Big Island Spectacular was just that...spectacular
ビッグアイランド - ワイコロア

We went for the gusto on this helicopter ride, opting for the longer Big Island Spectacular, in the more expensive helicopter (EcoStar), and it proved to be a great choice. Unfortunately the stars didn't line up correctly, so my wife and I were in two of the back seats rather than the primo front seats next to the pilot, but that is what the weight-balancing computer edicted. The good new is that the EcoStar has REALLY big windows, so even sitting in one of the middle seats (my wife was by the window) I was able to see a lot and get some good pictures. Our pilot, Tom, did a great job of making sure both sides of helicopter got a chance to see all the great sites, and responding to specific request for views, photos, etc. He also was very knowledgeable about the Big Island, and his low-key not overly chatty style was perfect for the tour. We toured the volcano part of the island first, which was what I thought was going to be the highlight, and it was very interesting, especially the site of molten lava oozing up and the steam rising from where the lava enters the sea. The surprise for me was that the tour of the rainforest waterfalls and narrow valleys in the northern part of the island was actually even more a highlight than the volcano. The valleys were really beautiful, and the waterfalls were amazing. It also becomes pretty obvious that about the only way to experience this part of the island is via helicopter. The views were incredible, and I can't imagine how else they could be achieved other than from the window of the helo. We were also fortunate that all 6 passengers were OK with bypassing the "break" in Hilo, opting for additional flight time, which gave us a chance for more rainforest sights. Bottom line: If taking a helo trip in the Big Island is part of your plan, I would definitely opt for the Big Island Spectacular with the EcoStar. Blue Hawaiian earned their high ratings.

Volcano and waterfall tour
ビッグアイランド - ワイコロア

Although pricey, this tour was amazing! We got up close and personal with lava, saw fabulous views of the coast and towering waterfalls. Our pilot made certain that everyone in our Eco-star had a chance to see everything. Great experience.

Speechless
ビッグアイランド - ワイコロア

From check-in to pre-flight instruction to take-off/landing and all points in between, just an absolutely fantastic, once in a lifetime experience. Our pilot - Jason - was first class. His knowledge of the Big Island was only overshadowed by his flying skills. The scenery left me speechless. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience
ビッグアイランド - ヒロ

My wife and I found the whole experience first class. Age is nor barrier for taking this trip. Our pilot, Scott, was superb, a fountain of knowledge and entertaining too. We were lucky to see a crater of boiling lava and have some great photo's to relive the experience. We can highly recommend the video of the individual flight, which is a complete record of the experience. This was the highlight of a superb holiday, cruising to and from San Diego.

Into the blue...
ビッグアイランド - ヒロ

I was able to experience Blue Hawaii with my sister and niece in January, and it was amazing! Our AM flight was canceled after about 2 minutes in the air, due to low visability, so we returned to the desk, they were willing to refund or reschedule. We rescheduled for the afternoon and got to see a brand new lava break-out that was only 2 hours old! The pilot zig-zagged over the flow multiple times so all 5 of us got perfect views. He was talkative, informative and made everyone feel welcome. I would recommend Blue Hawaiian to everyone. Excellent experience.

An experience to remember !!
ビッグアイランド - ヒロ

Took the Cricle of Fire tour and this company is definitey well run and I had no fear. Our pilot Scott was absolutely wonderful and was very entertaining. He was a wealth of knowledge and we had a great time. We bought the video and it was fantastic and definitely worth the money. I would take Blue Hawaiian again and be very confident in having a great safe experience. Their new helicopter had a great view from every seat. It was great to see the volcano flow up close and also a waterfall. Mahalo to Scott andt he great ground crew at Hilo.

Fantastic Staff, Amazing Views!
ビッグアイランド - ヒロ

We took the Circle of Fire tour in the newer Eco-Star helicopter. I sat in the middle and the view was brilliant. Scott our pilot was extremely welcoming, informative, personably, professional and engaging. Within a minute he knew the names of all 7 people on board and continued to engage us in the experience. Even though it was my first experience in a helicopter and am prone to air sickness, I did not fell ill once and didn't even think of any concerns. We had ample time to fly around each of the main sites which included the lava discharging into the ocean, the spatter cones, lava fields and some waterfalls near Hilo. Scott also approached each feature from both sides so everyone had a chance to take some photos. We also got really close to the spatter cones so we could get some amazing photos of the lava. Overall, from the ground crew (Darian and Tiffany were great), to Scott our pilot, not to mention some of the most unique sights we will ever see, this was a brilliant experience which was definitely the highlight of our Hawaiian visit.

Great Time
ビッグアイランド - ヒロ

The ring of fire tour was booked for us as a gift during our trip, and it was great. Our pilot, Jeremy was outstanding. He didn't have to think about the answer for any question we asked. We would do it again (maybe even the longer tour), and we bought the video that they have for sale afterwards. Not sure if I would have gotten it if I had paid for the trip myself but it is a nice souvenir to have. They are a top notch place, and never once was safety a concern. My wife doesn't like to fly and she enjoyed the whole flight too. We got some decent pictures on the flight that we wouldn't have been able to get otherwise. Great time. Recomended.

First Timer
ビッグアイランド - ヒロ

Never been in a helicopter before but we wanted to see the volcano from the air. Glad we did. Not only did we see the volcano but we also flew over the Pacific Grand Canyon. The pilot took us over the Napali Coast which can only be seen from air or boat. Absoulutely Pristine!!!!!!.

Scared to fly but not this trip and had an amazing time!
ビッグアイランド - ヒロ

I generally don't like flying, but I ended up having a great time on this trip. The staff definitely puts safety first, and they are very knowledgable. Tim was our pilot and operated the helicopter for a very smooth ride. Overall, I would definitely reccomend this trip because you can't see active lava from the volcanoes national park unless you hike for several hours and it is not bright daylight. We were able to see several spots of active lava, as well as other sights like beautiful waterfalls.

Once in a lifetime trip. 'Expensive' but more than worth it.
ビッグアイランド - ヒロ

Seeing a live volcano up close was on the bucket list. This filled that bill and more! The Blue Hawaii team at Hilo is well trained and very safety conscious. We were put over the live flow at the shoreline and at the summit. The pilot told us what to look for and where we might see it. They did video of the trip showing what we actually saw and some shots from inside the helicopter. It was the trip of a lifetime.

Great tours little hyped
ビッグアイランド - ヒロ

I think its wonderful we get to see the volcano from the top but remember the main volcano where you have heavy activity that you can see from Jaggar museum is no fly zone which we can to know after we took the tours. This was my first helicopter tour with my wife and 18 month old(he was free :D) . This is worth it as you can see the lava flow into the ocean and you can see serveral lava tubes. its roughly 200 per person so i had to pay around 400 for 2 and a kid(who was free). Its worth doing if you have never done a helicopter tour. The only disappointment was it dint take me close to the main volcano but they cant help as its a no fly zone.

Excellent time!
ビッグアイランド - ヒロ

If you have the money to spend $200+ an hour on something you will remember forever, this is how to spend it. My friend and I went on this little day trip together after hiking around the creator of a volcano and decided to take a heli around some active volcanos. It was a bit of a sad day for my friend as she got some upsetting news from home so this was a great way to make day more exciting. Both of us were children from the 80's and watched Magnum PI; we even decided to bring some mascara to draw on some Tom Sellack mustaches on each other before taking off to lighten the mood a little. To our surprise, the actual Magnum PI is apart of their fleet of helicopters! The ride was awesome, with a great tour guide/pilot who was super personable and knowlegdable. We didn't get to see too much lava but we did get to see some as well as a few waterfalls. It was an amazing trip and one I won't soon forget!

Birds Eye View of Kona...
ビッグアイランド - ワイコロア

You can't fully appreciate the Big Island until you see it from the air. Blue Hawaiian Helicopters offers a way to see scenery that you could never view from the ground. Flying over pristine waterfalls, beautiful canyon walls, lush green jungles, and ancient lava beds. It is a breath taking experience and definitely worth the money. The pilot and staff were very knowledgeable and fun to be with. Another great day in Paradise!!! Thanks Blue Hawaiian...

Expensive but glad I did it
ビッグアイランド - ワイコロア

Did the 2hr tour from Waikoloa. The weather was a little cloudy but we still got to see the lava flows and the waterfalls which were spectacular. What makes this trip worth it in my view is that most of these sights would be totally inaccessible other than by air so if you don't do it then you end up missing Hawaii's best attractions. Our pilot Shane was a great guide, very enthusiastic, and even made a special detour up above the clouds so we could see the summit of Mauna Kea.
