My wife and I had booked a Maui Spectacular tour through Blue Hawaiian and I can say that the tour certainly will not disappoint most passengers. Our pilot had fantastic knowledge of the islands and brought us up close to several fantastic spots. The stop on the Haleakala ranch with champagne was the cherry on top of a ride where we saw waterfalls and even a whale this late in the season. We were in an Ecostar and, unfortunately, not all views are equal. Everything we had read had stated that all seating with Blue Hawaiian was strictly by weight, but one passenger had found a way to buy his way into the front. I saw a previous reviewer stating they were in the front because they weighed the least, but i saw the weight card given to the pilot and my wife and i weighed as much as just one passenger in the front of our ride, so do not bank on this when booking. Also, the left side of the helicopter, behind the pilot, tends to be facing land when traveling along the coast (the route goes counter-clockwise around the island) and if you are seated there you will not show up at all on the interior camera shots on the DVD, so it isn't worth purchasing at that point. With more passenger eyes on the other side, it is understandable that it gets a bit of priority. Some bad luck on our part, but overall a fun trip.
We did the whole island tour. I was a bit nervous at first as I have never been in a helicopter before, but it was a smooth ride. There is so much to see from the air that you could never experience otherwise, the valleys, waterfalls, and the unihabited coastline was a sight to see. We paid a little more for the eco-star which was great.
I recently went on the blue hawaiian eco tour maui spectacular. I must say first, our guide Emery was fantastic in the narration of the tour. He was extremely knowledgable and professional throughout the tour. I would like to give him credit for making this tour even better than anticipated. The tour was 90 minutes and the views, well, we went at 4:30pm which kinda worried me with the sunlight winding down, but I will admit there were no issues with having amazing views of the entire island. Beautiful valleys and waterfalls were plentiful not to mention the volcanic crater we were able to see was stunning. We landed on an old extinct volcanic outlet and had a "refreshing drink" overlooking portions of the island and Molokai. Views again were absolutely wonderful! They record you during the tour inside the helicopter which you can purchase later for 25.00 dollars. I purchased ours but will say I wish it was in HD. Clarity is your average high 8 video cam quality. Overall, you have options as to how long of a tour you'd like to go on, but I can tell you from experience if I didn't go at least 60 minutes I would have missed out on some amazing views. Check out Blue Hawaiian! Ask for Emery!!!!
This place is located near the airport, eay check in and away you go. Fanastic scenery unable to see any other way. Mike our pilot had some good comentary to go along with the flight. We left Maui and headed to Malaki where Jarasic Park was filmed, pod of whales were seen headed north. Just a great trip.
What can we say. This was a trip for my Grandmother and son to enjoy together. We picked the Maui spectacular and it did not let us done. Our pilot was fabulous and he was knowledgeable with all of the local customs and information. We loved that he was a local and knew the chronology of the local people and the history of the climate and area. When changed our plans to site see based on his information and our view of the beautiful Island of Maui and we are booking our plans based on them tonight. Book today and save yourselves time in deciding what to do on Maui. PS. Who cares if they fly over Opras's house. LOL
The Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tour was the first event that my wife and I experienced while visiting Maui. We had never ridden in a Helicopter before but I had researched diffferent Helicopter Tours and concluded that Blue Hawaiian was our best and safest choice. As it turned out, I made the right decision. The people who are employed there were all very friendly and accomodating. Our Tour Guide was excellent. The star of course was the fantastic scenery that can only be seen in the air. You will see waterfalls from over two thousand feet, cliffs and mountains, and a few whales during the season. I would recommend putting this Helicopter Tour first on your list in order to get a full appreciation of the beauty of this island and a better understanding of the unique eco system and history of the island and it's people.
Spectacular!!! Really a great time with exceptional views. Glenda was a great pilot and very knowledgeable about the islands. She made it very enjoyable. Fun times when she takes you up and down around the water falls and valleys. Would love to do it again and again and again. Highly recommend Glenda... Aloha - The Brunsons
We did the 60-minute full tour of Maui yesterday and it was fabulous. This was my first helicopter ride and I found the whole experience exciting. Chris, our pilot, gave wonderful narration as he flew over the island. The flight was breathtaking. We took the new EcoStar which was pricey but worth every penny. I highly recommend this trip.
The staff at Blue Hawaiian Maui were so friendly and Emery, our pilot, was extremely informative and knowledgeable. Will definitely book our tour of the Big Island with you! Mahalo!
Aaaa mazing spectacular views of the islands really close up to water falls etc. Highly recommended - don't miss it! 10/10 to Tim our pilot who gave a really interesting commentary through out the flight.
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters was recommended by our tour book and they delivered! It is a first-rate company with state of the art helicopters and excellent pilots. From the check-in to safety video to airport transport and actual tour, they know what they're doing. Our pilot Geoff grew up on Kauai and had some great information to share. As a pilot, he was top notch...even warned us when were going to feel a bump! Views from helicopter were excellent and he made sure to approach from both sides so everyone could see the full view. Be sure to follow direction about clothing - stop at Wal-Mart for a black or dark grey t-shirt so you won't have reflections in your pics...
If you are looking for a helicopter ride to see the whole island, it was a wonderful trip. They have beautiful, well maintained copters and they are very safety conscious. The pilot, Jeoffrey, was a calming influence if you are at all nervous and also informative. It was so spectacular and my suggestion is buy the video and enjoy the ride. I spent too much time trying to take photos and videos and I should have just sat back and enjoyed the experience. Free parking in shopping mall parking lot for anyone taking the trip and entire staff polite and friendly. Another fabulous option if you are nervous about a helicopter ride is NaPali Experience,LLC. A 24' speedboat takes you on a fabulous trip along the NaPali Coast with 7 or less passengers with optional snorkeling, snacks and a fabulous captain. We had Drew and he was a great guy who knew all about the island and gave us much more than we expected. Do not miss this trip, you'll feel like you're out on a friend's private boat and when you exit the breathtaking caves and see all the people on the larger sightseeing boats gazing at you coming out of the caves and wishing they were on your boat, you know you made the right choice. Enjoy Kauai, it is a magnificent palette of endless color and beauty.
We really enjoyed our helicopter ride with Blue Hawaiian. Our pilot had a great sense of humor and was full of interesting information about the island and history!
I have been on several helicopter rides in other vacation locations, and I have to say, that Blue Hawaiian was the most professional and well run helicopter company I have ever toured with. Emery was our pilot. He was fantastic. We simply had a blast with him. He knew the entire area and answered all of our questions. This business has a whole process from when you walk in the door to when you get on the helicopter. They definitely put safety first. Its a huge plus that they have a nice waiting area and clean bathrooms. Trust me, some of the helicopter places I have been to have been in po-dunk locations with outhouses. Ew. We did the Hana/Halaeakala tour. I highly recommend it. Don't waste your time in a car driving to Hana. Just fly over it and call it good. This is an investment experience. And for us, it was worth every penny.
Flew twice out of Maui two weeks ago and both fights were exceptional. No cowboy maneuvers in order to impress yet saw beautiful bluffs, waterfalls, and vistas one cannot see any other way. First pilot was Tim who took us to Lanai and gave pertinent information to learn yet didn't talk the whole time. Second flight to the crater and Hana was less informative but the views were spectacular. Second flight DVD did not record, an ongoing problem according to the crew. For the money charged this should be fixed.
