Very professional place. Gave us a free upgrade from West Maui to add in Molokai. Pilot was friendly and informative. Molokai was very cool to see this great valley full of water falls, this sheer cliff, and the stories of the Leper colony. It did scare us when 2 days after we went a helicoptor from this same company on the same tour we got upgraded two crashed. But looking at the numbers of flights this is extremely rare and less likely than it happening on the car drive to the airport.
Thank you for both the trips! Emery was our pilot both times, once with Maui Spectacular and once on the return trip from Hana! Loved every minute of it
After researching various helicopter tour companies online, we decided to book with Blue Hawaiian for our tour of Maui. We had a great time! They were very polite and professional. Our pilot (Mike) was great, providing interesting facts about what we were seeing during our flight. The flight itself was very smooth. Mike would turn us so everyone could see and get pictures of the waterfalls, craters, and the shoreline. The views are incredible! Overall it may be a little expensive but well worth the money. Additional info: -We booked the complete island tour of Maui -If you buy the A3H Gold Card (Google it) in advance then book online you'll save money -Wear dark clothes so you get less reflection in pictures -Select their higher end helicopter
Seeing Maui and Maui county from the air is quite the experience. We did the 45 minute West Maui and Molokai tour. We frew on the A-Star aircraft, which I believe is a little older than their other Eco-Stars. But the aircraft was nice. We watched a safety video then hit the chopper. Our pilot was very knowledgable and flew gently. I enjoyed a bit of Pakalolo before my flight that made it even that much better. Amanda was mildly nautious. The flight actually lasted 49 minutes so i guess we got a little more than we paid for. There was the pilot and me and Amanda up front and a group of three older lady's in the back. One seat in the back was empty. The only complaint is that our $25 DVD of our flight the we had the option to buy did not work very well when we got home. I email and asked for another copy to be sent to me, which they had no problem doing, but the new copy had the same problem:(
Immediately, my first impressions were great because the staff there is so welcoming! Everyone we met was really great. We even left our lens cap for our camera in the helicopter and they went and found it for us! Besides the service, this is an absolute experience of a lifetime. Go see the Molokai cliffs if you can, amazing!
My wife and I flew the on Dec 4, 2011 with Glenda as our pilot. Glenda was engaging and informative, giving is a very nice overview of the geography and geology of Maui. Waterfalls, canyons, rain forest, etc. Interesting contrast between the windward (wet) and leeward (dry) sides of the island - entirely different ecosystems. Great view of the Crater. Actually saved us from making the long drive up there the next day. Only thing that prevents me from giving this 5 stars is that we flew so high I am sure we missed some of the amazing beauty of the waterfalls and towns. Don't know if there are "rules" about altitude, or maybe there were just a lot of helicopters in the air that day, but we seemed to be flying higher than the other helicopters I saw.
Words can't explain. We took the flight over to Molokai. Just amazing seeing the sea cliffs and all the places that you would never see otherwise. The pilot was great and very informative. Not cheap but would love to do again.
We were booked in for the complete island tour, however due to the weather we were unable to do this at first we were a little dissapointed but we were upgraded to the eco star chopper and we still did the 1 hour tour and got to see Molokai. I actually got teary while we flew over the sea cliffs of Molokai it was absolutely amazing our photos dont do it justice! It took my breath away... Its everything and more than I expected. I started to get a bit sick at the end of the trip but i have really bad motion sickness, but we were back before we knew it and it would have been worth it even if i was sick. You just dont get to see what we saw driving around its impossible. Its expensive but i would highly recommend it to anyone going to Maui and if you are thinking about it just stop thinking save the $$ and go! I promise you wont be sorry! We loved it!
Eco Star chopper was stable and had less turbulence than most commercial jets. Fabulous views of Molokai and excellent close-up view of breathtaking coastline and waterfalls along with steep cliffs. Initial plan was to go over Haleakala but low clouds changed the flight to West Maui/Molakai. Having already seen Haleakala, we were glad to have had the opportunity to take a peek into another island part of the Maui county. Upgrade to Eco Star was free. DVD was a bit pricey ($25), but worth it.
The lava flow was spectular. Our pilot was very knowledgeable and kept things very interesting. If you enjoy flying, this is a must do and a great way to see the island.
This is the BEST helicopter tour EVER!!! You have plenty of options and times to choose from! Great staff make you feel safe and secure and amazing pilots!!!! Our pilot Eric rocked!! Loved his sense of humor and was soooo infomative!!! They also record your ride and you can buy your trip at a VERY reasonable price!!! Would do it again in a HEARTBEAT!!!
Emery was our pilot, he knew so much about Hawaii, the culture, the people, and the history. He took us by so much and let everyone get a view of what he was talking about. So much fun, wish our trip could have been longer.
We did the two-hour helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters on the Big island. Pay extra for the Eco-Star helicopter. Very comfortable and big windows, so you can see everything. This is the ONLY way to see the volcanoes, lava, and hot lava cascading down into the ocean, with steam rising up. You get fabulous views of the magnificent waterfalls along the coast. Our pilot was very knowledgable about the whole island and gave us very interesting information about what we were seeing. The next day, we drove to Kilauea; and all we saw were clouds and rain -- nothing like what we saw from the helicopter. This trip is worth every penny.
The staff bent over backwards to make us feel welcome. They were so friendly and helpful and professional. We had a wonderful experienced pilot who made us feel so comfortable. It was a wonderful flight over beautiful Molokaii. Have only good things to say about Blue Hawaiian and their staff and our great pilot Emery. Would do it again and request our same pilot.
We went on the full eco star tour of maui today and it was amazing with pilot Tim. He was super knowledable. He made certain we were all very comfortable so we could enjoy every minute of the tour. He took time to make the tour our best experience in maui. we had some very fearful fliers who got off the tour saying it was the best thing they have ever done. Tim is the best go on this tour and ask for him!
