautiful places, mother nature at her best. Nathan made sure everyone was given the opportunity to get lots and lots of incredible pictures. Loved it so much, just got off the phone with family telling them it's a MUST next visit. All the staff is friendly. Great job to all of them.

One of the highlights of our trip!
Kauai - Lihue

We thoroughly researched all the helicopter tours available on Kau'ai and chose Blue Hawaiian. It was truly a highlight of our trip! We checked in 30 minutes prior to our flight at 2pm at a small shopping center close to Lihue airport. After a safety briefing and video, we were shuttled over to Lihue airport with several other passengers. The helicopter holds 6 passengers and the pilot very comfortably. The pilot and two passengers in the front and 4 passengers in the back. Seating is arranged based on each person's weight. But even if you sit in the back seat, the views are incredible. Don't wear white or bright colored clothing, as you will get the reflection in the photos that you take!! Our flight was just under one hour and our Capitan was very knowledgable. Everyone wears a headset and microphone so you make ask questions and communicate. It is best that you book your flight prior to leaving home, and, be advised that your flight may be cancelled due to bad weather. I would suggest taking your flight early in your vacation and be flexible in case you need to be rescheduled. Although we took a lot of amazing photos, we purchased the video for $25. The helicopter's cameras are attached outside and inside so you get a great perspective of the flight and get to re-live the experience. You may view the video prior to purchasing which cuts out any chance of being disappointed with your video. There are bathroom facilities at the check-in office. Other than your camera, no other carryons are allowed. You may safely store your camera bags and purses at the check-in office. Blue Hawaiian was a very professional outfit that I would highly recommend to anyone!

Take this tour
Kauai - Lihue

This is our third trip to the island of Kauai and wanted to see those spots we've missed out on. The choice of Blue Hawaiian was easy with their spot running on the local network and National Geographic choosing them. Nathan our pilot was professional and informative. He was knowledgeable of the islands history and landmarks. The views offered by the helicopter cannot be seen any other way.The Blue Hawaiian staff was warm, helpful and very professional. On a side note for photographers, wear dark clothing, turn off flash on the camera. Bring a mid range telephoto.
