Where do I begin? Well I was somewhat afraid because this was my first helicopter ride but I only had beautiful images on my mind & our pilot made it all possible. I took so many pictures, well over 75-100 & it was well worth the trip. He was extremely informative while showing us the waterfalls, coastline view, active volcanoes, & historic background. I would definitely take this trip many more times & I don't think one could ever experience boredom along this ride. I'm truly grateful for the entire experience & my pictures are so breathtaking..... I loved everything about this experience.
It's just one of those things that must be done at some point while you're in Hawaii. We asked around a lot before we booked, and the general consensus was that Blue Hawaiian was the best company to book with. I believe it was a little more expensive, but I was told it would be worth it. Of course, I can't make any direct comparisons because our only experience was with Blue Hawaiian, but we had a great time. Our pilot, with his goofy sense of humor, was a fun and friendly personality. He kept everyone involved but politely shifted any focus away from my wife when he sensed things getting a little... um, intense for her. (Note: helicopter is outfitted with sick bags, if necessary, but she forgot to take meds for the ride which probably would have helped) The views are incredible, and I always love a good historical/geological lesson so that was nice to be able to hear while we were looking out the windows. The real treat came when we soared into the deep green valleys near Hilo, surrounded on all sides by green walls littered with huge waterfalls. Absolutely incredible.
Amazing and well worth the money. Didn't get to fly over the volcano due to the weather but the rest of the Big Island was gorgeous!! Great service and pilot!!
Two hour tour of the Big Island was a splurge and worth every penny! Our pilot Ian was the best. We flew over the active volcano, Kilahua. Ian flew us directly over the crater so we could see the lava cracking through the mantle. We also flew over the lava fielsd and saw lava flows incinerating the neighboring forest. The highlight was our breathtaking flight in the Waimanu Valley, with its sheer cliffs, dozens of waterfalls, and verdant plant life.
During our week on the Big Island, the husband and I spent a good deal of time just lying on the beach and taking hikes and walks. And eating. And drinking. And....having relations. I was hesitant to take a helicopter tour because it seemed sooooo very touristy to me and we really try to avoid being the stereotype. All that considered, IT WAS AWESOME! I am so glad we did it, I can't imagine the trip without it. The views from the air are just stunning and being a western desert/mountain girl my whole life it really put the island experience in a new perspective for me. And as interesting as a National Geographic special on volcanoes may be, nothing compares to seeing them from the air. Wow. Great staff, great facility, never once questioned how safe I was, just a wonderful time.
These guys were great. Took my wife and daughter on the second to last day of our stay at the Aluni. Adam our pilot was extremely knowledgable about the island and was able to answer any of the questioned asked. Plus for only $15 you get a HD video of the whole flight, with both internal and external footage.
Organized and professional. We took a tour and booked one for our friends as well. The gentlemen at the front was helpful and nice. I am glad we choose this tour.
Darl was fantastic! The views were spectacular! Definitely a must do when coming to Oahu.
Had an absolutely incredible experience from the time Vincent (love him) picked us up, through the check in at the front desk and flight with Lauren....He showed us so much and the ride was so smooth.... The views of Oahu were breath taking, scenes you can't imagine and have to experience from Blue Hawaiian Helicopters! Excellent. .well worth it!
I did the Big Island spectacular tour at 7am in the newer of their helicopters. It was worth it. The scenery is breathtaking. Smoking lava, magnificent coastline, whales, waterfalls and jaw dropping valleys. It certainly seems like the best way to truly appreciate the island. Marco was our pilot and he was excellent. His ability to maneuver the helicopter was remarkable and he was knowledge, friendly & funny.
We took the Kohala Coast tour on the eco-star helicopter (spacious with a/c) and our pilot was Jason. It was a nice ride that lasted almost an hour which is just enough and Jason was knowledgeable of the area. I'm from the island of Oahu and was with my nephew who is from Kealakekua (located on the island of Hawaii). Being born and raised in Hawaii doesn't always mean that you are able to enjoy everything it has to offer. On this tour, we were able to see and appreciate a part of the island that we've always known about but never did get to enjoy because of accessibility. I would highly recommend Blue Hawaiian on your next trip to Hawaii.
The highlight of our Christmas trip and worth every penny. We did the 2 hour spectacular.
My husband loves geology and was pretty excited about taking the 2-hour Big Island Spectacular tour in the Eco Star with Blue Hawaiian Helicopter. He was not disappointed. Neither was I, but I didn't have big expectations like he did! It was an expense, nevertheless we are glad we splurged. It's something we will remember forever (and we have the DVD in case we do forget!). Another nice bonus was Blue Hawaiian picked us up from our hotel (the Hilton) in their shuttle so we didn't even have to drive to their location!
Not to be missed! Ask for Pilot Scott!! AWESOME!!!
Spectacular! Smooth ride. Did not feel nervous at all. Took a flight of the northern falls of Hilo. Just beautiful. Worth every penny. Shane our pilot was just great.
