Unable to fly over the volcanoes due to poor weather I was more than disappointed! However the flight over the Kohala mountains and coast was very spectacular. Our pilot was friendly and informative; he skilfully steered the helicopter in and out of the valleys diving and swooping to see an amphitheatre like valley with numerous waterfalls cascading down to the valley floor. The change in vegetation and landscape was amazing as we returned to base. An experience I will never forget; just brilliant.

I booked the Big Island Spectacular + Landing about two weeks before arrival. On the advice of our concierge, we chose the Eco-Star helicopter (larger, designed for tourist flights, not PD or news reporters). So, basically, I got the full package. It was unbelievable! There was a little break in price ordering it on line. When I mentioned this to the hotel concierge on the phone from the mainland, she was able to get the same discounted price. It was really expensive, but it was my husband's birthday gift and the first day of our honeymoon. So there. We took the 9:15 flight. We were told that was the best chance to see the caldera. It paid off. We had a beautiful view of the lava bubbling and steam rising. We also followed a lava flow for a few minutes. Mind you, it wasn't totally dramatic like the most sensational views you've seen on TV, but to witness it yourself is awesome. Actually the ride up to the volcano crater is interesting enough. You can view the old lava flows and see how they've shaped the landscape through time. We then headed up toward Hilo and beyond. The view of the changing landscape, weather, etc. was wonderful. We flew over the ocean and land. Then we landed near a waterfall. Amazing! Really. Amazing! Even the ride back was beautiful for its views. I suppose any helicopter ride over a tropical island would be wonderful. Still, I was really glad we ordered "the works." We got great video from our iPhone. We also picked up the $40 video from the company. They were recording all along with four cameras and the inflight audio (music, narration, Q&A). At some points the iPhone video was actually better, but overall, if say, get their video. It's available on usb or dvd. No regrets. This was a wonderful day!

The helicopter ride was great. Our pilot, Jonathan gave us lots of information on the areas we were flying over. The views were great and the video they made of our trip will be something to help us relive it for a very long time. I highly recommend you take this tour.

While on a company Incentive Trip, we were taken on a wonderful tour of Oahu. Julie was a great pilot & tour guide. She answered questions and offered lots of information. It was my first helicopter ride and quite thrilling! The views of the ocean (we saw whales!), Diamond Head, Waikiki, mountains, waterfall, and Pineapple plantation were stunning. Everything was arranged for us - Blue Hawaiian was very organized and thorough. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Our Blue Hawaiian Helicopters tour of Kauai was one of the highlights of our stay in that beautiful place. The operation impressed us: the well-maintained facility, the emphasis on safety, the professionalism of the staff, the big-window helicopters themselves, and our skilled and informative pilot, Barrett. It didn’t hurt that we also had cooperative morning weather for spectacular views of Waimea Canyon and the Napali Coast, and just clear enough for us to enter the volcano cone. When we found that the DVD recording of the flight (purchased separately) didn’t play right, BHH replaced it unhesitatingly. Mahalo to all for an unforgettable experience.

My twelve year old and I took the Volcano and Island helicopter tour ... and I can tell you, any question I had about the cost and whether it would be worth it evaporated upon take-off. We flew across the entire island, saw bubbling lava consuming parts of the rain forest, flew directly above volcano and saw the lava and fire ... then to top it all off we flew across the northern coast (that we would not have otherwise seen) and saw the magic of the islands like I have never seen it before. We even sprung for the landing by the waterfall ... And, truly we will never forget. This is probably the first time I have ever bought the video in any location or attraction ... but we wanted to remember every moment ... Wow! Thank you Blue Hawaiian Helicopters for making it feel so professional and safe ... Since the volcano is not really spewing lava where you can see it any more, this is one of the only ways to see this remarkable force of nature ...

This was a great adventure. Our pilot was Jason and he was great. Beware if you are prone to motion sickness this helicopter will go in circles over the lava and around the waterfalls. I got pretty sick, but was still able to enjoy most of the ride. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely use this company again!

We were recommended by our concierge and even though the price was a little more went with an early morning Blue Hawaiian trip. I was worried about a helicopter flight in general but the views on this ride I am still talking about 5 months later. It is the number one must do on your trip to Kauai. My husband and I scored the front seats on the helicopter due to sizing and upfront requests and we had the ride of our lives.

We would to thank our helicopter pilot Noah, and Blue Hawaiian Helicopters for a most wonderful experience. We had an early morning flight, and although I am not a fan of heights, I relaxed quickly, and enjoyed a wonderful aerial view of beautiful Kauai. The tour was a very moving experience, and Noah was a most gracious "host in the sky"! so grateful I left my "comfort zone" to experience this beautiful tour!

What an amazing experience. Blue Hawaiian staff were wonderful, from the pick up right through to after our flight. Barrett, our pilot, certainly knew his stuff. The facilities were exceptional. I would recommend this company to everyone. Thanks to all.

We hadn't even considered doing this based on the price. After realizing we wouldn't have enough time to visit the NaPali coast, we decided maybe this was the best way to see it. We bit the bullet and paid full price, and believe it was worth every single penny. I had never been in a helicopter and was a bit nervous, but once we were buckled in and up in the air, the nerves were overcome with awe. Brad, our pilot, was knowledgeable, interesting, and funny, and had just the right amount of conversation mixed with quiet in order for us to enjoy the ride. Knowing very little about the island, this was the perfect way to learn about it and understand the overall landscape and terrain. I would recommend doing this at the beginning of your trip so that you have an aerial understanding of the topography and "map" of Kauai. This is definitely one of the most amazing experiences of my life and I wouldn't think twice about spending the money. DO IT. You won't be disappointed. Also, we paid for the personalized DVD which we have already watched - we've been home for 6 hours. :)

We have previously been on other helicopter tours with other companies and I can say by far that this helicopter adventure is absolutely top drawer. The staff on ground was friendly and professional. Craig, our pilot was wonderful, informative and just plain outstanding! We thoroughly enjoyed this trip far above our other helicopter tours and highly recommend Blue Hawaiian.

My daughter and I booked the 2 hour tour out of Waikoloa. It was amazing. Our pilot, Jason, provided a lot of interesting information about the island along with some fairly cheesy jokes, but it all made for a really enjoyable trip. We were able to see new lava flows up close as well as lava within the crater of a volcano. There was a bit of twisting and curving in the passes over the lava to give us an up close view, so next time I might pop a Gravol for motion sickness before going. The second half of the tour focused on the valleys and waterfalls which were spectacular. I'd highly recommend taking a tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters

This is a great trip with a very professional operation. Here's the tip. If you book 5 days in advance you will get a discount. My saving was in excess of $50. You don't pay upfront and can cancel at 24 hours notice so it seems to me to be a no- brainer. If you are staying in Waikola I suggest you go to the heliport to book. It is only 5 minutes down the road and gets you to meet the staff and that may be important. The trip is as all others have described so I won't repeat them. If you want to get the best view ask to sit in the front row. Spot 1 will get you next to the pilot. If you have been into the heliport book be friendly ask for the 5 day discount and remember their name. Hopefully when you come to the trip they will be on and you've made a connection. These kids do everything apart from fly the helicopter! They will tell you that it is down to weight distribution and no doubt it is. BUT if you are of average weight than I just think this can't do you any harm. Spot 1 meant I had a great relationship with the pilot (Steve) who was very insightful, amusing and highly skilled. Yes it is not cheap but how often do you get the chance like this?
