We did a flight over Oahu as one of our first activites of our honeymoon on Oahu. This is really the best thing to start with as you will get the best possible overview of the island and you know exactly which places you want to vistit next on the ground. It is so wonderful to fly with an helicopter over this beautiful island and it is a breathtaking expericence. Julie was not only a perfect pilot but a also a skilled guide and commented all sceneries in a very lively and authentic way. She even detected a whale when flying on the coastline and changed immeditately the flight course. The way Blue Hawaiien Heli organizes the whole proecedure from starting to landing lets you feel save all the time. You even can get a video recording about your individual flight taken by internal and external cameras. Also a learning, even if you have hight phobia, it is no problem joining a heli ride.
It had been a while since I'd been on a helicopter and I wanted to give our nine-year-old son a treat. My last ride had been quite bumpy but our pilot (Tim) and Mother Nature gave us a smooth ride. Maui is a truly beautiful island with lots of places you can only see by helicopter. My only complaint was that Tim was a very flat though opinionated narrator. When I go up on a very expensive ride, I don't want to hear the pilot's complaints about Monsanto and their GMOs. I want history and charm. This is a good company, though. Very safety conscious and their equipment seemed to be top notch.
Did the Maui spectacular tour which comes with a landing on the side of Haleakala. Chose the Ecostar helicopter, and had an amazing experience. I booked via internet to save a few $$. BH may be a bit more expensive but worth every penny, can't say enough about it.
I have never been on a helicopter ride and being afraid of heights I was worried this would bother me...but it didn't at all. We had emery as our pilot and he was so nice and informative. The views were beautiful and amazing. We did the trip molokai and west maui mountains and loved it.
Our Blue Hawaiian Helicopter ride was the highlight of our trip! Our pilot was very well informed and told us many interesting stories and facts about the island. Our next trip to Maui will also include another ride but to a different part of the island.
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters is a wonderful experience when visiting Kauai.....WHAT a way to see the island.....worth EVERY penny. It is one of those experiences that will last a lifetime! I can still see the beauty of the island and hear the lovely music playing and it still brings me a sense of peace and beauty!
You must sign up for this helicopter tour! Our pilot was from Connecticut and very knowledgabe not just on helicopters and flying but also on the history of the island.
I booked a complete Island tour on an Ecostar helicopter on the Internet with Blue Hawaiian. The Ecostar has a greater viewing area even though I paid for a front row window seat. The pilot Tim Perry was as professional as one could hope for. He always asked if we comfortable during the flight when ascending or decending during the tour. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Hawaii and the culture. He spoke about the sights we were seeing. We were fortunate to see humpback whales breaching. He piloted over the area and it was fascinating. Tim was amusing at times and this added to his wonderful story of Hawaiian history. We climbed to almost 10,000 feet to view the extinct volcano on Maui. His ability to maneuver carefully in the valleys and give us spectacular views was incredible. Never once did I feel uncomfortable during the flight. I give Blue Hawaiian rave reviews. The staff was professional, the office area nicely decorated, the bathrooms clean and a free coffee service was offered.
My wife and I had booked a Maui Spectacular tour through Blue Hawaiian and I can say that the tour certainly will not disappoint most passengers. Our pilot had fantastic knowledge of the islands and brought us up close to several fantastic spots. The stop on the Haleakala ranch with champagne was the cherry on top of a ride where we saw waterfalls and even a whale this late in the season. We were in an Ecostar and, unfortunately, not all views are equal. Everything we had read had stated that all seating with Blue Hawaiian was strictly by weight, but one passenger had found a way to buy his way into the front. I saw a previous reviewer stating they were in the front because they weighed the least, but i saw the weight card given to the pilot and my wife and i weighed as much as just one passenger in the front of our ride, so do not bank on this when booking. Also, the left side of the helicopter, behind the pilot, tends to be facing land when traveling along the coast (the route goes counter-clockwise around the island) and if you are seated there you will not show up at all on the interior camera shots on the DVD, so it isn't worth purchasing at that point. With more passenger eyes on the other side, it is understandable that it gets a bit of priority. Some bad luck on our part, but overall a fun trip.
We did the whole island tour. I was a bit nervous at first as I have never been in a helicopter before, but it was a smooth ride. There is so much to see from the air that you could never experience otherwise, the valleys, waterfalls, and the unihabited coastline was a sight to see. We paid a little more for the eco-star which was great.
I recently went on the blue hawaiian eco tour maui spectacular. I must say first, our guide Emery was fantastic in the narration of the tour. He was extremely knowledgable and professional throughout the tour. I would like to give him credit for making this tour even better than anticipated. The tour was 90 minutes and the views, well, we went at 4:30pm which kinda worried me with the sunlight winding down, but I will admit there were no issues with having amazing views of the entire island. Beautiful valleys and waterfalls were plentiful not to mention the volcanic crater we were able to see was stunning. We landed on an old extinct volcanic outlet and had a "refreshing drink" overlooking portions of the island and Molokai. Views again were absolutely wonderful! They record you during the tour inside the helicopter which you can purchase later for 25.00 dollars. I purchased ours but will say I wish it was in HD. Clarity is your average high 8 video cam quality. Overall, you have options as to how long of a tour you'd like to go on, but I can tell you from experience if I didn't go at least 60 minutes I would have missed out on some amazing views. Check out Blue Hawaiian! Ask for Emery!!!!
This place is located near the airport, eay check in and away you go. Fanastic scenery unable to see any other way. Mike our pilot had some good comentary to go along with the flight. We left Maui and headed to Malaki where Jarasic Park was filmed, pod of whales were seen headed north. Just a great trip.
What can we say. This was a trip for my Grandmother and son to enjoy together. We picked the Maui spectacular and it did not let us done. Our pilot was fabulous and he was knowledgeable with all of the local customs and information. We loved that he was a local and knew the chronology of the local people and the history of the climate and area. When changed our plans to site see based on his information and our view of the beautiful Island of Maui and we are booking our plans based on them tonight. Book today and save yourselves time in deciding what to do on Maui. PS. Who cares if they fly over Opras's house. LOL
The Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tour was the first event that my wife and I experienced while visiting Maui. We had never ridden in a Helicopter before but I had researched diffferent Helicopter Tours and concluded that Blue Hawaiian was our best and safest choice. As it turned out, I made the right decision. The people who are employed there were all very friendly and accomodating. Our Tour Guide was excellent. The star of course was the fantastic scenery that can only be seen in the air. You will see waterfalls from over two thousand feet, cliffs and mountains, and a few whales during the season. I would recommend putting this Helicopter Tour first on your list in order to get a full appreciation of the beauty of this island and a better understanding of the unique eco system and history of the island and it's people.
Spectacular!!! Really a great time with exceptional views. Glenda was a great pilot and very knowledgeable about the islands. She made it very enjoyable. Fun times when she takes you up and down around the water falls and valleys. Would love to do it again and again and again. Highly recommend Glenda... Aloha - The Brunsons
