We took a trip in their 6 person kelicopter. Each passenger had headphones so we could hear the pilot explain the sights. Since it had rained the waterfalls were going strong including in the old volcanic crater, Kilohana. We go close and personal. We flew over the middle of the island to the Waimea Canyon and to the Na Pali Coast. We saw several locations of movies with the green interior of the island. Expensive trip but worth it. Very stable flight.
Very cool adventure. From safety briefing to the engaging pilot (tour guide) the experience was first class. Our pilot gave a great commentary of what we were seeing, and was welcome to questions through out the flight. We got to see lava in the volcano and some amazing water falls. The helicopter was very comfortable. Very well run trip
When people say you can do most of this by driving, they are dead wrong. Yes, you can drive to a couple of waterfalls near Hilo and to the park to see a bit of the lava flow, but there is nothing to compare the Kohala Coast Adventure helicopter trips to on the Big Island. Do this, you will not be disappointed. The Volcano tour is nice, but nothing copare with the trip thru the valleys to falls of the Northeast Kohala Coast. These falls are over 2000 ft. high and the helicopter flies right up to them. It is the closest I've ever gotten to anything like this, one of the most beautiful sites on the planet. Yes, this is expensive, but if this is your only trip to the Big Island, do this. If this the one thing you're to splurge on, do this. If it's this or a snorkeling boat, do this. I cannot recommend this enough.
This was a must-do attraction for us!!! Worth every penny of the expensive amount. Do the "Big Island Spectacular" and you will not be disappointed!!!! Greg (our pilot) was amazing and it was a terrific experience. Would have been disappointed if we missed out on it!
On our 6 day, 6 night visit to Waikiki, this was by far the best memory we will have (and we did a lot of fun things.) We made our reservation through a kiosk outside the Embassy Suites. It was $410 for two adults. We were picked up in front of the hotel and delivered to and from the airport. The staff was terrific! Our pilot, Adam was informative, fun and took pains to make sure each seat in the copter had good photo ops, although the center back seat might be a little more challenging for photos. They record everything that is said in the headsets and have video of your flight that they make into a memory card or blue-ray disc for you for $25. My advice would be to take some dramamine before your flight. I know I get motion sick so I took some and I was fine, my girlfriends,(who never usually have a problem with it) didn't and they both got sick. One even had to use the airsick bags twice! It's too expensive and too wonderful of an adventure to have to be sick and not enjoy it (although even they said they would do it again).
We were gifted this trip and while excited weren't sure it was worth the hefty price tag - we were totally wrong it is worth every penny and I would not hesitate to do it again on my own dime. Our pilot Julie was so friendly and knowledgeable and just all around charming/charismatic. You saw so much in the island and from such a stunning viewpoint, it just wouldn't be possible to cover all this on land. It ended up being the highlight of our trip. We also purchased the video on a SD card - it was only $25 which I thought was quite reasonable and very well done. It cuts from the gorgeous scenery to inside the helicopter which was nice, got a few nice shots of my boyfriend & I grinning at each other over what we were seeing which was quite special and a nice touch. Definitely worth the money to purchase it.
This was a highlight of a trip to Oahu and would definitely recommend it to anyone. I was apprehensive because I'm afraid of heights and went for my husband but am SO glad we went! We had a blast and our pilot, Loren, was GREAT! He was knowledgeable and an all around nice guy-a sure asset to the company. Don't miss seeing the island with Blue Hawaii!
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because of the cost of the tour. Noah, our pilot was great. He was very gentle with us and had no problem with nausea. The vistas are spectacular and not describable with words. Volcano, coastline, waterfalls and canyons all up close and personal. If you can afford it sign up and go for it. Best part of our vacation..
The pilot was great and it gave a terrific view of the island. However, the staff left something to be improved upon. My husband did not feel well after getting off the helicopter. They were not prepared for this except by having vomit bags in the helicopter. After the tour, they gave us a video. Since we spent approximately $1,000 and there were two couples, I asked for a 2nd DVD and was told they couldn't since we came together. Really, $1000 and two grown couples, they couldn't give another $3 DVD. Finally, they came and gave us another one but were very snotty about it. Not sure if they are the only ones on the island but would look for another carrier. Owner may want to educate staff on customer service. Also, I was not comfortable with the staff 'watching' my purse - no lockers.
AWESOME ..... Adam, our pilot, was very friendly and full of information. Great tour...will definitely tell others about this. Thank You.
This is our second trip with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and can't say enough about the staff, pilots, equipment and unbelievable tour that they provide. It is well worth the price and some areas of Kauai can only be seen from the air. Only comment is a few of my photographs had reflections from other passengers, but that should be expected with such a large viewing area.
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters picked us up from the pier, From the very beginning of the trip they were friendly and professional. Our pilot, Barrett, was very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. The views were spectacular. He took us places that you would never be able to see from land. You have to make this trip!:)
Craig our pilot was skilled and knew exactly what he was talking about. LIttle pricey, however it was definitely worth the cost. The staff has the patience with even the difficult customers and are truly real "Pro's" at trying to make everyone have an excellent experience. The ride it self was truly out of this world. The day before we had done the Napali coast in a Catamaran "Capt. Andys" so when we were flying over we could see the boats out on the ocean and it gave us another perspective and it brought our experiences to "life" and made us remember how much we had seen and done. Thank you to all of the staff at Blue Hawaiian for giving my wife and I a truly memorable experience. Some Tips: 1. Wear Dark Clothing (still wear shorts as long as you have a tan) but wear dark cloths so that they don't reflect on the windows as you take pictures. 2. Be respectful to the staff as they are trying to share with you how to make your experience safe as well as memorable. 3. If you take a go pro don't bring it on a stick (they won't let you). I took my GoPro with me but put it on a hand held pod, worked great and battery lasted the entire trip. 4. Go to the bathroom right before they load you up (my wife took this real serous, i think she went 4 or 5 times). 5. Don't drink to many liquids before your flight (see number 4.)
Just returned from the true highlight of our visit to Kauai - the Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour with Barrett, our pilot! Barrett was friendly, warm, personable and very knowledgeable about the island. His narrative was interesting and enjoyable, and his smooth handling of the helicopter made the ride just perfect. Thank you, Blue Hawaiian, for the wonderful memories of this beautiful island!
We booked a helicopter flight with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters on Kaua'i, for 12 September. Barrett was our pilot. We had a spectacular morning for our flight and the experience was made all the more special by Barrett. His love for this island, his knowledge & information shared with us, his passion, all shone through during our time with him. Barrett was considerate of all his passengers, ensuring we all were able to see, photograph & appreciate his island home. I cannot speak highly enough of my experience, our wonderful pilot & this beautiful island. Kaua'i is magnificent. We will definitely be back to spend some time on this island (we're already planning the next visit). Thank you Blue Hawaiian Helicopters & thank you Barrett.
