First time on a heli, and it was awesome! We booked the Maui Spectacular, and due to bad weather we rerouted part of our tour to Molokai... "Chase" our pilot was knowledgeable, polite, and professional, and most importantly, his piloting skills were incredible. This was definitely worth it... what a great way to start our Maui vaca!
The weather on Maui can be rainy and unpredictable so be prepared for flexibility in your plans -- both in terms of the date you can fly, and the sites you can visit. With that said, when the weather is favorable, Blue Hawaiian gets the job done well. While I was disappointed the flight we scheduled was cancelled due to weather, I was pleased to see they pay attention to safety. The staff worked with us to reschedule the next morning and we went on the Maui Spectacular, a 90 minute tour that covers the whole island. Due to weather on the east side of the island we had to avoid the Haleakala crater, but as a consolation our pilot flew us over to Molokai, a neighboring island, where we saw what were described as the tallest sea cliffs on the planet. It was all really amazing. Our pilot Chase did a fantastic job flying the aircraft and pointing out sites of interest. The landing on a high plateau mid island was pretty spectacular, even if we weren't in the mood for the sparkling wine at 930 in the morning. We flew on the EcoStar, their premium aircraft, which was comfortable, stable, and fun. This was a great tour that provides a view of the island that you can't get any other way. Given the time, we'd fly with Blue Hawaiian again on other islands.
We toured the whole island of Maui on a very comfortable helicopter. Our pilot Brad was fabulous, he made sure we saw all of the great waterfalls and told us all about the island. I would highly recommend this tour.
You couldn't ask for a better crew! We were a little apprehensive at first, but they really put your mind at ease! We had Chase for our pilot- AN EXCELLENT TOUR GUIDE!!! The views were spectacular- money well spent! Very professional staff.
We had a great flight today. It was a little cloudy on our usual route so we went on the Molokai route. Great flight and great service!
Great way to see a lot of the island in 45 mins! Our experience was consistent with many of the others. Originally scheduled for Haleakala & Hana, but was diverted to West Maui & Molokai due to weather, which was still a great experience. Weather above Haleakala is so unpredictable, so be prepared to reschedule or to be diverted if necessary. If you really have your heart set on Haleakala & Hana, I suggest making an appointment at the beginning of your trip. That way, you can reschedule for later in the trip if weather doesn't cooperate. Our guide was Eric, who was pleasant and a very good local knowledge of the islands. We would definitely return again and/or recommend Blue Hawaiian!
We did the 2 hour tour in Big Island and loved it so much (5 star tour) we decided to do this one too. There was no comparison. The volume on the headsets was poor. We could barely hear the pilot. I told her before flight and the volume was to full capacity. Neither of us could hear her well. The sights were beautiful but almost half of this tour is spent crossing the water to Molokai! Because if this you would expect great information when over the land. She spent more time talking about the whales and how amazing they are. They aren't here this time of year! We should have heard about what is here now! Compared to the awesome tour we had on the Big Island we were very disappointed in this one. I would not repeat or recommend this one.
My daughter and I took the 50-minute helicopter ride over West Maui and Molokai and were impressed by the spectacular scenery. We took a helicopter tour of Kauai a few years ago and thought nothing could beat it, but the stunning cliffs and waterfalls on the north side of Molokai are more than a match. Our pilot made sure the ride was full of "oh wow" moments, positioned the helicopter to provide close-up camera angles for passengers on both sides, and answered our questions cheerfully. We were also impressed by the friendly professionalism of the Blue Hawaiian staff. We needed a tour that could provide a chair lift for disability access to the helicopter, and the staff had everything set up so that getting on and off the helicopter went very smoothly. This level of service makes all the difference -- much appreciated!
We were lucky to have front seats on the eco helicopter. Views of my life, visual impressions were comparable to New Zealand Fiordland. That was the most memorable experience on Hawaii for me. Rain, fog/clouds, sun, rainbows above and under, big mystic waterfalls so close... Breathtaking! Worth every penny, I would go again! THANKS!
We really enjoyed this trip! It allowed us to see the entire island of Maui, especially things we wouldn't have gotten to see otherwise. We originally didn't book the trip that included a landing mid flight but were upgraded for free. I tell you it was the highlight of the trip. If I had to do it over again, I would book the trip with the stop and pay for it. Like the others have said, call them locally and you will get a better deal based on their available seats. Thanks!
My parents gifted my husband and I with a helicopter tour of West Maui and Molokai for our honeymoon. WOW, what an incredible experience. Blue Hawaiian is reasonably priced and will give you an amazing experience you will never forget. We arrived 45 minutes before flight (as told to do) wearing dark colors (so they don't reflect off the glass and interfere with photographs). We were then weighed (DON'T WORRY, you can't see the number-- plus who the heck wants to see that number while they are on vacation with all that delicious Hawaiian food!?). They weigh you so they can balance the helicopter. You then watch a short 5 minute safety video and put on your life jackets (think fanny pack). You then get a seat assignment and wait with your small group to board your helicopter. Each helicopter seats 6 + pilot. Chase, our helicopter pilot was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the island and the sites. When he wasn't sharing information, he played great island music that broadcasted through our headphones (I loved this). The other staff at Blue Hawaiian were also awesome and very accommodating. They offer to take your picture in front of the helicopter (you don't even have to ask!). There are no gimmicks, up selling, etc-- just an amazing time with excellent service. They even offer great coffee and free lockers to store your belongings! Seeing the island by helicopter is the only way folks! We will definitely book a tour again through Blue Hawaiian on our next visit to Maui!
I took the tour of West Maui and Molokai and it was great. Lots of amazing views and the pilot was providing us with neat facts throughout. Highly recommend booking through Blue Hawaiian!
We had two different tours planned but neither of them came off as planned. One was canceled completely and the other was cut short by weather. The helicopters boast that they have theater seating which allows a good view for all and that is true. What becomes difficult to impossible is to take pictures from anything but the window seats.
Chase our pilot was amazing... I was very nervous starting out, but it was the best experience I could have wished for... I felt very safe and the views were amazing... I loved the waterfalls and the scenery!!
We did the Eco Star full island and we loved every minute if it. It was beautiful to see the islands and waterfalls, and our pilot Rick was knowledgable and fun! Worth every penny.
