One of the things we were told we should not miss was a helicopter tour of Maui. There are a number of choices and flight routes. We kept hearing that we should for sure do Blue Hawaiian. The concierge in our hotel mentioned the circle tour (recommended) was $360 each. Seemed very high, so we decided to look online for offers. We ended up booking through what was called Local Expedia expert. It was a coupon for $154.99 plus tax and fuel surcharges. Total was $190 each. The company we were booking was Hawaiian helicopter. When we arrived however, we were pleasantly surprised that we would be on Blue Hawaiian. Was told by another passenger that they are I guess a sister company. We were really excited. The pilot, I want to say Matt, was great. Really nice, really made sure to get to know us, provided great information about things we were seeing. Helicopter was very comfortable, great visibility, very smooth and quiet. We actually were able to sit in front which was cool. A little less room, but great views. One recommendation unrelated to the company, would be to not film and fly too much if prone to air sickness. About half way through, I started to get nauseous. As we got near the airport, I needed the "comfort bag" to put it mildly. As the whole flight is video recorded, both inside and flight scenes, I was glad that the video did not show we losing it. I have a feeling that Matt was behind switching the video to record outside the helicopter instead of inside. The last thing that was recorded was me asking my wife for the bag. I think he knew what was coming and that showed respect. Lastly, purchase the DVD of the tour. It's $25 and is worth it. Sit and enjoy the flight and don't invest as much time recording it all yourself. Overall, very worth it. Great way to see the island quickly and places you can't access, like the cliffs and waterfalls of Molokini.
We were met by the beautiful Kasey and she did the pre-safety check. Our pilot Noah was very knowledgeable. We saw raw beauty for miles with so many waterfalls. This is an adventure not to be missed. We took the West Maui! Molokai tour. The cost was $169 per person and with tax ... $210 each. Well worth it. I want to go again soon. Woo Hoo Maui!
What an Awesome Adventure!!! This was the first time my wife & I have flown in a helicopter...and it was amazing. Our pilot was personable and very interactive. We had such a good time.
Most important make sure you get Pilot Tim not only a great pilot but also the most knowledgeable guide of the Island. Geological, Historical, Agracultural, Oceanagraphy, Tim has it down. Take the West Maui & Molokai tour.
Took a tour with Rick. He was very knowledgeable without being boring. The copter was fabulous. My family and I really enjoyed it.
We had the 1 hour whole island Eco Star tour and it was amazing!! From our safety introduction through to touching back down after the tour the service was excellent. Our pilot was friendly and very knowledgeable not only about the geography and history of the island but also current issues that are impacting Maui. Blue Hawaiian also added something extra by playing a fitting soundtrack as we explored the island.
I live on Maui and always have used Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tours for touring all islands. The other companies do not live up to my expectations. During Christmas I had visitors from the mainland. The six of toured the island of Maui aboard the Echo Star and we were not disappointed. We started at Blue Hawaiian's beautiful operations center with check in and a safety briefing. We were escorted by two representatives to the Eco Star who assisted us into the helicopter insuring we were seat belted and our headsets were operating. Our pilot made sure we were all OK because we had one that was afraid of going on the helicopter. Our pilot was not only piloting but our fabulous tour guide. We saw Maui as no one can from the ground such as water falls you can not get on the ground, sea cliffs, humpback whales, mountain valleys, the volcano and other breathtaking scenery. We had constant communication with our pilot and had Hawaiian music playing to enhance our adventure. When we landed the "afraid one" was ready to go again. We purchased the digital DVD in flight recording, Tee shirts and a little pilot teddy bear for the 11 year old. I cannot say enough for those that helped make this a wonderful trip at Blue Hawaiian especially Meghan Lee and other staff. sincerely, B. Caprita
This helicopter tour was the highlight of our trip. We had a great pilot who gave us an excellent tour of mountains, cliffs , rain forests, and waterfalls in Maui and Molokai. There was great interaction between pilot and passengers during the ride. The ride was very smooth and fun. We signed up for the one island tour but they upgraded us to combo tour! We enjoyed our tour and the incredible ride so much. Highly recommended.
It took a little convincing to get my wife to agree to going up in a helicopter but the pre-flight information was very good and from the moment we got into the air she loved it. Our pilot provided plenty of information on the area's of interest as well as some Hawaiian history. If you are worried about forgetting the trip or you want to relive it and all the commentary then you can buy the video after you land.
Rather than drive to see steep cliffs on the West portion of Maui elected to take a Blue Hawaiian Helicopter flight between narrow lush green valleys. The views were magnificent. This was a breathtaking experience that could not be experienced by car.
Had a great flight over Maui & Molokai with Blue Hawaiian. Our pilot Chase was an excellent pilot who gave us a smooth ride & was very knowledgable about the landscape we were flying over. Definitely an awesome experience!
We flew on one of the new Ecostar choppers. We sat in the front so we had some great views. Rick was our pilot and tour guide. He was knowledgeable and informative. He also made me feel safe since I was a little nervous. It was my first time riding a helicopter. The flight was pretty smooth. It was a short 30 mins ride. We only got to see western Maui along the coast then went into the mountains. The aerial view is just breathtaking. I was hoping to see some waterfalls but just got some luscious greens. Maybe on the longer tours you'll be able to see them.
Glenda was out pilot and she was insanely great. She had a sweet voice and was very knowledgable. She made the experience even more memorable. We went to Hana west Mahi mountains and the Molokai crater. Saw some 1500 ft water falls. Crazy beautiful. I think if you are in Maui and want to experience AWE do this. Plus I felt that Blue Hawaiian had newer choppers and the pilots were experienced too. Thanks Glenda and Blue Hawaiian.
it was the smoothest helicopter ride and it was so quiet so it was worth going on the new ecostar chopper. we flew over maui - molokai and it was a beautiful experience. our pilot was imformative but he wanted us to converse with him but it was hard as we were not miked up and had a microphone between the two of us which we had to press a button to talk. it was hard to remember to do this when you are looking at amazing scenery. the company were very friendly and their professional.
My family of five took a 50 min ride on an eco helicopter with our guide Glenda. We toured Molokai and the mountains of west Maui. She was extremely knowledgeable about the sights we saw and was an excellent, calm pilot. We say soaring cliffs, beautiful waterfalls and turquoise ocean water, all the while learning some history of the area. All of the seats on board had excellent lines of vision and the helicopter was remarkably quiet. We now wished we had done another tour as well. Maybe next time!
