The Blue Hawaiian team is professional and friendly and I found them all very courteous from the driver of the transportation vehicle to the Pilot and everyone I met in between! The staff knows how to make everyone comfortable (some people were a little nervous) and they are very thorough with safety instructions and making sure everyone is paying attention. The equipment is clean and inviting and great care is taken throughout the tour to make sure everyone gets a good view. There is not a bad seat in the helicopter! Our pilot Jeff remembered everyone's name and often spoke to each of us calling us by name using the in flight intercom system. I was able to purchase our inflight video which shows not only the surrounding landscape, but also captured some moments of the people inside the chopper which is PROOF that I did it! LOL. Great service and fantastic trip - breathtaking! My husband gets vertigo so I booked this as an excursion from the Pride of America cruise ship making me a "solo". The price would be better if booked on your own, but this gave me the transportation and timing I needed to get back to the ship on time. There were 4 other passengers, a pilot in training and our pilot for a total of 7 people in the helicopter. The two people in front had the best seats of course, but I had a window in the back seat and I was just as happy. Customers are seated according to weight to balance out the aircraft so you don't have a choice of seats - you are placed where you need to be by the company. Great memories that will stay with me for a long time.
My family and I did the tour of Oahu. It was 45 minutes, and it was extremely informative. I got the back window seat, and I could see everything. My pilot was Jen. Ask for Jen! She was absolutely fantastic. She looks very young but she was a Blackhawk pilot at Iraq. We saw sacred falls, movie sets, and many other awesome things. The 45 minutes went by so fast, and I was so sad when it was over. Jen even told us that by the big island, another island is forming. Cool right? She took us over the dole plantation, and took us the exact route the Japanese took when they bombed Oahu. I was extremely impressed, I would definitely recommend this to anyone going to a Hawaiian island!
We booked our family of 6 on Blue Hawaiian, based on other Trip Advisor reviews. They aren't the cheapest, but with 2 people prone to motion sickness, cheap wasn't what we wanted! Booking, easy. Our taxi driver didn't speak English, so we wound up at the main terminal-and had to call Blue Hawaiian for help. They quickly sent a shuttle over to retrieve us, so gracious and helpful! Having 6 people, we filled the EcoStar helicopter which we loved. Our pilot was Jen, who flew Blackhawk helicopters when she was active duty. (Yes, we LOVE supporting our veterans!), also gave us great confidence in her skills. She was great at communicating with the kids, got some good highlights on what we were seeing, and a very smooth ride. We highly recommend this adventure!
We enjoyed our Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour so much on Maui that we did it again on O'ahu! Our pilot was awesome and very informative! Loved seeing the island from above! We would do it again! Highly recommend! Worth every dollar! (Book online for a discount!)
I have never been in a helicopter, so that part was so awesome. I never thought I'd have the courage to do this, but I decided to put my fears behind me and do it. The tour itself was interesting. The pilot/tour guide was very informative and tried to find us some active lava flows. I guess the lave a flow itself was different than I expected. Not a bad thing, just different. I guess I expected lots of flowing, maybe flaming lava, and that wasn't the case. I learned a lot on the tour and in the days after the tour. I would recommend it. Your will learn a lot and see interesting things. They did a great job.
Great service, great experience, fantastic helicopters and a totally awesome flight. This was a great way to see the diversity of Hawaii.
We took the Helicopter tour of volcano, along w/ Zipline Company tour excursion to waterfalls. Pilot personable, calls each of you by name ( a gimmick to personalize the DVD they try to sell afterward, but still a nice touch).
Blue Hawaiian came highly recommended by several people we spoke with in our resort, and before leaving for Kauai. I thought it was just the usual hype by people with a vested interest! I was wrong - this is the best and the ONLY helicopter tour operator to go with, in my opinion. Our pilot Marty was a highly experienced pilot and a very knowledgeable tour guide, all wrapped into one. He immediately noticed that our daughter was extremely nervous about flying and went out of his way to put her at ease through his encouraging comments and, above all, by flying that chopper ever-so-gently! Marty and the team at Blue Hawaiian are simply excellent at what they do. You can't go wrong.
Went up with Greg. Most amazing tour. Pricey but worth every penny. Got to hover in the middle of a 360 degree rainbow. Took us over most of the island. Most is accessible only by air or sea. Greg made sure we saw all the amazing waterfalls and valleys. He explained the history of the island and pointed out were movies like Jurassic park and Jurassic world had been filmed. Also showed us the movie stars' mansions. Such a beautiful island, would have missed tons if we had only driven around. Highly recommend.
We spent a little bit more for this tour - based on our concierge recommendation and it was sooooo worth it. Smooth as silk and felt like a much longer ride than just 55 minutes or so. First class facility and with our deal through the concierge we got a free t-shirt and video. be sure to wear dark clothes maybe even pants so your skin or light clothes don't create a reflection on the window - was a little annoying that the guy in front had super light legs that showed up in a lot of our pictures. Not his fault - just an observation. ENJOY!
We decided to do the helicopter tour on this island and we loved it!!!!!!! When you get there, they weigh you in. (If you weigh over 270 you have to purchase an extra seat) Then they take you over to a safety video. 7min long. Then off to your helicopter. You can purchase a video for $25 after the ride and it shows you and your party in the helicopter and everything you see. The people sitting in the front will get most of the camera action. You cannot choose your seats as they are assigned by weight. I suggest going through them directly and book. It will save you about $80. If your start time says 12:30, you will start an hour later because of weigh in and safety stuff. Make sure to wear dark colored shirt, because the windows in the helicopter Will have the color bounce back on you. They have extra shirts there to borrow or for sale if you forget. It's def worth every penny.
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, very professional. We were greeted as we arrived. Safety briefing next, answered all questions about the flight. Pilot was wonderful, took us around the island, into the canyons, along the coastline. Detailed explanation on all trails, rivers, waterfalls, and the history of the island. I took over 200 pictures. If you're a photographer, this is the tour for you.
This is a very professional run company that will show you a very beautiful and informative tour of the island of Kauai. A lot of the places you will see can only be viewed from a helicopter. One piece of advice I would give would be to take an airsick pill if your prone to motion sickness. Our ride was a bit bumpy.
This is a must do for anyone who visits Kauai. The access to pristine and untouched natural wonders is unparalleled. The pilot was extremely knowledgable and had extensive experience flying. The whole experience from arrival at the heliport to touch down and getting a high def DVD of the flight was first class.
My husband, and a couple friends did this 55 min tour around the island. We did this during their rainy season, so I was a little apprehensive about the weather conditions and being in a helicopter. No worries ! Our Pilot was very skilled, knew the island and where to go and when to go. We flew around several waterfalls, and even had pouring down rain, hitting the windshield of the helicopter, but not big deal....the rain didn't last for more than a minute, and we were out of it. A couple times you could feel the copter "move", and did give my stomach a little jolt, but it was over quickly. It was a beautiful tour and was happy we did it. Would highly recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tours. We had done one with this company last year, on Kona. Equally awesome !
