We took this trip on our recent visit and it truly lived up to its name! The company and their personnel were very professional, excellent in-brief and processes to make you comfortable before and during the trip. The pilot (Carl) was very knowledgeable and engaging. While we enjoyed seeing Kilauea, the waterfalls were by far our favorite part. There is no other way to see so much in so little time (2 hour tour), especially given the volcano area is closed and I'm not sure you can even hike to see the waterfalls we got to see up close! It was very worth every penny! Thanks so much for the BEST part of our vacation!

Our pilot was Patrick. He was friendly, informative, humorous, and conscientious of anyone's POSSIBLE discomfort. The tour was beyond our expectations! I, without reservation, recommend Blue Hawaiian! Would definitely fly again with them.

Claustrophobic? Afraid of heights? Leery of helicopters? Do NOT let any or all (me) of these fears deter you from having this unique adventure!! It is wonderful and actually relaxing! The number one reason I was not as anxious as I expected is our pilot, Patrick. He exudes competence. I felt completely safe at all times. He never did unexpected maneuvers. He had a great soundtrack of fun yet soothing music (I read that some tours blast Elvis non-stop-no thanks). Throughout the tour Patrick informed us of the history of the island and the lava flows. Finally, you will be awe-struck by the beauty of this island. You will see volcanoes and waterfalls that are impossible to see any other way. GO FOR IT!!

I really wanted to get some video footage and some photos from the air, so I booked Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and the Big Island Spectacular tour. I took the whole family, and it wasn't cheap. It ends up being over $2000 Canadian for 3 people. The ride itself was not bad, but as we were boarding, I was assigned a rear seat in the middle of the helicopter. I asked if my partner and I could switch seats (they were seated in the front side) and we were flatly told "NO". Funny thing is, we are almost the same weight, so I couldn't understand why. This really sucked, as my partner doesn't want or know how to use the camera, so I had to try and shoot from the back middle of the craft. Well, I basically got 3 shots out of the whole trip, so really that was $2000 wasted! The pilot also didn't offer side views (the only window I could shoot through), always pointing the helicopter toward the point of interest or 3/4 towards it. I wasn't going to write a review, as the flight itself was great, and pilot was nice, but the more I think about it later, the more it upsets me that I wasted so much money and there was absolutely no help from the staff to help accommodate our seat assignment request.

The experience with Blue Hawaiian was friendly, efficient, and professional from booking to the end of the trip. Our pilot was Karl and he was awesome! We did the Big Island Spectacular tour and Karl did a fantastic job pointing out interesting facts around the island. The weather was clear and sunny which also added to the experience. Highly recommend.

We chose Blue Hawaii Helicopters for our Island Tour on September 20th. Our tour included hotel pickup and we left there location after easy check in at 9:20 am with pilot Patrick. He was friendly and knowledgeable and a perfect pilot for this adventure. He provided excellent details of our flight and the sights we were seeing. We flew across from Kona to the East side and down the Hilo coast. Then down to the recent fissure 8 area that devastated this part of the island. There were a lot of low clouds which made it difficult to see much. Although spotty we were able to see fissure 8 and steam and much of the recent summers lava event. He chose not to take us to the Kīlauea area which was a disappointment. We flew back to Hilo for fuel, loss of air time, then up the coast to the Waipio Valley & Hamakua Coast. Spectacular scenery and waterfalls. Our tour included the waterfall landing at a private waterfall and was a wonderful experience before flying back across to the Kona coast at 12:00. We have done their tour of both The Big Island and Kauai. Amazing experience in both cases. Specular views and the pilots are very informative and personable.

My first time in a helicopter and this tour was the absolute right choice. The staff and our pilot Scan were amazing. The views of the big island that we saw took my breath away. What a perfect experience that I will remember for a long, long time and because of this I am now going on another Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour in a few days on Kauai. I can't wait!

First of all I want to say that this is a well run organization with a friendly professional staff and top notched equipment. We never felt nervous and we had good vision from the back seats. The views of the coast were spectacular with many waterfalls, but the headliner was the volcano and it was very disappointing. Some steam and very little else due to the end of the lava flow made this a boring flight. This was no comparison to our flight on the Napali Coast. There is a lot better things you can do on this island for $1100!

The staff and equipment were great. The issue is that the helicopters are limited where they can now fly. We only skirted the edge of the National Park and viewed waterfalls from a long distance. Our pilot was awesome and provided insightful information about the harm from lava as well as tourists. The views of the ocean were beautiful and the recent lava flows interesting. This is an expensive excursion and not worth the time/money.

This would have to be the best helicopter trip I’ve ever done. Our pilot Karl was calm and competent and he was really knowledgeable about the Big Island - you could tell he loved his job. He made sure that we all got the photos or videos at each location we wanted by flying us slowly over the vantage points. There is nothing I could fault.

Booked the Big Island Tour with the Waterfall landing and purchased the two front seats. Three travelers, total cost was $2200. The experience was amazing! Our pilot Devon was fantastic. The cost is one of the reasons for the 3 stars. Was told the helicopter would record the entire thing and I could purchase at the end. At the end, we found out the cameras on the outside were all messed up and the lady was sorry, but ultimately didn’t really care. I wonder how many times that helicopter went up before it was fixed?? Disappointing especially to have spent that much money. I would have recorded more and taken more pics. Front seat purchase def worth the extra $100 per ticket though.

Had a fantastic trip on the big island over the volcanos and craters was worth the money and to see the landscape from all the lava flows very interesting thoroughly enjoyed it

We took the 09/18/19 helicopter flight with pilot GNO who was amazing. He showed us some wonderful falls he recently discovered along with spectacular coast and mountain scenes including the recent crater from 2018 eruption. Beautiful scenery and excellent information with a very smooth and truly safe ride. We took the long tour and it was worth every single penny spent!! Thank you for a wonderful experience in Kona.

Wife and I have been to Big Island several times touring the island - this was our first helicopter flight. I have always liked seeing this volcanic island from the car - but seeing the sights from the air was awesome. Although we didn’t see red lava, seeing the deep vents were great. Josh was a great pilot showing and telling us about the sights during the 2 hour flight. Recommend.
