Wow! This is the only way to see all of Kauai--from above with a great pilot! There are so many outstanding, beautiful, gorgeous, eye-popping, awe-inspiring (insert any positive superlative you can think of) places to see on this helicopter tour that you just can't get to any other way. If you don't do it you're going to kick yourself! Try to schedule in your first couple of days on the island so you can scope out where you might want to try to go back to via car/hiking, etc.
Geoffrey was a wonderful pilot and guide for our amazing experience. His knowledge and expertise made this an unforgettable trip for us! Mahalo!
My husband and I did this trip the day after we arrived on Kauai. Our pilot Marty was great and the scenery was just stunning. Just when you think you've seen the best view another one comes around the corner. The highlight would have to be going right into Mount Waiʻaleʻale crater and seeing the beautiful waterfalls. Yes it's expensive but well worth it. 2 years ago we took the family on a flight on the Big Island and we were disappointed - it rained and we didn't see any volcanic activity, but Kauai was much better.
Ryan was our pilot. He was awesome. We toured west Maui and Maliki. It was a great trip. Everyone should go. We had a great time.
This is the way memories are made. A sunny day flying around Ohau, with the most accurate information from the flight crew. Showing us the things we want to see, those things only seen from the air vantage point. Pearl Harbor, Dimond Head, the surf, the beaches, only from the sky did it allow us to get full appreciation of the area.
Second time on the Big Island with Blue Hawaiian. Take the Eco Star because of more room and bigger windows to see and photos. Also take the Big Island Spectacular Tour. Saw molten lava flowing out of new vent this time. Great when the volcano has been more active. Also you get to see the valleys and waterfalls of the North Kohala coast which is really spectacular.
Four of us went on the Big Island Spectacular helicopter tour, and we loved every minute of it. Our pilot was Noah, and he was laid back, had a good sense of humor and was very informative. I am a big freak about lava. I'm fascinated by it. So I really wanted to see some active lava flows. The lava was not very active the day of our tour, but the lava flow area was very interesting. We did see some red stuff, and also saw where the lava was burning the edge of the forest as it eats up everything in its path. The valleys and waterfalls were breathtaking. Flying into the lush valley and getting up close to the waterfall was unbelievable. I highly recommend this tour and Blue Hawaii.
We took a tour up the Kohala coast. This was my first time in a helicopter and I wasn't sure what to expect. The scenery was quite different from up in the air. This tour allowed us to see waterfalls and features that you can't see, unless you backpack into the wilds and camp. If you can, wait until there has been some rain. This causes the waterfalls to run in a beautiful, dramatic fashion. Our pilot was very good and kept the helicopter steady, even when buffeted by drafts off the cliffs. I would do this again!
If you do one thing while in Kauai, go on this trip! The landscapes and views we saw were fantastic and can only be truly enjoyed from the air. Important note: in order to take good pictures I recommend wearing dark clothes including dark pants. If you do not, your light clothes or legs will be reflected in the window and will show up on your pictures.
This was great for the whole family. Kids were in awe the whole time. Grandparents were worried about motion sickness but didn't feel a thing. Steve helped us and he was great. Pilot Marty was amazing. He answered all the kids, parents and grandparents questions. Helicopter was clean and very calm and steady. Totally amazing. Great crew. Not scary at all.
My daughter and I took the tour while the boys in our family went fishing. There are many parts of the island that you can only see by air, so we truly appreciated this tour. The pilot, Craig, was very professional, personable, and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the tour and the information about the island. I definitely recommend this tour.
This was my first time aboard a helicopter and with two small kids, ages 6 and 9, I wasn't sure how it would turn out. The result...pure awesomeness! The helicopter was mostly a smooth ride and none of us had any issues with the ride. The pilot/guide did a great job navigating and narrating our trip and it is truly the best way to see the most beautiful parts of Kauai (since the majority of what we saw can't be seen by car or boat). I would definitely do this again and would like to explore the big island by helicopter to see Kilauea (volcano activity). The video of the ride, which includes video of us in the helicopter along with the spectacular scenery was only $25, which I thought was very reasonable.
This was the most amazing travel experience of my life! Our pilot, Marty, was an excellent guide as we flew over the most scenic vistas on the garden island. The flight was flawless and will be a wonderful memory of our visit to Kauai.
This was our second trip with Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tours. Our pilot was Geof and he did a magnificent job of explaining everything that we were seeing. We never felt unsafe during the trip and he did everything he could to ensure that everyone on the helicopter saw everything there was to see. We circled the entire island and spent about an hour in the air. We saw places that could only be seen from a helicopter, including many places where movies and TV shows were filmed. It truly was amazing to see this island from the air. They offer a DVD of your trip after you land, which includes any conversations/questions that were asked during the trip. It's only $25 and it takes video of your actual trip so if you missed getting a picture of something they do it for you. This was a little expensive, but worth every penny for the experience.
This helicopter tour is unforgettable. No matter where you sit on the helicopter, you are guaranteed spectacular views. I had no problem with motion sickness and I am very sensitive. Do the Big Island Spectacular! It is well worth the money and you will get great shots and a comprehensive tour. You will be provided with bose headphones and there is great air conditioning on the state of the art helicopter!
