Had the pleasure of taking a Blue Hawaiian tour in 2007 and knew that when we returned to the Big Island with our 12 year old son, a tour would be at the top of our list. Did this excursion at the beginning of our stay on the Kona Coast. Shane was our pilot. He was an excellent tour guide and made it comfortable for all (including our sometimes shy 12 year old son) to ask as many questions as they wanted. Would definitely put this high on the list of excursions for those visiting the islands. Have never used another helicopter company in Hawaii, so do not have a point of comparison, but based on our two experiences with Blue Hawaiian, 14 years apart, would not hesitate to recommend them!

This tour is simply amazing! Our pilot, Matt, gave us a very smooth flight and told us much history and information about the sights we saw from above. We were treated to flyover of the US military base shortly after takeoff We were told it is a very rare occurrence to get clearance to fly through their airspace. We had been on a Big island driving tour the previous day so we had seen many of these spots from the ground, but the air perspective was totally different. The views inside of the craters at Volcanos National Park were incredible, as was the peek inside the huge steam vent. Then we flew over to the gorgeous Hamakua Coast and into the stunning valleys along that coast which you can’t see from the ground. The Waimanu Valley in particular was stunning with it’s series of 2,000+ feet tall waterfalls cascading over the cliffs. But the most magical moment of our tour was the landing at a remote waterfall right on the coast - a paradise all our own - for about 20 minutes anyway. Matt was very accommodating of a family photo shoot, and knew which angles to use to get the best shot of the helicopter, family and waterfall all in one image. As a note: I booked this tour when Kilauea was still erupting. When it stopped, I almost cancelled this tour. I'm so glad I didn't. It was incredible even without the eruption.

Such a fun adventure! We had a beautiful day too. We were able to see the lava fields, the volcanos, then head around the coast to see waterfalls and the coastline. We all had a wonderful time and would do it again.

My husband and I had an incredible experience doing the Big Island Spectacular Tour with the waterfall landing. Shane was a great host and pilot, and had plenty to tell us about everything that we were seeing. He also had excellent photography skills, great taste in music, and gave us a great recommendation for a breakfast restaurant afterwards as a bonus. Thanks so much, Blue Hawaiian for a great tour!!

We had an absolutely amazing experience on the 8am tour with pilot Kai on Sept 29th a mere few hours before Kilauea erupted that afternoon. Conditions were perfect and allowed us to enter some of the narrow valleys on the NE side of the island and see some spectacular waterfalls (not always possible if too windy). Capt Kai was the best, both in pilot skills as well as knowledge of the volcanos, geology, Hawaiian history and culture. Highly recommend this trip. It’s not cheap but the only true way to see the big island.

If you are visiting the Big Island for only a couple of days I definitely recommend this tour, that would your easiest and more espectacular way to see it all, rather than driving around that would take longer. Try to get Toshi as your pilot, he is not obit knowledgeable but also entertaining and makes you feel safe at all times! Totally worth the price!

Thank you Blue Hawaiian for a spectacular helicopter tour! We got to see lava in the crater and got some great pictures. We loved the water falls. We ewere able to fly into a valley of huge water falls - which was magical. We landed by a secluded huge water fall that you would never have access to outside of a trip like this. We had an amazing pilot Shane - he gave a great narrative of what we were seeing and was so helpful in answering all of our questions. Shane has many years of experience flying not only in Hawaii but also in places like Alaska glaciers & the Grand Canyon- so you also have extremely experienced pilots making you feel safe throughout the entire tour. If you are asking yourself is this worth the cost - in my opinion absolutely YES - it was an experience of a lifetime

My husband and I have been visiting the Hawaiian islands for over 17 years. By far today was one of the most magical experiences we have ever encountered while in Hawaii. Toshi was our amazing pilot on our 2 1/2 hour helicopter excursion over the Big Island of Hawaii including a private waterfall landing. Toshi’s knowledge, smooth flying skills, his ability to make every passenger feel included and welcomed made for a once in a lifetime experience that my husband and I will cherish for many years. This tour super exceeded our expectations and we were so happy we got to enjoy this beautiful experience. Thanks Toshi. I highly recommend this tour. My husband and I will be sending all of our friends and family lots of pictures from today’s tour accompanied with strong recommendations to book a tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters.

Many thanks to Shane for a wonderful helicopter tour. Shane was a great pilot and gave us so much information as we went around the island. Great views of the volcano and coastline and waterfalls. There were 6 of us and we could all see very well.

Celebrated our 19th Wedding Anniversary onboard Blue Hawaiian Helicopters with our awesome pilot Tamara. This was our first helicopter experience and Tamara made it safe, fun and educational for both my wife and I to enjoy! Thank you so much for the beautiful views of Oahu and the unforgettable memories! We definitely recommend this amazing excursion to anyone who would like to experience Hawaii in a unique setting! We booked the whole island tour and were glad we did! A brilliant view and a great pilot (Julie) who had an intimate knowledge of the island. The video recording was reasonably-priced, too - we bought it!

What an amazing experience. Surprised the wife with an hour flight around Oahu and it did not disappoint. Flew over Waikiki, Diamond Head, top of island, Waimea Bay, east shore and Pearl Harbour. Very safety conscious flight and more than helpful and informative pilot in Darren who had a great soundtrack to add to the experience. Pick up and return to hotel was faultless. Even though it appears expensive compared to other tours very good value for money. Memories of this flight will last a lifetime

Best way to see the entire island in an hour. Our tour guide was kind of boring but the amazing views made up for his lack of personality. Staff in the office is very nice and friendly.

Great way to see the island if you are short on time. The views are spectacular and the ride is very comfortable. The crew are very professional. And the pilot is extremely knowledgeable. I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

Blue Hawaiian was a great way to see the whole island from the air. The helicopter seated 7 people, three in the front, and four in the back. The computer seats you by weight (you get weighed when you check in) and my husband and I were lucky enough to be in the front two seats beside the pilot. I can't vouch for the experience that the people in the back seat had, but I know that they did not have as good of a view overall. Upon check in you watch a brief safety video and have a safety briefing. You are brought out onto the tarmac and they take a photo of you in front of the helicopter, which is available for purchase afterwards on a plaque. If you are concerned about motion sickness (as I was) I recommend taking dramamine or wearing seabands. I did and I was completely fine. The flight was very smooth, even though it was quite a windy day. The pilot (Kristy) was a great tour guide and the views are spectacular. I would try a tour of Maui or Kauai before doing Oahu again, however. Oahu is quite populated and I have heard that the views on the other islands are even better. It was a neat experience to fly over our resort and view it from the air. The Dole pineapple fields, the big waves on the north shore and the hills and valleys on the island were great to see from the air.
