I was so excited to go in a helicopter that Ibwasn't even thinking about what I was going to see. Our former Afghanastan air force pilot took us on the most incredible tour of our lives. I was fortunate to get the front seat and had windows atvmy feet and a panaromic front view. Chris was a great guide and showed us everything. The gorgeous coastline, the Jurassic Park waterfalls, valleys, rainforests, everything you could want to see and more. If you are prone to motion sickness, tey taking Bonine at least one hour prior to flight. Unfortunately a gentleman in the back seat got very sick. I'd taken the Bonine and felt great.mi really could have stayed up there for hours. Try it!!
Beautiful views...stunning experiences. The pilot was also amazing in his comments and information. The crater and waterfall view will stay with me all my life. So comfortable--like sitting in my recliner.
Judy here, Larry's wife. We went to Kauai for a softball tournament and I was getting bored after watching game after game. Larry said, "Why don't you pick something to do that would be fun and memorable." We had flown on Blue Hawaiian Helicopters on Maui a few years ago and knew they were a first rate outfit so since I had some time for myself and did want to do something memorable, I knew where to go. Blue Hawaiian Kauai didn't disappoint! Loved being able to see the Na Pali coast and Waimea Canyon. Spectacular! The pilot was knowledgeable, made us all feel safe and the ground staff were professional a full of aloha. Hey, there are other helicopter companies but for me, Blue Hawaiian gets it done.
Just remarkable experience we had,Barrett our copter pilot was very knowledgeable and also a good at his job... We were vey happy ?
If you want to see an active volcano from the best vantage point this is for you! We did the tour out of Hilo. Jeremy was our pilot and he was great! He was so friendly and knowledgeable. We did a bunch of passes around the volcano from both sides so that everyone could see. There were multiple places you could see active lava flowing. Then we followed the lava out to the ocean. We did several passes again on both sides to watch the lava flow into the ocean. Absolutely incredible views. I've seen a couple of volcanos in other countries but have never gotten such a great view or been able to see lava flowing. After that we saw a giant group of waterfalls. It was very beautiful from the sky. Then headed back to the airport. It was so much fun. I highly recommend helicopter tour.
Top flight . Great pilots . Excellent ground staff, Once again this flight with this company exceeded my expectations. only way to fully appreciate this Island of Kauai.
Beautiful helicopters and experienced pilots await you to provide an experience like no other. This company has the best safety record and the only FAA awards of excellence for their mechanics. The flight is smooth and allows you to see things only visible from the air. Do not miss this opportunity.
This was without a doubt the highlight of our week in Kauai!!! There are really only two ways to truly appreciate the beauty and splendor of the Na Pali coast - one is by boat and the other is by air. The helicopters are smooth and give you views of the canyons and waterfalls which you can only see from the air. Our pilot Greg gave us a great ride while giving us a constant narrative about what we were seeing and also the culture and history of the early Kauai inhabitants. If you only do one thing in Kauai - do this!
I have been on several arial adventures in the US and Europe. This was by far the ONLY way to see the big island. We hovered over lava flows, came up close to waterfalls at 1,500 feet and followed mountain terrain to the ocean to name a few things. Most importantly, our pilot//guide Toshi is so passionate about sharing the beauty of the island with all on board. He is truly an ambassador of the island.
My husband and I took a flight with Scott on Wednesday. He was a wonderful tour guide (giving just the right amount of explanation) and we had a fabulous time. We felt safe and saw some truly incredible views. Our only complaint is that our helicopter malfunctioned somehow as we were coming into the airport. Our pilot kept a cool head, but we had to land at a maintenance station. A shuttle drove us back to the main waiting room. The staff was not accommodating or apologetic about the situation & there was no explanation from them about what had happened. Further - when my husband and I asked about purchasing the video from our flight, we were told we had to wait for Blue Hawaiian staff to retrieve the recording from the maintenance dock. We waited for 20 minutes. When we followed up about the status of the video we were told that as a result of the emergency landing somehow the video had been deleted, which we were really disappointed about (and frustrated that we had been left waiting for no reason). This left a sour taste in our mouth given what was otherwise a great trip.
We did not book in advance as we did not want to risk loosing our money if the weather was unsuitable. We arrived on the Pride of America cruise ship and found some elderly volunteer ladies at the exit of the wharf, one of whom offered to use her own phone and rang various company's and got us the last two seats of the day with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. The price was around $100 cheaper per person than if booked on the cruise ship. The way they allocate seats ( computerised) is very fair and worked well. The company is very safety conscious, was on time, and staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an amazing flight, very smooth, and we were able to see the lava in the volcano and then followed the lava flow right to the sea. The pilot gave an informative commentary, one fact being it is the wettest place in America so we were doubly thankful we had not booked in advance, we were very fortunate to get seats on such a perfect flying day. We were thrilled to see such a rare sight.
This was a very early start as it was recommended to do the flight early before the winds pick up and the weather blows in. We were the first helicopter away at 7.10am, we flew between the two big volcanos over to the erupting one. We got a great look down into the crater and could see the glowing lava. We then flew down to the sea were the lava is currently flowing and could see ribbons of glowing lava splashing into the ocean. Then up to Hilo and onto the valleys where pictures and videos just do not do it justice, it is truly spectacular. We purchased the video of our trip as the helicopter has six external and internal cameras to capture the two hour trip. The pilot, Carl provided good commentary throughout.
Ok so firstly Im a Aussie and the US dollar sux for us at the moment however I seriously encourage you to save your cashola and splerge on this once in a lifetime experience! We had previously done a Grand Canyon heli tour when in Vegas but I think this one takes the cake! Our Pilot, I think Eli was his name, was amazing, great fun and had heaps of info on the island, volcanos and pretty much anything big island related! All of the staff were very helpful and safety was paramount. We had a car so was very easy to drive there and find, just off main freeway. The Big island spectacular really lived up to its name! We experianced the past lava flows from the sky, did circles around the active volcano and had full view of all the lava and molten pools and one of the highlights for me was going into the deep valleys and seeing some of the worlds tallest waterfalls. It was seriously like I was actually in Jurassic park and hey I may have even got a bit emotional! We were even flighting along the coast line in the rain which was a adventure in itself! Definatly pack your cameras and gopros, phone cameras dont do it justice (I had all 3) and be sure to go to the bathroom before hand. Thanks again Blue Hawaiian, definitely highlight of our trip so far! Hot tip - if you book and stay at a Wyndam property you can attend a timeshare presentation to get discounts off dining and experiances. We stayed at Kona Coast Resort and ended up saving $100 on this heli tour. You just have to listen to a 90 min presentation. Of course being Aussie and our dollar not great we could not afford to purchace any timeshare but you just listen to get discounts. Not sure if same deal offered everywhere but thought would include :-)
Not much more can be said that hasn't been said already. Wonderful and safe operation. Our pilot, Eli, was fantastic and interacted with my 8 and 5 year olds throughout the flight. We saw all of the major sights. Truly worthwhile. My only disappointment was after the trip... We purchased the video of our trip on a USB and half of the files were corrupted. One tip- I booked the A-Star and we were upgraded to an Eco-Star. I didn't even see an A-Star at Waikoloa or Hilo- and we passed their heliports 3-4 times during our trip.
Tour takes you all over the island with the package we got. Had a group of about 7 people and everyone loves it. Definitely a great way to see the island considering a lot you can't get to by car.
