Day Trippin
ビッグアイランド - ワイコロア

We decided to go on a helicopter adventure to get a view of the waterfalls and the lava flow. It was a great decision on our part and a great adventure on blue Hawaiians part. It was a great flight the pilot was very informative and the people that we were with were very enjoyable. We went on the one hour and 45 minute flight and saw two areas of the lava flow and he explained about the gray ash and then we went to Hilo and stopped for refueling and then took in all the waterfalls that you can’t see it unless you’re in a helicopter or on the ocean which was magnificent . It was very safe and well worth the money. We also bought the tape of our trip and was able to come home and share it and it actually shows that you’re in a helicopter and it shows what you’re seeing.

Splurge!
ビッグアイランド - ワイコロア

This should definitely be on your bucket list! A perfect 2-1/2 hour tour that really showcased the differences in topography of the Big Island. Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea, lava beds, molten lava, lush landscapes, whales, and amazing landing in a postage-sized valley to view an incredible waterfall. Our pilot Jay was quite informative and he really gave us a once in a lifetime experience. Kudos to all for the adventure!

BINGO! We found the BEST tour in the Islands! Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tours is IT! Our pilot is was one of the two original pilots that started the company in the 90's. I think his name was Dan or Don. It's been a bit. Anyway, the flight was AMAZING! We did The Big Island Spectacular, a two-hour tour, which I HIGHLY recommend!! The views were just AMAZING! We got to see some lava in the caldera, two humpback whales, a tiger shark and the incredible waterfalls! What a ride! It was the first time in a helicopter for either of us. I was a little nervous at first. It's NOT an airplane. But the nerves wore off in a few minutes and it was INCREDIBLE! The only problem was that they take a video of each flight for you to buy, which we were going to do, but the system malfunctioned and we didn't get any of it. They gave us a free DVD to try to make up for it, but come on, it was our first helicopter flight! They might need to check that system and get one that works better. One of the employees said "It happens sometimes." It shouldn't.

Thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Kaua’i with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters!! Our pilot, Barrett, was fantastic and personable. We booked online about a week prior to our tour and were fortunate enough to get the two front seats. Prior to scheduling, we checked the weather forecast and it seemed a bit grim. Don’t worry about the weather. The day we went the forecast was for cloudy, rainy, and windy. However, it was sunny, a little windy, but no rain!! If you go to Kaua’i, don’t skip the helicopter tour. Our experience with Blue Hawaiian was fantastic and would highly recommend them and their staff!

Kauai from the air

My husband and I did this tour in Kauai. I want to said that the blue Hawaiian helicopters are great. The company is very safety oriented and I believe it made me feel very safe traveling with them. The view of the Canyon of the Pacific from the air is fantastic, as well as the view of the water falls. However, I feel we did not see too much the Napali coast. That's the reason I am giving to them 4 instead 5. If you budget is limited and you are visiting Kauai, I recommend to take a boat tour that take you to the Napali Coast and rent a car for a day or two go to see the Waimea Canyon and other beautiful places of Kauai. If you want to take an helicopter tour anyway , the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter is the best.

Experience of a lifetime - not kidding

This was something our family will remember forever. It was the first helicopter ride for all of us, so that alone was special, but the trip just kept getting better and better as we went. We did the 2 hour Island Spectacular with waterfall landing. (If you're going to spend this much money anyway- get the best tour!) - Check in and briefing were quick and smooth. - Our pilot, Greg, was the best! Safe, knowledgable, funny, and personable. - Great views of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa as we flew over the saddle road on the way to the volcano. - Flew over the Kilauea caldera as we entered the park - even though there were flight restrictions due to the gas plume, Greg got us good views of the lava lake in the Halema'uma'u crater. Flew over a separate lava flow in the East Rift zone (which was great because the hike from the road in the park was >5 miles the next day when we went... we wouldn't have seen lava flowing if not for the helicopter ride!) - Toured the south end of the island a bit, before landing in Hilo for refueling & a bathroom break. - Flew north along the Hilo coast - saw whales in the ocean, and Greg dipped down so both sides could get a view. - Flew into the 2nd valley north of Hilo for an absolutely breathtaking view of the valley... This is an unpopulated valley and probably a stop on every helicopter tour, but to us it was just magnificent - like the Jurassic Park theme should be playing in the background. Greg got so close to the valley walls - super safe, but unbelievable. I didn't even take pictures here because I just wanted to take it all in with my eyes. - We exited the valley, and we paid the extra for the waterfall landing. BEST DECISION! There was this impossible landing spot, and we couldn't believe Greg was pulling the helicopter in here for a landing, but HE DID! (again, safe, but WOW). This is where our picture is from. What can I say that the picture doesn't say... - Finished the tour with a nice view of ranch country on the north end of the island, then back to the base in Waikoloa. - We were a family of 4 - they seat by weight so you can't choose. There are 2 seats up front (pilot + 2 others), and 4 in the back, so out of 6 passengers, 4 have direct window views. I had one of the "middle seats" and I have to say I could still see everything. The windows are huge and I could actually see out of both sides and the front. I have no complaints. - Yeah, it's expensive. Very expensive. But paraphrasing Ferris Bueller, it is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend it.

I was hesitant to go up in a helicopter but our lava boat was cancelled and the kids wanted to find some lava. They safety briefing was quick and helpful. We were then escorted outside to board the helicopter. Our pilot was Pat, he was friendly and funny throughout the tour. We had a great time, the lava was really bubbling and allowed us to see a lot. It was a great outing, at the end it seemed like it was too short.

Bucket list item checked
ビッグアイランド - ヒロ

Actually 2 items. Fly in a helicopter and see an active volcano caldera. The choppers are set up with great views from both sides and the pilot we had went to great lengths to set up good viewing for both sides. It took 10 minutes to get to the active part of the island and the pilot offered up information on some of the things that we were looking at on the way and was happy to answer questions. As we flew up towards the caldera, he found a surface lave flow for us to look at and then flew on to the main event. Lava was bubbling and flowing and I got lots of great pictures. The waterfalls were pretty but not my main reason for going. Loved it all.
