Easy to book online a few days in advance and accommodated a request in time change for my flight. Pilot was great! The flight was so much smoother than the last time I was on a helicopter. Not only was the ride great but our pilot pointed out some interesting things and was knowledgable about the island. Would definitely recommend!
We had an excellent time with pilot Greg. He cheerfully delivered interesting information (he is very knowledgeable) through our ride and kept it fun and engaging. He went above and beyond, tight maneuvering to get up close and even saw a full circle rainbow (didn’t know it was possible). Great perspectives on the island and highly recommend!
It was expensive but very worth it! You get to see all of the island. We were on Kauai for two weeks so we got to see a lot of the areas by other means (boat, driving, etc) but you get a much better/closer view via helicopter. The helicopter itself was very nice and clean. We went as a family with kids aged 7 & 12 and we all loved it. If you don’t have many days to visit Kauai this would be the thing I would recommend to do. Also, we got the video of the tour and glad we did. Our pilot Matt was excellent.
This is a MUST DO! The most unbelievable scenery you will ever see! Kauai is a very quiet island with breathtaking scenery. This is your chance to see everything. Be aware that I took a Dramamine and I still got sick! If you have bad motion sickness, please take Dramamine or something stronger. Our pilot (Miguel) was excellent as well.
So happy we did this before we left the island. We were able to see places we were unable reach during our time. I am slightly claustrophobic and was put on first & as other started boarding I felt the impulse to get off. So glad I did not!!! I was able to talk to the pilot Jason, who was fantastic and he talked to me casually to distract me. Once we were up in the air I was so fascinated by how beautiful Kauai was from above all I could do was smile. The Napli Coast, water falls, canyons- this is a must do!!!!! They ask you to wear black for a very good reason- the light color reflects off the glass. My husband's pictures had the light shirt of the person in front seat- no landscape. Pictures he took next to me (wearing all black) came out fabulous. A fantastic experience!!!
We just can't say enough about this experience! We splurged on this for our first day in Kaua'i and we are SO glad we did. The topography and microclimates on this island are incredibly unique and diverse -- seeing all the variations in 50 mins is just amazing. Our pilot was ultra professional (military experience). The flight was so smooth, and we felt extremely safe. The noise-cancelling headphones made it easy to hear his narration, as well as the soothing soundtrack. We bought the ($40) video, although I have to say the way it was edited (in a hurry) it didn't always follow his live narration. The video absolutely can't capture the 360-degree grandeur. But when we watch it, we remember most of the views and it helps us relive our fantastic experience. I looked at a lot of different tours and since safety was pretty important to us, I decided to go with the company that is most established and has the largest presence on the island.
I took this flight in mid-February, as soon as we landed on Kauai. I almost didn't do it, since it was a big splurge. But I am so glad I did. Kauai is amazing because of its beauty and the very different topography and views. Also, it's almost impossible for most people to see most of it. So the helicopter ride gives you an amazing view of incredible natural beauty. I felt like I was in a National Geographic movie. I cannot overstate how awe inspiring the views were. Our pilot was wonderful and took advantage of a rare clear day to fly over the wettest place on earth. It brought tears to our eyes, it was so beautiful! My advice is to prioritize this activity. If you are nervous about the flight, try to put that aside. The helicopter is very comfortable and they do everything possible to ensure that you are safe and feel safe.
If you only splurged on one activity while on Kauai, this should be it. Very professional safety presentation for the trip. Views in the canyon and crater are incredible. Don't miss the chance to see Kauai from the air...it's worth every dollar.
Unfortunately the weather wasn't the greatest for our helicopter tour of Kaua'i - it was wet, and the wind was blustery in places - but I'd still recommend helicopter as the way to see Kaua'i, especially if you're on a tight travel schedule. The whole check-in and briefing process was brilliant. As was boarding the chopper. Our pilot didn't have much to say during the tour, he just pointed out the main sights. I realised when we returned to the base and saw the dvd recordings of other flights, that other pilots definitely shared more. Having said this, I was happy for our pilot to focus on making our flight safe and as comfortable as possible. If I'm back on Kaua'i again, and the weather is good, I'm going to do this trip again. :)
Our favorite Kauai activity! Greg gave us a once in a lifetime flight over the island. His background music was soft and enhanced our trip. He shared pertinent info and was very personable. I highly recommend him and Blue Hawaiian
I recently experienced a one hour helicopter ride while in Kauai. The experience is hard to describe. Kauai is largely inaccessible, and this tour was a great way to see the island. The Napali Coast was amazing from the air! Our pilot was knowledgeable, friendly and very professional. The trip is a bit costly, but it is definitely worth every penny spent!
Unfortunately can't recall the name of our pilot but I was so nervous I almost threw up BEFORE the flight and didn't want to go. As soon as we arrived, I realized how professional of an operation Blue Hawaiian is and felt way more relaxed. I was very nervous for take off (terrified of heights) but really trusted the pilot and felt super calm in his more than capable hands. It was one of the coolest things I've ever done and we loved this flight! Highly recommend this company! TIP: Even if you don't get motion sickness, consider taking 1 gravol before your flight or using another anti-nausea method that works for you. I took one gravol about 1 hour before take-off and felt perfectly fine and had the time of my life. My husband, who said he never gets nauseous and refused to take one, barely enjoyed himself because he thought he was going to be sick in the helicopter (he also sat in the middle seat because of the weight distribution and I'm sure this didn't help...)
I and my mother were on a small trip dec 1 2018 to Kauai. We came across blue Hawaiian casually and we're in for a beautiful trip of our lifetime. The pilot Greg took us on ec 130 helicopter with 7 people in all per ride. We heard the Jurassic park theme while seeing the wailua falls. It was enchanting, I would again take this ride at the drop of a hat. I was 285 pounds and they had 280 pounds per seat and so I had to buy 1.5 seats and it was worth every bit! If you ever go to Kauai please don't miss this opportunity! My mom had a dream come true. I got goose bumps when the pilot took us around!
Our family of 4 (kids ages 9 & 11) took this excursion last week while we were on spring break. It was absolutely the highlight of our trip. Our pilot was so wonderful at putting our nerves at ease & my kids weren’t scared at all. There was so much beauty from take off to return. Wear. Lock from head to toe. The reflections are no joke. I had a black shirt & shorts & my white legs reflected in a lot of my photos! :(. This trip is worth every penny.... don’t miss it!
From the pickup and drop off at the cruise boat dock, to the most beautiful sights I have ever seen, this tour was by far my favourite excursion to date. The staff was very professional. I felt safe at all times. Our pilot Marty was very informative and friendly. He told us many things about Kauai from his years of experience living there. You could tell he enjoyed his job and the group we flew with went away feeling like family. I want to tell everyone, if you ever go to Kauai, make sure you experience this amazing journey, one I will never forget. Go Team Marty!!!
