Went on a tour circling the island, including venturing out to Hana. This is the easiest and best way to see the whole of the island without having to endure the long road to Hana. Lots of waterfalls and beautiful beaches visible. Pilot gave a highly informative and insightful description of the island's culture and geography. Wish it could have been a longer tour. Ride was incredibly smooth.
Blue Hawaiian helicopters tours, I was booked on a 10.45am tour, unfortunately my GPS took me to the wrong airport on Maui (now know there's more than one airport on Maui) and I didn't make my flight. I rang them and without fuss they put me on another flight later in the day. When I arrived I asked about a refund for the difference between my original tour and the one I was going on, they rang the agent I had booked thru and arranged. Flight was great I got to sit next to the pilot. Scenery was amazing and flight so smooth.
Organized, friendly staff. Felt very safe while being taken by competent lady pilot along the south shores and over Haleakula dormant volcano. Good tour guide, warm personality, patient with kids questions. Mega expensive but worth it!!!
We did the West Maui/Molokai tour in a Eco-Star helicopter piloted by Rick. It's nigh impossible to describe how amazing this experience was, so I won't try. Just picture soaring cliffs, beautiful valleys, stunning waterfalls and you'll get some idea. Rick, our pilot, was low key, informative, and exhibited the perfect aura of cool confidence that set our group of helicopter neophytes at ease. Plus, he provided everyone in the aircraft fabulous views no matter where seated. Outstanding experience...just do it!
Highly recommended tour of Hawaii. The Maui Spectacular was well worth the money. Ask for Rick as your pilot! Totally awesome
The staff greeted us as we came in the door and checked us all in. There were five of us. After watching the safety video, we donned our lifejackets and stood in line. We were escorted out. They take your weight so the computer can assign you a seat. Upon getting on the helicopter, our pilot Mike T. introduced himself and gave us details on the new helicopter we were taking up. He knew our names and where we were seating so he could look at you if he asked you a question. As far as the views, they were spectacular. This was my first helicopter ride in Hawaii. The helicopter had huge windows so everyone could see and he would rotate the helicopter around so everyone could get pictures. He took time to answer our questions. It was a great experience.
We were suposed to do the full island tour in Maui but had to be re-routed due to weather. Initially we were a bit disapointed but Rick really made the most of it by taking us to Molokai. I must say, I feel like Molokai has more to offer than Maui if you have to pick. Rick, ou pilo, was polite, funny and pro. The playlist he has prepared was magical, especially has we approach the world's largest sea cliff! Once in a lifetime experience!
We decided to take the Ecostar which is the craft that seats less people and we decided that we needed the hour to see Maui as it can only be seen by helicopter. We arrived in the morning of 9-7-15. We were promptly taken aboard, mind you, I was nervous, but as soon as he took off, it was the most fun you could possibly wish for. It was stunning! If you have the time take the hour to tour all of Maui! So much fun. See you all next year. Our pilot was very knowledgeable about what we were seeing and explained without talking throughout the flight.. Sometimes there are no words for what you are seeing. Sit back and enjoy the view! Aloha and Mahalo
We went as a family outing of 9. Split into two helicopters and the experience was incredible. It was so unreal how the helicopter can dip in to see live lava and waterfalls all in a 2 hour adventure. The company was friendly, accommodating, and the experience was unreal.
Pilot was knowledgeable and friendly. Loved the tour and the musical soundtrack but wouldn't have minded the Jurrasic Park theme thrown in somewhere haha! Beautiful way to spend an hour and get a different perspective of the islands.
You have not seen Hawaii until you have seen it with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. From the time we arrived at the Heliport, to the time we exited, the staff went above and beyond our expectations. The views from these spacious Helicopters, and the knowledgeable pilot made this the best part of our trip. Thanks guys
As you can see from the title, heights are not my thing. Once you get up in the air, you don't even feel like you're moving. I would have kicked myself for not trying this. My wife and I rode with a lovely family from Australia. Our pilot, Justin, was very knowledgeable, and was able to give us points on how and when to see the things we were flying over. He even gave us an additional 10 minutes in flight because he is so into what he does- which is flying helicopters. If you're afraid of fatalities- I did the research, which you can too. In 15 years, they estimate a total of 50,000 flights on the islands with 10 crashes. That's 1 in every 5000. You have a greater chance of getting into a car accident on your way TO the attraction. Blue Hawaiian was also the top rated helicopter tour place form what I could see on the internet. Also, for an extra $25, you can get the DVD of your tour. It's worth the money. Go another $10 over that and you get a tour of 4 islands that you can watch so you can plan your next trip over.
We toured West Maui and Molokai and the views are one of a kind spectacular. Although I'm not a fan of airplanes, heights, etc. and was a little nervous our pilot Ryan put me right at ease. He was professional, courteous, knowledgeable, friendly and clearly loves what he does which made the tour that much more enjoyable. I highly recommend Blue Hawaiian and plan to tour with them again on my next visit.
I highly recommend the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour. This was something my husband wanted to do so I went along. I really didn't have a desire to go and thought it would be an expensive excursion and not sure it was worth the money. Well let me just say it was spectacular. Maui it gorgeous but seeing it from the air gives you a whole new perspective on the island. The waterfalls, the farming, the valleys... just gorgeous. The whole experience from the office (very clean and professional) to the music on the helicopter was first class. Our pilot was and he was so nice and knowledgeable. They give you a mike so you can ask questions which was unexpected. Let me just say I was smiling from ear to ear the whole time I was in the helicopter. It was amazing. They do offer you a CD of the trip (but don't push it on you at all) for $26. Considering we have "swam with the dolphins" on other vacations and they was $100 for that video this was a steal. If you have the extra money to spend I would do this.
We did the “full island tour”, which I found very enjoyable. The clouds around Haleakala cleared enough to see the observatory; lots of waterfalls; flying into the valley and seeing Honokohau waterfall (I think) was very exciting. The “flying through the mountains/valleys” was what made the price worth it for me. Pilot was informative, friendly, and very receptive to questions.
