Our flight
Big Island - Hilo

Greg gave us a great tour. Really enjoyed it.Would do it again. It was a rainy day and our flight was cut short but they believe in safety first. All the staff were professional and take their jobs seriously. We had a safety film and then a short safety talk before boarding and since it was my first time in a helicopter I really appreciated it. My husband and I will do this again next time we visit HAWAII. Another island, another Blue Hawaiian tour.

Great views
Big Island - Hilo

Great way to see the island. Volcano wasn't very active but we did see lava! Helicopter seats 6 & seats are based on weight, which isn't real helpful if you are the heavier passengers. Husband got one of the middle seats, I got a rear window so I could at least take photos. But beware! Although told to wear dark clothing the man in front wore a white shirt which reflected in most of my photos! Really disappointed. The couple of flights ahead of us staff gave passengers dark shirts to wear but no one bothered with us so it really was disappointing as husband didn't get a good view at all & hardly any photos to show him!

Spectacular
Big Island - Hilo

We did the 2 hour excursion from Kona. From sightseeing to bubbling lava to fantastic waterfalls this trip was superb from start to finish. The bonus for us was to have a fellow 'Kiwi' as our pilot which made it all the more personal. We will be back next year and will definitely use Blue Hawaiian Helicopters to tour the other islands.

Love the feeling of flying
Big Island - Hilo

While in Hawaii last month, I booked this spectacular tour to see the active volcano on Hilo. I haven't been in helicopter in many years and was so looking forward to this day. The weather was great for flying over the lava flow. Nathan, our pilot, was extremely knowledgable of the volcano and surrounding areas. I was able to get great photos to keep the memory alive for years to come.

Colleen was a wonderful pilot/guide!
Big Island - Hilo

We thoroughly enjoyed our flight over the amazing volcano and beautiful waterfalls, complete with wonderfully knowledgeable and unbiased political commentary from our guide Colleen. As a devout Christian, Republican and card carrying member of the NRA, I was thrilled to find out from Colleen that the carbon emissions of the entire US economy for a whole year are less than half of the emissions from the Kilauea volcano in a single day! Knowing that our emissions as a nation are only about 0.1% of those coming from a single volcano, we can be certain that "global warming" caused by human activity is merely Democratic propaganda. This can be confirmed by internet searches that claim that Kilauea's CO2 emissions are on the order of 10 million metric tonnes yearly, around half of the US economy's output for merely a single day. This is the exact opposite of the facts Colleen kindly presented, and obviously just propaganda from Al Gore, the Democratic nutbar who invented and controls the internet. Thanks so much to Colleen for being a rational an open-minded individual in a world trying to push global warming propaganda upon us!

Hit or Miss, Fly out of their North Big Island location
Big Island - Hilo

Although not their fault, weather is always an issue out of Hilo. We were only able to fly not even halfway to the Puoho Vent, we did see fresh, current lava flow and a few small waterfalls next to Hilo. Seats are assigned according to weight, you may not get a window seat. Your mileage and fellow passengers may vary.

Hit or miss for sure!! Don't take a day trip from another island
Big Island - Hilo

We decided to take a day trip today from Honolulu to Hilo just for the helicopter tour. I would NOT recommend doing that!! We got here just to be disappointed by cancelled tours. We were told that about 30 to 40% of tours get cancelled because of weather or cloud cover. The tour group were very sorry but it would have been nice to know the percentage of cancellations before we would have wasted a day of vacation just to sit in the Hilo airport.

Blue Hawaiian Helicopter's were GREAT !
Big Island - Hilo

I took the trip where the entire BIG ISLAND (Hawaii) was covered. It was tremendous ! Despite the fact that it was very windy, they had no problems getting us up and around to see everything. Our pilot, JOHN, was a hoot ! Terrific personality. A former US Army pilot, was very good at his job, flying, as well as knowledgeable about the island and all the volcanoes (some of which are extremely active). We took off from the heliport up near Waikola Village (near Kona) and made the entire trip in about 2 and a half hours. Highlights were, of course, the volcanoes AND flying into the valleys up in the northeastern part of the island. Well worth the effort and price.

Great value for money!! A must do.
Big Island - Hilo

We took the 50 minute Circle of Fire flight on the A-Star from Hilo. Our pilot, Nathan was a great guide. Terrific knowledge of the area and great recommendations of things to do on the Big Island. Aloha.

Great trip
Big Island - Hilo

My wife, two daughters, and I recently flew the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour of Kilauea volcano. Greg, our pilot, was fantastic. Smooth flight, terrific views, and great information. We highly recommend that when on the Big Island you take a flight.

Must do
Big Island - Hilo

we took a helicopter 2 hour flight over the island..Hawaiian Blue. They were excellent. Our pilot had been a black hawk pilot and we had confidence in him. Good focus on safety. We opted for the Eco Star helicopter with individual seatsHe was very knowledgeable and took us right over the volcanic areas, including the active crater of Kilauea, pointing out lava hot spots as we flew over the lava field. We put down at Hilo for fuel then progressed into the deep valleys of the wetter part of the island. We flew very close to 2000ft waterfalls, in and around the hidden valleys that are inaccessible by car.The 2 hours went so, so quickly. Amazing to see the difference between the 2 sides of the island..the lush growth, greenness and high waterfalls of the Hilo side where they get 250 inches of rain and the comparative desert of the Kona side. Suggest the early morning flights are best because the volcanic haze distorts visibility later in the day Not cheap, USD495 per person, but well worth it.

Circle of Fire
Big Island - Hilo

I and my wife took this trip and our main aim was to view active Lava and we did see it ! The pilot was very knowledgeable and we had a 2 way communication with him throughout the trip. We saw active lava , black areas where lava had flown earlier and then we went to see waterfalls which were not accessible by land. The pilot turned the helicopter 2-3 times so that everyone can get the view. We felt very safe throughout the journey. The only negative point is it is very very pricey .
