Definitely the best way to view Hawai'i! The whole experience was great!! If you can pick your pilot, pick Jim!! He is AMAZING!! He made us laugh the whole time, explained some of the areas with a little background and you can tell he loves his job!! And don't forget to get the video at the end!!

Flew over Oahu for 45 min at a great price. Fantastic and informative. Felt safe. Interesting to see how big Oahu is from the air. Pearl Harbour and Diamond Head were great. Pilot made sure that the 4 of us in the back could see everything👍👍

We were given 2 seats as a gift and shelled out for the other 2 seats so that it could be a family activity. It was pricey, but well worth the expense! Pilot Jim was very engaging and shared TONS of interesting facts about the island. We thoroughly enjoyed our "bird's eye" view!

Loved this experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride expertly piloted and narrated by Wally. Definitely the highlight of our trip!

Jim was an amazing pilot who did a great job giving us an up close and real adventure without making us sick. I was a little worried about getting nauseous, but Jim was careful to prevent sudden moves which might make us ill, better than some elevator rides that make me motion sick. Doors off is the only way to go, great weather, great views, no glare for photos. I took my 18 yr. old son and we had a great time. This was the highlight of our trip. I would do it again. Jim was a great pilot/guide and had us laughing most of our 50 minute trip. I will definitely do this again. My first helicopter experience.

We took the 45 minute flight option and it was a fabulous way to see Oahu. The ride was super fun, and we got a really good sense of the island and all the things we could see and do on land. Only slight downside was the pilot making a few stupid sexist remarks (flight was all women and some of his comments were totally inappropriate - like telling us about the subs in Pearl Harbour and then saying "oh but that's guy stuff, you ladies wouldn't understand" - unnecessary). Other than that, he told a good story during the flight.

I was so afraid as I have a fear of heights. But my husband wanted to do the 60 minute circle island tour from Ko Olina. We decided to book the entire helicopter because I was concerned about one of us getting an inside seat and I was also concerned that if I started feeling sick or panicked, I did not want others to have to suffer through it. But within 10 seconds or so, I know it was fine.. I think the winds were down that day and I did not feel anything but a smooth ride. I was amazed at how safe I felt inside the helicopter. It was wonderful. The pilot was great and very knowledgeable of the island. It was very nice to get a view of the entire island before we ventured out in a car. I am really happy we did this tour and would recommend it to anyone. My kids (11 and 12) really enjoyed it too and they sat in the front seats. It was a great experience!

We decided to splurge and take the doors-off tour. What a great decision! It was definitely the highlight of our trip to Oahu. Seeing things like Pearl Harbor and Diamond Head from the air is unbeatable. Our pilot Margot was off-the-charts good. She flew that helicopter like she was born doing it. She was also very informative. My two sons aged 20 and 22 were both thrilled with the flight. We got to see things we could have never seen if we didn't take this tour. Thanks for the great flight!

We raced to get there and barely made it on time but the staff was gracious enough to accommodate my wife and daughter. I didn't go as I don't like heights. They had a great time and saw a lot of the island. It was an experience they will never forget

We took the 30 minute tour with Jim, who although he said he was the janitor was very obviously a pilot of some regard. We were picked up by Pete who was filling in as a driver and was very informative about what we can expect on the tour as well as pointing out places of interest (including his dentist) on the way to the airport. The tour itself was a spectacular way to see Oahu and Jim the Janitor filled the time with very interesting commentary about the sights. Overall I would recommend to anyone looking for a different way of seeing the island, as the views can not be beaten and the crew at Makani Kai make it an awesome experience for young or old.

Went on a flight this morning with makani kai helicopters. Awsome! The weather was great and the scenery is spectacular. (It is Hawaii after all). The pilot gives you a running commentary via your headset which is really informative. The staff are also very professional and the service A+. Highly recommend them.

We wanted to see Hawaii from the air, be safe, be awed and have an amazing first helicopter experience...all things accomplished by traveling with Makani Kair Helicopters and Pilot Jim. He made us comfortable and welcome from the moment we boarded and kept us focused on all the trip had to offer for the full 60 minutes of the flight. Jim was extremely knowledgeable of not only the chopper but of every area we flew over, giving us so much information to take back to friends and family. The DVD we received in the mail about a week after we flew is a wonderful, informative and valued souvenir of the experience of a lifetime. So glad we encouraged one another to do this before we can't. Nothing like it and no place better to first experience such an adventure than Hawaii...MAHALO!

Toured the entire island and beautiful waterfalls with Margot our pilot. Safe and secure - and on time too!

My wife and I took the no-door 45 min long tour. It was the first time on a helicopter for both of us. We took some time getting used to the open door and the rush of the air on our faces. Once we got comfortable, we enjoyed the rest of the tour thoroughly. Our pilot, Nathan, was friendly and funny. He informed us clearly about the flight and gave a great tour. My favorite moment was when the helicopter banked so much that I thought I was almost going to fall. On a relatively clear evening, we had a great sight seeing experience with some fantastic views. We also a chance encounter of blue whales spouting in the distance. I surely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Honolulu. Also, as another reviewer - papaspaldo mentions, off door is the way to go! Mahalo!
