Our group had the pleasure of taking a helicopter over Maui. The views were spectacular and the helicopter was extremely safe and secure. The trip was made even better since we had Mike as our pilot. He was not only a fantastic pilot but he provided a great deal of information about the sights and Maui in general. I would highly recommend this adventure, but ask for Mike and you will not be disappointed!
We took the 1 hour Blue Hawaiian helicopter ride from Kahului to Molokai and back. After we took off, we went around West Maui in a counter-clockwise direction. Then we proceeded to Molokai. I was amazed how beautiful Molokai was. The highlight was probably when we were flying over the peak of a mountain on Molokai and the terrain suddenly dropped 2000 feet below us. Quite an interesting visual effect. After we left Molokai we flew over the hotels in the Kahana and Kaanapali area. Interesting to see our timeshare from the air. We also flew over the electric generating windmills. It was a very enjoyable experience.
We did the "Complete" island tour. Was VERY cool to see the island this way, including seeing some of the waterfalls that are not accessible by foot. Definitely take the Eco-Star... decent amount of room, minimal noise (so long as you have the earphones that they supply on your head). Definitely worth doing either Complete tour (the one we did) or the Maui "Spectacular" (you land on the mountainside of the crater).
I think what I enjoyed most about Blue Hawaiian was their staff, Glenda, our pilot, Loki, Little Chris and everyone on the ground crew were friendly and helpful. Our ride was a bit bumpy due to Maui's weather that day, we flew to Molokai instead, the bonus being, now I've seen Molokai! My only suggestion would be for Glenda to offer more of the Hawaiian lore in her narrative and less National Geographic. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
This was our second trip with Blue Hawaiian and we have not been disappointed. They are all very professional and still easy to work with. The flights have been wonderful and the crew is the nicest around. Did the flight around Maui and enjoyed the waterfalls and the volcano crater. Would always give them high marks on their understanding of the island. Don't miss the big island if you get a chance.
As the title states, this is one of the best things that we did on Maui. We had 5 people in our group, so we essentially had the entire 6 seat (plus pilot) helicopter to ourselves. We took the West Maui and Molokai tour and it was incredible. Our pilot was very friendly and knowledgeable about the islands and took is to some incredibly scenic areas of both. This is the BEST way to see Maui and I recommend it to anyone. I would do this early in your trip, as it gives you an idea of some places that you can come back and visit on your own.
Was hesitant about taking a helicopter tour because I thought it would be scary or make me nauseous, but it was one of the best experiences of my life! The flight was very smooth and not scary at all! Our pilot was fantastic, very informative and made me feel safe in his hands immediately (sorry I do not remember his name). Do not hesitate to book a tour through BHH! Worth every penny! Even bought a t-shirt on the way out!
Wow! This was THE most amazing thing we have done since we arri ved on Maui. Our pilot, Gernot, was so friendly and knowledgeable and he had a lovely speaking voice. Needless to say, the scenery was incredibly beautiful and the whole experience was just top notch! We will be sure to tell all our friends to take the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour!
If you come to Maui you must take a tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. We had the most beautiful experience, soaring over fantastic nearby island Molokai, the valleys and waterfalls, the coastline and cliffs. One of the most beautiful moments in our lives, no doubt. Don´t miss out!
Well worth the time and money! We really enjoyed seeing Maui from the air. Excellent pilot, very informative. We enjoyed it so much we did the same on O'ahu with same company! Highly recommend!
On May 16th we took the Molokai/West Maui tour with Rick. It was out first time taking a helicopter tour of any kind. What an amazing experience!!! Rick was wonderful - informative with presenting information in regards to the helicopter, what we where seeing and the history of Hawaii. He answers all of our questions and actually encouraged them. My family absolutely loved the experience and even though I hate to fly I had to say it was something that I am so glad I did. If you do hate to fly I would say try this, it is a totally different feeling and it really is unlike anything else. We were going 130 MPH and it did not even feel like we were moving. When we were over the water or the outer area of the island I was relaxed and really enjoyed it. I personally did get a little nervous when we went in-between the valleys of the islands, but the view was well worth any butterflies that I might have had. I would highly recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and especially Rick. We purchased the DVD of our tour happily (for a fee) and filled up on Blue Hawaiian Helicopter t-shirts. Our next trip to Hawaii will definitely include another tour with them.
Our trip to West Maui/ Molokai was one of the best experiences in my life to date. Yes it's pricey, but I would recommend everyone does this at least once in their life. We paid extra for the Eco Star and it's worth it as everyone gets a good view but I was lucky enough to get a window seat. The seats are allocated according to your weight so don't worry about getting there early to try to get good seats or anything cos it makes no difference. Our pilot was Rick and he was great. Calm yet enthusiastic about all the incredible things we were seeing. We were lucky enough to see a mother and baby humpback whale far below even though it was the last week of April. I don't want to spoil all the surprises of this trip you but trust me it's incredible. Wear dark clothing to limit the reflections on the windows for good picture taking.
You get good views of the valleys, waterfalls from the mountains/cliffs and streams, which otherwise are hard to see. Pilots provide good and useful explanation. We liked the tour but we also left with a feeling that the packages are pricey compared to the value offered.
Glenda The Good Witch was our fabulous pilot. Gave a great tour of Maui and the Crater with entertaining stories of Maui. Wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning. Magical!!
Rick was excellent pilot and very knowledgeable tour guide. I enjoyed every single minute of the flight. Ground crew and front desk service was also excellent, Thank you :) It was well worth of spent.
