Epic!! I felt like I was in Blue Thunder (you're welcome, people over 50). Our pilot Wesley was informative, personable, witty and, oh yeah - an ace chopper pilot (I can call them "choppers" now that I've been in one). We saw slivers of lava, loads of smoldering steam and even a rainbow. But even if we didn't see any of that, we rode a HELICOPTER over a VOLCANO in HAWAII. What more can you ask for, people? Even my 17-year-old quit playing Pokemon Go to take in the view. Thanks again, Wesley. I'll be your copilot any day. Especially if they remake Blue Thunder (again, you're welcome, people over 50).

Trip date: 7/12/22. Our pilot was Barrett, a native of Kauai who has worked as a pilot on Jurassic World and Jungle Cruise. Great sense of humor and very friendly. The ground crew was great too. We paid extra for the front seats with extra leg room for my 6’8” 16 year old but they probably would have been fine in the rear. Front seats are the only guaranteed seats for extra $100. The pilot chooses seating arrangements to balance aircraft in back row. We were worried about getting canceled as it was raining in Waipouli where we were staying but we needn’t have worried. Views of the island were spectacular and Barret did a great job narrating the tour. Warned us when things were gonna get a little choppy and made sure both sides of helicopter got views of all the sights. Used our names to help point out which side of aircraft was facing a particular feature. Got great views of Na’pali coast (one passenger asked if it was called that because it looked like Nepal - pilot didn’t snigger), Waimea Canyon, taro plantations, waterfalls throughout island, etc. This was a highlight of our trip.

My husband and I splurged on this one, and it was AMAZING. Nether of us had been on a helicopter before, so we were hesitant to do a doors-off tour. Blue Hawaiian passed my research for safety, and since they had done so much work in Hollywood (I'm in the business) I knew the studios would have done safety checks as well -- OK, I was a teeny bit paranoid. LOL I was also told they were the "cushiest" of the Kauai helicopter tours. Fine -- I like cushy! Our pilot Barrett completely put us at ease. He was funny, authentic, and very, very skilled. Blue Hawaiian had a very professional, classy presentation from start to finish. The cherry on the cake? MUSIC. I know, it sounds funny, but it really added to the fun to have thematic music (Top Gun as you took off, Jurassic Park as you hit the waterfall, etc) matched to the pilot's skillful narration. The front seats cost more, and on our flight that wouldn't have paid off -- it was raining so they really didn't get the good view as the rain pounded the front windshield at times. We were in the back and it was fine. I do suggest scheduling this tour at the beginning of your trip -- it is great for giving you an overview of the island (orientation). You also would have the opportunity to rebook it if weather conditions don't allow them to fly. FYI -- don't stress about taking photos and video. The helicopter has 4 cameras and they record your whole trip, with the ground crew editing it together before you leave. $80 for the video, but once you are paying this much for the experience, shouldn't you experience it? Can't wait to bring the family and do this one next time!

We did the Kohala valleys and waterfalls tour. We were on the fence about doing a helicopter tour due to the price and nerves! It was absolutely amazing. From the moment we met the pilot we felt safe and assured, they buckled us in, explained everything we could expect, and it was a smooth ride and wonderful experience. Our pilot had great facts and stories to share. It felt like we were in a video game. The beauty of the cliffs and water and waterfalls was hard to comprehend. just amazing. He shared perfectly - not too much that we were distracted from the beautiful scenery, not too little that we had no idea what we were looking at. They even have a background track of instrumental music that you listen to on the ride which enhanced the experience and the views. We loved it and would recommend to everyone on the fence!

Our family of five took the Big Island Spectacular tour and it was the highlight of our trip! We lucked out with a clear day and the ride was very smooth. Our pilot, Toshi, was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable and asked us questions to get us involved. Definitely do this if you want to see all the Big Island has to offer!

My 18 year old son and I took this tour for his graduation trip and instead of one of our cruise's stops instead of one of the shore excursions offered...and we are both so glad we did! This was an AMAZING experience! Pilot Greg was simply awesome! I found myself in awe of the beauty we saw in Kauai from that perspective. Thank you so much!

This was SO worth it!!! My family wanted a unique experience of a lifetime and this was it. Captain Greg was awesome- so knowledgable and friendly. I traveled with my 75 year old mother, husband and daughters (7 and 12). We all LOVED it. We were nervous, having never been in a helicopter. But, Blue Hawaiian did a great job training us before our flight and Greg put us at ease. Every one of us had a great view, learned a lot about the island, and all agree it was the best excursion we've ever taken. Blue Hawaiian provides great tips for trip too- I definitely second their suggestion to wear dark colors (if you can- long sleeves and pants) to avoid reflections in the glass. If you are waffling on this trip, DO IT! It is SO worth it.

The Big Island Spectacular exceeded all expectations. Our pilot Toshi demonstrated knowledge, commitment and passion that was above and beyond.

Better than imagined. Amazing experience, the whole excursion was fantastic. Seeing the island from the air in all it's richness, learning the history & all the islands accomplishments bringing it all together through the song selection - you feel the experience, just wow! Toshi was our pilot and made the tour an A++, so passionate & loving what he does. Thank you for putting together an experience of a lifetime.

We had a wonderful helicopter ride. This is well worth the price. Our family of 5 saw amazing views of this amazing island! Just beautiful!

We did the big adventure with Blue Hawaiian helicopter where we landed near a waterfall and it was beautiful and fantastic. Other then the incorrect address location to meet up, the ride was smooth, great scenery, great pilot with Matt and the information about Hawaii was superb

Biggest highlight of the trip!!! The view was absolutely stunning! Strongly recommend! Our pilot was super friendly and informational, with outstanding skills. He made the flight very smooth. We chose the door off option and it wasn’t scary at all.

An all around great experience. We had a great flight with Mat and enjoyed every minute of.our adventure. Well organized, professional company. Felt safe the entire time.
