This was our first trip to Hawaii and our first time in a helicopter. It was worth every penny! Our pilot, Julie, was great! She was friendly and informative. It was a very smooth ride and we were treated to beautiful views of the island.
Our first time in a helicopter was outstanding. The ride was a gift to my step son and it was a clear winner. We flew in a Eco Star helicopter and our pilot (Adam) was amazing. The flight was a lot smoother than I expected. We cruised over Waikiki beach and thought this can't get much better. Adam surprised us by spotting some sea turtles and a hammerhead shark. We then went in land and the chopper flew into an amazing valley which ended with a massive waterfall. We were told that the area is closed to walkers, so the only way to see this natural wonder was by air. We went across the island to see some amazing beaches and landscape. Finally an amazing view of Pearl Harbor and we flew in for landing. Got the in flight DVD to make sure we can re-live the experience again. Thank you for an amazing flight. P.S. We took another flight on the Big Island with your company. That will be in another review.
This was a thrilling way to explore the whole island. Incredible views, interesting pilot, very professional company. We purchased the DVD after the flight, great memento. Expensive excursion but we loved it!
My husband and I did a helicopter tour of Kauai on our last day there for our honeymoon. I was terrified (I hate heights and flying) but decided to humor my husband! It was totally worth it! Marty (our pilot) caught on that I was nervous and made it very enjoyable for me. It was such an amazing experience and the views you see are unforgettable! As you fly they record your trip and you have the option to purchase it at the end, we did. It is a nice keepsake from our trip and can visit Kauai right from our living room when we miss it!
We went up in the ecostar helicopter and it was awesome. Our pilot was Justin and he was so much fun as we did the 55 minute tour of the entire island of Maui. I cant wait to go again.
This was worth the money. The staff were nice, the pilot (Mark) was interesting, shared good facts, but didn't talk so much that we couldn't also enjoy the view. He checked in with us to make sure we were doing okay with any of the little bumps, and just gave us a fantastic tour. It's my only helicopter experience but I would recommend this company to everyone I know who is heading to Kauai.
i went up in an EcoStar helicopter and it was an amazing experience! It was the highlight of my week. The pre-flight orientation was very well done and the company runs a very efficient operation. We all took our designated seats on the copter and took off!!! The music was obviously orchestrated for the tour because the music enhanced what we were being shown. I recommend this company.
My husband and I visited the Big Island as part of our honeymoon trip. We were both excited to see the volcano and other parts of the island beyond Kona where we were staying, but hesitant to make the long drive. In order to see the island, but not take up days of our trip, we decided to do the Big Island Spectacular helicopter tour. The staff at Blue Hawaiian were very helpful, and our pilot, Greg, was great. We were able to see lava, the summit of Kilauea, some forest fires (as a result of hot lava), as well as the breathtaking North Shore and other areas of the island. Definitely a trip to remember! My only advice is that if you are any bit prone to motion sickness..take Dramamine before you go. The turns in the helicopter are fun and help you to see great views, but they can lead to some motion sickness if you do not prepare properly ahead of time.
LOVED this Helicopter flight/tour highly recommend, great view of the island and pilot very knowledgeable
Made the drive to Hilo from Waikaloa to do the lava and waterfall tour. I have to say, I think if you go into it knowing what to expect, than it's not a bad experience. The flight was fine. We saw a few waterfalls from afar. We went to a crater, and we were lucky enough to see into an opening that had formed a month ago. Up until then, you only see big smoke. There is no real visible lava flowing. We saw what was technically a lava flow, which was about 10 feet long, if that. I kind of knew this going in so I was doing it mainly for the helicopter ride itself, because even though I'd flown before, my boys hadn't. The boys weren't overly impressed, plus one got a little queasy despite taking some meds. It's an expensive tour, so as long as you know what your getting, than it's fine spending it. Blue Hawaiian is a reputable company and I think all the tours do basically the same thing.
Great organization from bottom to top. Phone reps very helpful (important to us older customers) and pilot was very professional and really seem to enjoy the flight, even though he must do 10 per week. Take camera for some great shots and take newer helicopters I took 2 hr flight and we saw whole island inc. volcanoes and Waipoia valleys. A little expensive but worth it if u don't think you will be back.
My wife and I took the tour today 8/7/2013. It was a very awesome experience. My wife was thrilled. This Hawaii visit is our post honeymoon. Blue Hawaiian helicopter made it a memorable on. Adam our pilot was knowledgable and amazing. This tour is a must do in Hawaii. Hawaii is breathing taking and in order two get a full glimpse of it, the helicopter is a good means to experience it. If you really want to see all of Oahu, then take a Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour. You will see everything on the island and experience many beautiful shots. The tour seems to last only ten minutes, but you can really see so much. We saw sharks, stingrays and sea turtles out over one of the reefs, but Chinaman's hat and I have a greater appreciation for the island and it's beauty after my flight! The company is very professional and the helicopter is nice and fairly smooth. I was expecting more jitters and jolts, but it was smooth. A must do.
I have never been on a helicopter before so this was amazing to me! The pilot was knowledgeable and very funny. The sights from above the island were completely worth the price!
If you plan on going to Kauai, you MUST automatically include this in you cost. There is nothing like experiencing it on heli. We did a plane ride on the Big Island and I didn't feel like I was missing out. A plane ride of Kauai would not do it justice. The heli takes you in these INSANE canyons and cracks in the mountains. It was a real life IMAX. Unforgettable. Again, IF YOU DONT DO A HELI RIDE, DON'T GO TO KAUAI. It's a waste of a plane ticket. TIP: buy vouchers from Costco. We paid $400 for $500 in certificates. this is almost enough ($5 short) for 2 riders and the in-flight video which was just ok. They should upgrade the camera to capture the colors better. I'm not sure what it's like with other companies, but do not plan on sitting in the front if you are a fatty like me. I weigh in at 250 lbs and it seems that myself and other big guys (or gals) don't ride in the front. the best you could hope for is middle back on the right side. This doesn't really affect your viewing but if definitely affects your pictures (which are already weak bec of the glass windows as opposed to open doors heli) overall I was impressed by the operation they had there. nice staff, marty the pilot was very nice by trying to make sure we all get a good view and we just felt safe. but I called ahead to request the front, booked it very far in advance, asked(very nicely) when we checked in for a front seat and we didn't get it. they say the computer does calculates it but I don't buy that they cant do it if they want to.
