value for money
Big Island - Waikoloa

We spent our 1 yr wedding anniversary, belated honeymoon and husbands birthday doing the big island spectacular... A lot of pressure for the company! Couldn't do the volcano tour due to weather but the company were amazing with offers of refund, reschedule or take us anyway but somewhere else! The pilot, Shane was awesome with his knowledge of the area and his ability to know 'when to speak'... We work in tourism in Australia and could not fault this company even if we tried! Oh, actually a second toilet in the facility would be good ;) Going to Hilo tomorrow and will probably try for a volcano flight. Great job guys- a well oiled machine and hats off to you!! Check out skydive oz (moruya NSW) if any of your staff are down under ;) we will be sure to give you a good deal!

fantastic tour
Big Island - Waikoloa

we have had a great tour around Big Island. Our pilot John gave a lot of back ground information so we learned a lot about this beautiful nature. Thank you once again for this great experience! Roger & Family, Switzerland

The only way to see Hawaii
Big Island - Waikoloa

We enjoyed two different Big Island Spectacular trips. Our 1st Pilot Scott was cut short because of weather. They rescheduled and we were able to go up again with John. Both pilots were very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. The 2+ hour trip went quickly. John made it a point to fly over the lava and other pts of interest so all could get a great view. We flew Blue Hawaiian during our vacation in Maui so we were familiar with their level of quality and very experienced pilots. For example Scott their lead pilot in Hawaii flew Black Hawks. John also flew while in the Army. It's a bit expensive but your paying for a trip you'll be talking about for yrs with quality pilots and staffs. It's well worth the investment. Our trip for 3 was $972 with the internet and Holo Holo discount card. Make sure you get the card because it entitles you to discounts with other tours / excursions / Luau's / massages etc. We got ours through the Hilton.

Big Island Spectacular - very cool
Big Island - Waikoloa

My husband and I took the Big Island Spectacular tour. We had an 'A' day with the weather cooperating everywhere including Hilo. The tour was really cool and our pilot very knowledgeable. I believer our pilot's name was Steve, but, I've since lost the paper I wrote it down on so I can't be sure. Regardless, he did a great job and shared a ton of information during the tour. He told us to let him know if we didn't get a good shot of something and he'd circle back if you missed it. We saw lava, got to see the flow consuming some trees which was my purpose in booking. Absolutely loved the part where we went into the Populu valley and got up close to several falls. It was amazing. I have only one thing I didn't like about this tour. I've been on other tours where, if there is a stop, they would rearrange the passengers to give those who were sitting in the middle back seats to go up front or at least on the sides. That didn't happen with this tour even though we did stop in Hilo for fuel and it was the perfect opportunity. Not sure why they don't follow this practice. The two sitting in the front definitely get the best seats and would have been good of the company to spread that around a bit since we all pay the same. Overall totally worth it and I would recommend this tour.

A MUST DO
Big Island - Waikoloa

This is a must for anyone who goes to the Big Island. We started out the first day and it was to cloudy so they gave us the option to turn around and re-book it or do the rest of the tour except the volcano. Of course we wanted to see teh volcano and they were able to get us in the very next day in the morning. It was well worth waiting an extra day. We saw the lava in the crater, we saw lavaing flowing and we saw a bunch of waterfalls. I can know check some things off of my bucket list. I would totally recommend it to anyone. Thank you for the great experience. Joyce Davis

Great way to see volcano!
Big Island - Hilo

This helicopter tour was awesome! Ethan was our pilot and he was very knowledgable. We took the circle of fire tour. Lava ia not bright orange but smokey and silvery. Still it was very interesting and pilot made sure to circle so no matter which side you were seated on, you got a great view. We took the ecostar and even though I was seated in the middle of the back seat, I had a good view. We bought the DVD which is an exact recording of your tour, showing the passengers (cant see people in front seat though). Overall a great experience I would highly reccommend!

The Flights Great
Big Island - Hilo

I really enjoy Blue Hawaiian Helicopters pilots. Great fliers; always entertaining; they do a great, professional job. The ground crew??? Pathetic. Dealing with the mediocre trained crews can come close to compromising the experience. Today we had to deal with a less than informative ground crew; "going through the motions" briefings; and less then strict schedules. Once Blue gets their ground crew better trained and in order, I'll be back to enjoy the great pilots. Until then, I'll go snorkeling instead.

Very Comfortable, Knowledgeable Pilot
Big Island - Hilo

Very slick operation from check in to take off, smooth and organized. The pilot did his best to find some active lava on the volcano and then proceeded to do a few loops around the site to share the view for all seats in the helicopter. Through out the flight the pilot was very informative and responsive to questions over the audio system for all to participate.

Big Island - Hilo

Awesome tour! Our pilot was very calm, friendly, professional and informative. Even though there was not much volcanic activity, it was an enjoyable experience and a great way to see Hilo!

Best way to see the true beauty of Hawaii!
Big Island - Hilo

My husband, daughter, and I booked the 2 hour tour of the Big Island and I have to say it was amazing! The ride was so smooth, and, after initial butterflies, I was perfectly comfortable. My husband and I were in the back, my daughter and 2 others, plus the pilot, were in front. We all had a great view! Shane was our pilot, and he was great! Very knowledgeable, and made sure we all got a good look at the sights. We got really lucky and a lava flow opened up as we flew over it! Shane was super excited, and flew over it for while so we could all see it and take pictures. Awesome! We saw a pod of dolphins by the valley, too, near Hilo. Then, the best part of all-the valleys! Absolutely the most beautiful part of Hawaii, that most people never get to see! Totally breathtaking! Yes, it is expensive. $1600 for the 3 of us, but we loved it! If you want to see what I would call the"real" Hawaii, then do this!

A great time!
Big Island - Hilo

We planned to do this tour even though I didn't know if I would actually get on the helicopter until that day as I was very scared about the whole idea. We had a fun group on our tour that did Blue Hawaiian in Maui.. Scott was our pilot. 2 minutes into the flight I knew it was going to be great! I get motion sickness and have watched too many movies (of stunt crazy helicopter pilots, lol!) and thought my stomach wouldn't survive such an experience. To my delight, Scott was not out to scare me or make me sick, the ride was smooth, easy, and steady. The others rated the Maui experience a 6, our trip with Scott a 10! The absolutely friendliest person I met in my two weeks in Hawaii and everyone is friendly. He was great. I'm not sure what the other reviews are complaining about. We saw plenty of red hot lava, burning tress, beautiful coastline, magnificent waterfalls! We took the Eco Star, extra money but really worth it. There's not a bad seat in that helicopter. I was in the middle in the back and saw everything perfectly. No, there is not hot molten lava shooting in the air, but plenty of lava to see. This was well worth the price. An unforgettable experience! Thank you Scott and Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. By the way.. there's nothing wrong with the ground crew either.. they were all extremely nice and very professional.

AWESOME PEOPLE, GREAT TIME
Big Island - Waikoloa

Great trip with the Blue Hawaiian crew( pilot Steve) weather had us grounded on the west side, but they got us over the North side of the island and we enjoyed the valleys and waterfalls. Everything appeared first class and the equipment is top of the line. Makes you feel very comfortable flying with these guys, my wife and I can't wait to go again.

Best way to experience the Big Island!
Big Island - Waikoloa

We took the Big Island Spectacular trip and were just blown away. Definitey a lot of $$'s, and there is an upcharge for fuel, etc that increased it by about $100 pp over and above the price. HOWEVER.....the tour was incredible. We learned so much about the volcanos. Saw some of the active lava sights, the valleys, shorelines and waterfalls were just incredible. Top notch operation. We purchased the video of our trip, as well as the views of Hawaii dvd so we could see everything again! Was just too much to take in. It was a spectacular way to see Hawaii! We drove out to Hilo by ourselves the next day, and it took almost 3 hours to travel what took us 30 minutes (with great commentary along the way). Just incredible!
