We had the 90-minute Maui Spectacular Helicopter Tour which is a combination of Blue Hawaiian's West Maui and Hana/Haleakala tours. Justin was our pilot. The tour was great. This tour includes a landing on the slopes of Haleakala. The customer service with Blue Hawaiian is top notch. This was our third tour (2-Maui, 1-Kauai) with Blue Hawaiian, however we have brought three other couples, who have visited Maui with us, to the heliport for their tours. Justin was great and the ride was smooth, especially considering the windy conditions. My wife tends to get motion sickness yet she has never had any problems with Blue Hawaiian. I recommend that you definitely book the tour on the Eco-Star copters.
My husband and I did the Maui and Molokai helicopter tour and it was delightful. Blue Hawaiian was very well organized and professional which eased some butterflies that I had prior to take off. The flight was spectacular and we saw places that you can only see on a helicopter tour, Our pilot Mike was wonderful and was a very knowledgable guide. The tour is a bit pricy but well worth it if you want the best view of Maui and surrounding islands. Remember to dress in darker clothing so you get minimal glare in your photos. Enjoy!
Absolutely best helicopter experience. It was worth every penny. Our pilot, Tim, was awesome. The ride was very smooth and the pilot was extremely knowledgeable. My wife is afraid of heights, but she was fine on this excursion. You will get unbelievable views of the island that can only be seen by helicopter. Purchase the video that was recorded by the high definition cameras on the helicopter, it is reasonably priced and professional quality.
We got to see one of the largest waterfalls on Maui, featured in Jurassic Park. We didn't get to fly over the live volcano bc of the trade winds.
We thought our first holiday in beautiful Hawaii should include a scenic flight and we were not disappointed. The tour desk Play Paradise at our hotel recommended and booked the flight for us. Unfortunately the weather was not good so we were asked to switch our destination but that wasn't a problem. We did however arrive too early and would have liked to be advised that there was going to be a LONG wait before we could depart. We would have driven to nearby shopping centre to have lunch as there was nothing at the Heliport. Sadly the facility charges for parking which doesn't seem fair considering the amount you are paying for the flight. We bought the DVD filmed on our flight and it is a wonderful souvenir reminder of our experience.
We enjoyed our Haleakala and Hana tour of Maui. Haleakala crater was enshrouded in clouds and so we missed out on seeing the crater. That crater time was spent meandering around Haleakala at a leisurely pace. The trip was leisurely with spectacular views especially the waterfalls after the recent rains. We preferred our previous Helicopter tour to Molokai and the West Maui Mountains over open ocean as we saw much more at an exciting pace. The weather seemed to dampen the trip both figuratively and literally. If you can, pick a clear day usually in the early morning to see Haleakala Crater. We have seen the crater from within on a six hour amazing horseback ride.
We took the Eco tour with Blue Hawaiin helicopters which although expensive is well worth the money. We saw so much natural and beautiful scenery on our narrated tour. Kauai is such a beautiful place which you will appreciate even more during the helicopter ride. Our pilot Brodi did a super job of pointing out the various natural beauty of the island and was respectfully quiet during the natural highlights. Brodi is a highly competent and professional pilot. Thanks Brodi. This is a worth while attraction which gives you a spectacular perspective of the beautiful garden island of Kauai.
We have now done Blue Hawaii helicopter tours on The Big Island, Kauai and Maui. They are simply the best company to fly with! My kids always really enjoy Tue lift off and the rest of the tour. BUT their favorite thing and mine is the sheer beauty of Hawaii in general!
We originally debated over spending roughly $250 a person on our honeymoon for a tour of the entire island of Maui. It was our first time in a helicopter and we didn't know what to expect. You only live once so we decided to give it a try. It was one of the coolest things we've ever done and worth every penny. We went with Mike and he was so knowledgable about the land, answered any questions, and made it just plain fun. For all those first timers worried about if it will be rough or make you sick? Not a chance. We were very surprised about how smooth the ride was. It was as if you were riding on a cloud.. Anyway. It's amazing to see all the different terrains of the island, Haleakala, tons of waterfalls, hana, etc. They also offer a blueray of your individual trip for purchase after. It's 40 bucks but worth it. We would definately recommend this to everyone. It made our trip and was the perfect way to get our bearings of the island early. We will be back. Just do it already!
Did the Maui Spectacular which covered the island plus road to Hana and Haleakala Crater. Our pilot Glenda was such a delight, played great music and was a fountain of knowledge about the island and its history. We flew over my condo at Honua Kai and all along Kaanapali Beach. Landed on a ranch where we all enjoyed refreshments and my first taste of pineapple champagne. Then we flew to Haleakala Crater which was just magnificent. The weather throughout the flight was wonderful and we got to see everything clearly. The flight was worth every penny and I could not be happier. I ordered the video for $40.00 and am watching it right now as I write this review. This is a must do attraction if you visit Maui and I recommend it very highly; it was the highlight of my trip. If Glenda is your pilot, you will definitely be pleased.
You have to do the Maui Spectacular, an awesome trip. You get to fly over the whole island and see form the air what you would never see from any road on Maui. You can really see the full beauty of Maui!! Our pilot Rob was outstanding with his knowledge of Maui and the history. They landed on a mountain ranch and popped a bottle of champagne. The trip was worth every dollar. Our only disappointment was that we couldn't get the $ 40.00 video of our trip, somehow the communication between the helicopter and the office wasn't working. They did give us a video of the Hawaiin Islands which was nice but not like getting your personal trip. Ask for Rob as your pilot and you will have an awesome trip!!
Great Experience. Great way to sight see remote areas of West Maui and Molokai. Just wish it could have been longer.
Our group had the pleasure of taking a helicopter over Maui. The views were spectacular and the helicopter was extremely safe and secure. The trip was made even better since we had Mike as our pilot. He was not only a fantastic pilot but he provided a great deal of information about the sights and Maui in general. I would highly recommend this adventure, but ask for Mike and you will not be disappointed!
We took the 1 hour Blue Hawaiian helicopter ride from Kahului to Molokai and back. After we took off, we went around West Maui in a counter-clockwise direction. Then we proceeded to Molokai. I was amazed how beautiful Molokai was. The highlight was probably when we were flying over the peak of a mountain on Molokai and the terrain suddenly dropped 2000 feet below us. Quite an interesting visual effect. After we left Molokai we flew over the hotels in the Kahana and Kaanapali area. Interesting to see our timeshare from the air. We also flew over the electric generating windmills. It was a very enjoyable experience.
We did the "Complete" island tour. Was VERY cool to see the island this way, including seeing some of the waterfalls that are not accessible by foot. Definitely take the Eco-Star... decent amount of room, minimal noise (so long as you have the earphones that they supply on your head). Definitely worth doing either Complete tour (the one we did) or the Maui "Spectacular" (you land on the mountainside of the crater).
