Worth the investment
Big Island - Waikoloa

Our tour was fantastic. Noah was a great pilot! Our original tour was cancelled due to weather but the group at Blue Hawaiian Helicopters made sure to get us in the very next day (our last day on the island). If we would not have been able to reschedule they did offered a full refund. This company truly seems to care about the experience and it is worth it!

I was a bit nervous, but the staff was just wonderful. We had an unforgettable time. Our pilot was very well informed and it was breathtaking and informative.

Worth Every Cent!!
Big Island - Waikoloa

My wife and I wanted to see the volcano and lava and this is the only way. The two hour tour is pricey but worth every $$. Scott, our pilot, was professional and made sure everyone had the same great view. Weather canceled one trip but Blue Hawaiian worked to book us the next day and success....blue skies, volcano, lava, great coast lines and magnificent valleys. Special was the hot lava at the volcano eruption site and our circling around Kilauea Caldera. This flight gives you a sense of the island that is not possible at ground level..

Must do
Big Island - Waikoloa

We did the Blue Island Spectacular which is a two hour helicopter tour. If you can possibly fit this into your trip to the Big Island you should They take you over the volcano to see the lava flow, over the coast and then back through the valley to see the waterfalls. We were told it is a little different each time but we saw lava at the volcano, surface lava flow, over 10 whales as well as beautiful landscape and beaches. Our pilot, Tom was fantastic! He answered all of our questions and was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Since it was such a beautiful day, he even let our tour run over the original two hours by a bit.

Outstanding
Big Island - Waikoloa

Our initial flight was cancelled due to weather, Blue Hawaiian worked hard to make sure we could go later in the week. When we finally go to go, it was breath taking! We did the 2 hour Big Island Adventure. Our pilot Sean was even excited by the amount of flowing lava we got to see. We even were able to see a B-18 bomber that had crashed after WW2.

Worth the ride !
Big Island - Waikoloa

Proffesional and worth the money. You will not get to see what you do from the helicopter from a car. ITs a great experience.

Wonderful tour of the Island
Big Island - Waikoloa

We took the 2-hour tour, which covered the volcanoes and the Kohala Coast. It was expensive, but well worth it. The staff was very considerate of my elderly mother, taking her out to the tarmac on a golf cart. The A-star helicopter was not as comfortable as the Eco-star we had on our Kauai trip, but we felt quite safe with our pilot Scott. We saw hot lava at the volcano eruption site, but could not fly directly over Kilauea Caldera as it is in a no fly zone. While flying over the ocean, we saw several whales breaching and slapping their tails. It was an exciting adventure that I would do again.

If you only have time for one adventure...this is it.
Big Island - Waikoloa

This is expensive. But it is a "should not miss" item. If there was only one activity I could do in my time on this Island, this would be it. The views of the lava, valleys and coast were astoundingly beautiful and we saw lots of whales playing with their babies from the air. The pilot was very professional - he engaged well with the group and made the tour personal (and funny); answered our many questions and was considerate of those who might have otherwise gotten motion sick. Exceptional service. Bring sunglasses, wear sunscreen and dark clothes (to avoid reflection) and if it is sunny, know that even with AC it will get pretty warm up there. You cannot wear hats or bring other bags etc. They have lockers for you to put your personal belongings in.

Very impressed!
Big Island - Hilo

These people know how to run an airline! Had a mid-day 50 minute Circle of Fire tour booked on our day of arrival. Very professional and friendly greeting on arrival. Went through the safety film and boarding protocols. Very safety oriented. Took off to very uncertain skies, flew for 10 minutes, and turned around ...Flight cancelled due to rain! Complete refund offered, no questions asked. We elected to book 2 days later, and had a great flight. Great weather, and lots to see. NOTE: you do not fly over the volcano (It's a no-fly zone.) You do fly over the flowing lava, further down from the volcano, where it is engulfing a forest, and a housing development, and where it has entered the sea in earlier eruptions. What you actually see depends on the lave flow occurring while you are there, and this is unpredictable and variable. We flew out to sea looking for whales, and back over some beautiful waterfalls. Yes, it's expensive, but we thought it was worth it. The entire operation is very aware that you are spending big dollars, and could be spending it elsewhere.

Circle of Fire Tour
Big Island - Hilo

We did the helicopter tour that flew over the Pu'u O'O vent of Kialuea volcano. Rowina was on the ground and was exceptionally helpful. Very friendly and gave some advice for local visits. Our pilot Coleen was equally friendly and funny. Along the way she pointed out places to visit and points of interests(we took her up on the Maku'u Farmers Market(Sundays only in Pahoa). She was informative of the past and current lava flows. Unfortunately the flow had stopped going in to the ocean. We did see the flow in the forrest. She did ensure all sides of the aircraft got to view the same points of interest. Afterwards we headed to view so many waterfalls in a small area (wow). The flight was an hour, but very cool. It helps to do this early in your stay in order to scope out other things to do.

What a view!
Big Island - Hilo

This one hour ride is something you will never forget. Seeing the volcano, it's extent, and how it is actually burning the edge of the rainforest was amazing. Our pilot and guide, Colleen was wonderful. The only thing I would change is the in-flight banter among the passengers. It felt like it was for the purpose of the video(available for purchase after the ride.) I would have preferred quiet just to absorb and experience this wonder.

Amazing Flight
Big Island - Hilo

While on our port stop in Hilo while on our cruise we had booked a tour called the Circle of Fire plus Waterfalls with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. They picked us up at the cruise ship terminal and took us to the airport. After a safety video we were put into groups for the different choppers. Mark was our pilot on our six passenger Eco-Star helicopter. Once buckled in we took off out over the lava fields, the views were just amazing with just a slight haze from the volcano. Mark showed us where towns once stood and how the locals were starting to rebuild on the lava fields. He flew over the red hot lava flows and vents where the lava was breaking through. It is hard to believe that mother nature has so much power. Mark flew us around different waterfalls then back to the airport. This is a must do when you visit the Big Island.

AWESOME Helicopter Ride!
Big Island - Hilo

This was a highlight of our vacation. We took the new Saddle Road over from Waikoloa Beach to Hilo Airport, which was fun in and of itself. Then on to our flight! Check in was quick and easy. Our pilot, Tim, was both funny and informative, and patiently answered our budding scientists' questions (what's the temperature? how does it flow?). It was a great day weather-wise, so in addition to seeing the lava flows, we also got to see some of the Hilo-side amazing waterfalls. We took our two children ages 7 and 5 and they were just awestruck. Excellent outing and well worth it.

Truly professional service, wonderful experience
Big Island - Hilo

Wendy had never been in a helicopter before, and I had never flown over an active volcano before so this was a bit of a no-brainer for us. We chose the Eco-star, a one hour trip over volcanoes and waterfalls - the copter is new, in excellent condition, Scott flew us, and knew us all by name before we climbed on. The music was a little corny but I still couldn't keep the smile off my face. Service was excellent, safety job 1, and customer satisfaction a close second. These guys are an award-winning outfit, and it's not hard to see why.

You don't really see inside volcano
Big Island - Hilo

Wish we had read all reviews first, or that they explained you can't really fly over actual volcano ( like it shows on picture!) yes I agree they are very safe, have good pilot/tour guide. And the red lava flows and town rebuilding and waterfalls cool. We enjoyed it but were sadly a little disappointed after spending $1000 dollars.
