Thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Kauaâi with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters!! Our pilot, Barrett, was fantastic and personable. We booked online about a week prior to our tour and were fortunate enough to get the two front seats. Prior to scheduling, we checked the weather forecast and it seemed a bit grim. Donât worry about the weather. The day we went the forecast was for cloudy, rainy, and windy. However, it was sunny, a little windy, but no rain!! If you go to Kauaâi, donât skip the helicopter tour. Our experience with Blue Hawaiian was fantastic and would highly recommend them and their staff!
My husband and I did this tour in Kauai. I want to said that the blue Hawaiian helicopters are great. The company is very safety oriented and I believe it made me feel very safe traveling with them. The view of the Canyon of the Pacific from the air is fantastic, as well as the view of the water falls. However, I feel we did not see too much the Napali coast. That's the reason I am giving to them 4 instead 5. If you budget is limited and you are visiting Kauai, I recommend to take a boat tour that take you to the Napali Coast and rent a car for a day or two go to see the Waimea Canyon and other beautiful places of Kauai. If you want to take an helicopter tour anyway , the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter is the best.
They are very organized, the tour is very informative and the pilot quite friendly and knowledgeable
This was something our family will remember forever. It was the first helicopter ride for all of us, so that alone was special, but the trip just kept getting better and better as we went. We did the 2 hour Island Spectacular with waterfall landing. (If you're going to spend this much money anyway- get the best tour!) - Check in and briefing were quick and smooth. - Our pilot, Greg, was the best! Safe, knowledgable, funny, and personable. - Great views of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa as we flew over the saddle road on the way to the volcano. - Flew over the Kilauea caldera as we entered the park - even though there were flight restrictions due to the gas plume, Greg got us good views of the lava lake in the Halema'uma'u crater. Flew over a separate lava flow in the East Rift zone (which was great because the hike from the road in the park was >5 miles the next day when we went... we wouldn't have seen lava flowing if not for the helicopter ride!) - Toured the south end of the island a bit, before landing in Hilo for refueling & a bathroom break. - Flew north along the Hilo coast - saw whales in the ocean, and Greg dipped down so both sides could get a view. - Flew into the 2nd valley north of Hilo for an absolutely breathtaking view of the valley... This is an unpopulated valley and probably a stop on every helicopter tour, but to us it was just magnificent - like the Jurassic Park theme should be playing in the background. Greg got so close to the valley walls - super safe, but unbelievable. I didn't even take pictures here because I just wanted to take it all in with my eyes. - We exited the valley, and we paid the extra for the waterfall landing. BEST DECISION! There was this impossible landing spot, and we couldn't believe Greg was pulling the helicopter in here for a landing, but HE DID! (again, safe, but WOW). This is where our picture is from. What can I say that the picture doesn't say... - Finished the tour with a nice view of ranch country on the north end of the island, then back to the base in Waikoloa. - We were a family of 4 - they seat by weight so you can't choose. There are 2 seats up front (pilot + 2 others), and 4 in the back, so out of 6 passengers, 4 have direct window views. I had one of the "middle seats" and I have to say I could still see everything. The windows are huge and I could actually see out of both sides and the front. I have no complaints. - Yeah, it's expensive. Very expensive. But paraphrasing Ferris Bueller, it is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend it.
I was hesitant to go up in a helicopter but our lava boat was cancelled and the kids wanted to find some lava. They safety briefing was quick and helpful. We were then escorted outside to board the helicopter. Our pilot was Pat, he was friendly and funny throughout the tour. We had a great time, the lava was really bubbling and allowed us to see a lot. It was a great outing, at the end it seemed like it was too short.
Actually 2 items. Fly in a helicopter and see an active volcano caldera. The choppers are set up with great views from both sides and the pilot we had went to great lengths to set up good viewing for both sides. It took 10 minutes to get to the active part of the island and the pilot offered up information on some of the things that we were looking at on the way and was happy to answer questions. As we flew up towards the caldera, he found a surface lave flow for us to look at and then flew on to the main event. Lava was bubbling and flowing and I got lots of great pictures. The waterfalls were pretty but not my main reason for going. Loved it all.
Beth was a great tour guide. Full of knowledge and an awesome attitude. Would come again and use Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tours.
One word WOW!!!!!
Absolutely no words to describe the beauty! Beth was a great pilot, and kept us informed at all times. Mahola for the best time ever!!
Brandon was Awesome!
The entire trip was fabulous. An added treat was seeing some migrating humpback whales on the way back. Pilot John did an excellent job of zipping us around and providing lots of info about the island, lava and Hawaiian life. Best part of my trip to Oahu and Hawaii
Great Trip. This was our third time on Blue Hawaiian and really recommend it. John our pilot was very good . Thanks to all
Both the trip and the pilot (John #71) were fantastic. He took his time and circled back over several whale sightings to make sure everyone could get a good look. Highlight of our trip.
Great informative flight with ongoing information to be used for more activities during our stay on the island.
Best day ever!!! Our Pilot Guide, Karl was awesome...the views were amazing! We did the 90 minute tour...landed by a waterfall, champagne and a local baked passion fruit cookie by the ocean waves! Would recommend this tour to everyone....it's a tour I can see us taking again! Thanks for the start of another beautiful day on the Big Island!!!
