Our first helicopter ride- amazing way to see stunning geological spaces!!!!! 5 of us in the helicopter (seats for 6 passengers plus the pilot) - comfortable seats and climate controlled - excellent visibility through large windows and pilot approaches significant sights from multiple directions so all can see and film. Mark was our pilot- great commentary and encouraged questions. Your flight is filmed and is available as a USB stick for purchase Do NOT miss this experience!!!!!
Our pilot, Brian, was wonderful. He made everyone on the tour feel comfortable and safe, making it easier for everyone to relax and enjoy the ride! Truly spectacular views with some of the history of the island as well as restaurant and activity recommendations. Would absolutely recommend this tour.
We went for a tour today with Greg, our most excellent pilot who took us on the most amazing sky adventure we have experienced in our lives! This is our 5th trip to Kauai and first t Me we’ve taken a helicopter trip. It’s amazing, smooth and safe. Words cannot describe it completely so experience it for yourself! You will be as slack jawed in wonder as we were.
If you get the chance and you can afford it, do it. We were 6 guests plus the pilot on the flight. You get weighed before the flight and depending on your weight they place you in the helicopter. 15 minutes safety briefing and off you go. Of course you have the best view sitting in front (there are 2 places next to the pilot), but even in the middle back seat (4seats in the back) you have Great views and lots of opportunities to take pictures. The pilot gives lots of information about what you see, you can ask questions and in between you listen to fun music. The tour took an hour and you get to see a great part of the island. Have fun!
We decided to do one last adventure on our Kauai trip and we were so lucky to be able to get on a Blue Hawaiian Helicopter ride! Marty was our pilot and he was fantastic! We have seen the island by foot, by water, by car, by tube, and by horse. Seeing it from a helicopter was the absolute best way to see all of Kauai! We saved the best for last! Huge thanks to our pilot, Marty, and the friendly staff at BH!
We came to Kauai and stayed in Lihue for our babymoon. This is our third baby and I came when I was 24 weeks pregnant. I was SO nervous to do the helicopter tour but it was something everyone said we just had to do, so we booked it! We got into the helicopter with 4 other people not including our Pilot Marty. He was AMAZING! Ask for him if you do this! He has over 25 years of experience and had the most calm and soothing voice! As soon as we lifted off he had the best tropical music playing and it instantly put my nerves at ease! It felt like we were gliding and barely moving! He gave us an incredible tour of the island, explained so many things and it was really informative! On the ground it was a bit overcast but when we got into the air it was totally clear and we had the most breath taking views I've ever seen! I've never seen so many waterfalls in my life and the Napali coast was gorgeous! The flight was 55 minutes and as soon as we landed I wanted to do it again! You have to do this tour if you come here. It will be the best thing you do by far!
WE had an hour helicopter tour and it was fabulous. Sean did a great job explaining what we were seeing and a bit about himself and the island. It was a bit expensive but such a great experience. Had some trouble with the staff saying my reservation had not been paid for, I had to pay twice but then after some convincing and a phone call, I was reimbursed. I thought the clerk was a bit brisk about the situation but it was she, who found the solution, so I was happy. Great company, great experience.
Greg was the best tour operator with tons of great information about the island. He made sure that everyone felt special and had spectacular views of all the sites. This is a trip I highly recommend!!
We had the best time on this tour! We did an 8am tour and I would highly recommend doing it this way because the weather is generally better in the morning and on the day of our tour, there wasn't a cloud in the sky, so our views of the island were incredible and we were done with the tour by 9:30am and had the rest of our day to explore more of the island. My husband is a pilot so we saved $50/each on our tour, which was great, but the tour is usually $299/person, which is extremely reasonable compared to all the other helicopter tour prices I found and 100% worth splurging on. Wear dark colored clothes to reduce glare on the windows so you and the others in your helicopter can get better photos. They only allow you to take your phone or a camera with you inside the helicopter. They take you around the island for an hour and you get to see everything! We saw places on the island that we wouldn't have been able to during our stay, either because they are only accessible by air (ie. inside the Waimea Canyon, Jurassic Falls, so many waterfalls on the island) or because we didn't have time since we were only in Kauai for 4 days. The roads to the Napali Coast are currently closed because they are under construction so the only way to see that part of the island is by boat or air and it's so beautiful and we got to see it all, as well as all the beaches on that side of the island, which was awesome. This ended up being one of our favorite things we did in Hawaii and Kauai was definitely the place to do it! It was well worth splurging on and I would highly recommend this!
I was nervous to book my family of 5 on a helicopter tour as it seemed a good way to wind up on the evening news. My husband was set on this being the only activity he cared about in Kauai and really wanted us to do it. Since the safety stats really are in our favor and we decided to make the investment. It is a LOT of money for a family to spend on a 1 hour activity, so I was really hoping it would be worth it. Because it was Kauai and because you can only see parts of the island by air, boat or foot, and we only had 4 days there, we wanted to go for it. We booked it for our first day, at 9AM. Since we are east coasters, and knew the jet lag would have us up super early on our first day, this was not too early (we were all up at 4 or 5AM). Plus we wanted to preview the island in case there were parts we wanted to go back to. And I thought the winds would be less trouble earlier in the day. I wasn't sure if motion sickness is a thing on helicopters and my kids are sometimes iffy, so I gave us each a Dramamine just in case. I'll never know if we needed it or not, but nobody got sick. And the flight was pretty smooth, quiet and not scary after the initial 3 seconds lifting up. The views were amazing, of course. Our pilot gave commentary and answered questions the whole time. We had noise cancelling headphones and shared microphones to ask questions. It was a once in a lifetime experience and so worth it on this island.
Both my husband and I thought this was an amazing experience and would do it again. Our pilot Beth was exceptional and we immediately felt safe and comfortable with her. This was a great way to see the island and gives a perspective that you'd never have with a car or boat tour.
Excellent flight on state of the art helicopters- highlight of my whole trip- best hour I spent on Kauai! Everyone was really nice and it went by without a glitch! Totally fun thing to do and got to go on a really nice day! Was fun to see such a beautiful part of the earth from up in the air- pilot was excellent and had the most interesting things to say about the whole coast! Nepali coast was magical!
My wife and I took the Blue Hawaii Helicopter tour from the Lihui Airport. We were both fairly leery about taking a ride on a helicopter, our first, but we were both pleasantly surprised. We had to wait an hour to take the tour, and we first watched a safety film. After that, we got some hurried and often unintelligible (to me, at any rate) instructions. When we got in the helicopter, my wife sat next to the pilot, and I sat to her right, next to the door. There were five additional passengers in two rows of seats behind us. The whole flight lasted a little under an hour. Although we had on headphones, I had trouble understanding much of what the pilot said. My problem was that I put the headphones on incorrectly; be sure you don't make this mistake. We flew over large portions of the interior, and it was pretty obvious why the interior is mostly uninhabitable. We also flew over a portion of the coastline. The whole thing was pretty spectacular and not scary like I thought it might be. Here's a little of what my wife wrote in her journal: "We had a microphone [passed around so different passengers could ask questions] so we could ask Miguel [our pilot] questions. Miguel used each person's name when he answered questions. It was a good experience. I didn't feel sick or bad at all." She would have given the experience a 5, but I had a problem with the instructions. Also, after we got out of the helicopter, I started to unfasten the 4-point safety harness and was scolded for this by one of the employees. She gave me what I considered a ridiculous reason for why I shouldn't have done it.
If you have the opportunity to take a ride do it. This was the highlight of our trip to Hawaii!!! Breath taking views of the coast, canyon and waterfalls. Matthew our pilot was great and gave us a ton of information about the island as we flew over. I felt safe the whole time and really can not even express how amazing it was.
Great experience! They maneuver right up to the waterfalls and into Waimea Canyon and various valleys! Our pilot seemed very knowledgeable and used to fly Blackhawks, so we felt very safe! If you get motion sick, remember to take your Dramamine!
