There is absolutely one thing you should purchase when you book your flight and that is TRIP PROTECTION!! I was thoroughly excited to come from Honolulu to see the Na’Pali Coast made so famous in media. Flights from Honolulu on Hawaiian Airlines was a breeze and getting a rental car was easy at the Lihue Airport. I had about an hour drive going north up to the Princeville Heliport for my flight and had ample time to get there. All of a sudden there was a major road construction project in between the airport and heliport. There were no alternative routes. I thought maybe I could get through it, but as time passed, I knew I wasn’t going to make it in time because we only moved .2 miles in 15 minutes! So I called the reservation number and they were able to easily refund my trip purchase minus the protection fee. Disappointed didn’t get to take the helicopter ride, but was glad I got the refund and they were quite helpful and understanding. Will definitely rebook in the future, either for Kawai or the Big Island.

This was our first time flying in a helicopter. Our pilot, Sarah, was very informative of the island and would make sure both sides saw the landscape. We were able to get so close that the photos are unedited. Would definitely recommend!

It was an amazing experience I would definitely recommend it. The flight and pilot were great. There was some trouble with getting the reservation time straight. I got rescheduled three times across two different days. I got moved to an earlier reservation time, but it ended up being a great time window for the tour so no worries. For disclosure I am receiving a 20% discount on the video you can purchase at the end of the tour for leaving this review. As far as I know this deal is generally offered to passengers.

Blue Hawaiian Helicopters is THE organization you want to fly with. The others just don’t compare. This was our second flight with Blue and the pilots are exceptional, informational, and provide the best, smooth and safe ride. Choose Blue!

We have done a few of these during various vacations in various cities. This one is middle of the list regarding the views, but bottom of the list when considering the price. Take the tour if you can afford it, but skip it if it stretches your budget. The views during the first half were interesting to me because I am interested in the geology; various dried up lava flows and volcanos erosion, etc. The second half is of the wet side of the island with the rainforest, waterfalls, etc - some above average sights, but nothing jaw dropping. The best part of the tour was our pilot (James) and the landing experience. James was the most knowledgable pilot that I’ve ever flown with. He also had the steadiest hands by far. The landing part made this a decent tour. I probably would have been disappointed if we didn’t pay for the upgrade. Overall, I would probably do it again because my wife wanted to do it, but I wouldn’t do it again if I was with a few buddies or my kid. The Grand Canyon and Manhattan tours were much better and at less than half the cost. A round trip from KOA to Tahiti is $1,100. I mean…
