Having never travelled by helicopter before my wife and I were just a little apprehensive about taking the Maui whole island trip but there was no need at all. The ground staff were cheerful and very helpful whilst at the same time efficiently performing the essential safety guidance. The 60 minute trip was outstanding and the views breathtaking. Our pilot Chase handled the craft superbly allowing us to click away with our cameras. A nice touch as we were hovering over the peaks and waterfalls was listening to the soundtrack of Jurassic Park... brilliant. This wasn't a cheap trip by any means but one which we felt was worth every penny (or dime) and it will linger long in our memory of Hawaii.

I was hesitant about booking this due to the cost ($200 each) but let me say, this is probably the best money I have ever spent on an attraction. The service offered from the moment you are collected from your hotel to the moment you are returned is first class. The staff are friendly, helpful and make you feel very welcome. Then there is the helicopter ride which is out of this world. Our pilot was an ex USAF helicopter pilot who gave a very informative and helpful narrative during the flight on all of the sights etc. He went out of his way to show things that I am sure many other miss. This was a wonderful experience that really made our holiday! Make sure you buy the video at the end of the trip, a bargain at $40!

The perfect way to see volcanoes and lava fields, a viewpoint only seen from the air. If your looking for a memorable experience , this company is top notch!

Blue Hawaiian delivered one of the best experienced i've ever had. Flying over the volcanoes and water fall was just amazing. I'll never forget it. Great service and fantastic commentary while we were up in the air. We were able to take photos from our cameras and iPhones and were also able to purchase a dvd of our flight. Brilliant!

We were very happy with our helicopter ride over the volcano and waterfalls. It was pricey, but it was a once in a lifetime type of thing. We went with the more expensive ECO craft and it was very roomy and everyone had a great view. The pilot was super friendly and made sure to circle around so that both sides got a view of everything. I would highly recommend.

We did well on this trip, we booked the slightly more expensive Eco-star helicopter and because we are of "Hawaiian" build had to pay extra for a "comfort" seat which meant there were only 4 passengers in a chopper capable of taking 6, 3 of us had a window each and the person middle front had a pretty good view anyway. We had a comprehensive briefing before being led out to meet Scott, our pilot. Off we went hunting for hot rocks and were rewarded with views of fresh lava glowing red and white. We also flew of the rim of a live crater, incredibly exciting, and Scott gave us an excellent running commentary on what we were seeing. After fire came the water, flying over the rivers and waterfalls created by the run off from the amazing amount of rainfall they get over Hilo. Just a small word of caution if you expect to get high quality photos from your trip, the chopper is flying quite fast, there is a fair bit of vibration and reflection in the cabin glass. What you see with your eyes is terrific but it is unlikely that your camera will capture it in crystal clear detail, buy the video from the onboard cameras for that.

I have never flown in a helicopter so I was a bit apprehensive about committing to such an expensive venture. The thought of witnessing lava flows and volcanic activity from the air won me over. Wow!!!! Simply amazing. It was an experience that will stay with me for a long time to come. Our pilot, Scott kept us informed and entertained at the same time. He was very friendly and put us at ease very quickly. His commentary was interesting and being able to ask questions through the headphones and microphones added to the experience. A helicopter flight with Blue Hawaiian is a must when visiting The Big Island.

Very well organized and professional operation; great safety and orientation presentations; pilot was very friendly and knowledgable and provided informative overview of what we were seeing; helicopter was comfortable; views were spectacular: volcano crater was active; bought tape of our experience; tape benefitted from three cameras, two focussing out and one shooting the inside of the copter

Exhilarating, amazing, unbelievable... Helicopter is the only way to see the beautiful landscape of Hilo, erupting volcano with flowing lava and fire in the mouth, towns, waterfalls, plantations and coastline. The staff at Blue Hawaiian Helicopter are friendly and knowledgable. You will feel safe in their cool, shinny ,blue and sliver Helicopter. Our Pilot was Wesley, he loves being a pilot and showing off his home Hawaii. Must buy the USB video of your trip. Only $40. The Pilot will capture your reaction inside the helicopter and outside scenery ....Priceless moments..

A fantastic helicopter trip and a great way to see the Big Island. Our pilot Scotty was great, gave us a lot of info and also very funny! A great trip and I would thoroughly recommend!!

My wife and I booked this 2 hour helicopter flight over the active volcano and around the big island including the rugged cliffs and huge waterfalls for our silver wedding anniversary, and what a special experience it was too. Quite simply, if you're fortunate enough to visit the Hawaiian islands then this is a must. It's not exactly cheap but nobody should expect a 2 hour helicopter flight to be. However you do it - beg,steal or borrow - you really do not want to miss this. Simply superb

We did Circle of fire plus waterfall ride. It was a 45-50 minutes ride. We did this with my parents and they thoroughly enjoyed it! Scott was our pilot. He gave us lot of information about volcano, lava, waterfalls and people living in that area. He made sure everybody on the helicopter get to see the scenic places. He also kept on asking through out the flight, if everyone was comfortable. If you book in advance, you get some discount. Check their website for details. They also offer a video CD of the entire ride where they capture inside and outside moments. I felt every penny we spent was worthy.

If you can afford it, it definitely is worth doing once and is fun. It's cool to see bits of active lava and look into an active volcano. The waterfall portion is a little anticlimactic.

We actually got turned back due to the weather after a short flight out of the Hilo Airport, but up until that point it was very fun and exciting. The pilot was awesome. Back at the front desk, they were very apologetic about everything, but I say that it's good to be safe then to try to push on. Even though our flight cost the company money, they gave us a full refund since we didn't have time to reschedule. We'll be back next time we're on the island!

We had some bad weather that week but they still took us up on our third attempt, The pilot was really great and knowledgeable and when we had to turn around due to the weather we got a FULL refund. all in all we got a great trip up in a helicopter along the coast in the rain and saw some whales all for FREE. Disappointing that the weather sucked but we were very grateful for the experience. we will be back.
