We fly on Blue Hawaiian out of Waikola on the Big Island Spectacular tour. The tour was amazing yet pricey; however we felt it was worth the cost. Any tour is going to be an investment and if you are going to do it might as well go "all in". The tour is divided in 2 parts. The 1st part flies you around the volcanoes. Note - on most days wind, clouds, smoke may prevent you from seeing all the volcanoes. The day of our tour it was too smoky to fly over Kilauea which is OK as safety 1st! After flying over the volcanoes, which is amazing, you will be taken back to home base for refueling. Pro Tip - during refueling you get off the helicopter so good time for a bathroom break or to get a snack. The 2nd part of the Big Island Spectacular takes you to the East and North side of the Big Island. You will see green valleys, waterfalls and the coast. The highlight of the trip is when they land you in a (very) small grassy area at the base of a waterfall. Words cannot describe how amazing this is to experience. You get 20 minutes or so to walk around take pictures, etc. Bonus on our trip - there were LOTS of humpback whales. Our pilot fly us over the water and tipped the helicopter left and right so everyone could see the whales. We saw Mama whales and their babies playing in the water; must have seen at least a dozen whales. It was incredible! Pro Tips - Blue Hawaiian asks you to show up 1 hour before departure and respect the time it tales to get you ready to fly. Do not inconvenience your fellow passengers by being late. Flights are weight balanced; they weigh you when you get there (don't worry no one sees the weigh in); respect the fact in order to be safe, based on weight, you are placed in certain seats in the helicopter. Do not argue with the staff on where they want you to sit as safety 1st!! The staff does their best to keep groups together. 3 seats in front with the pilot front left and 2 passengers. 4 seats in the back, 2 outside, 2 inside. The "inside seats" have great views so don't worry. The Blue Hawaiian staff & pilots at Waikoloa are fantastic! Janie (sp) was super accommodating and helpful. Our pilot was Kai and he was cool as could be making our flight smooth and safe. As mentioned, Blue Hawaiian's #1 priority s safety; they won't fly if they think it's not safe (which is great). Worth mentioning 1 more time; flying on a helicopter is a big investment. If you can afford it, step up for the Big Island Spectacular, it's worth the cost.

Amazing flight and definitely a must when you visit Hawaii!

We were fortunate to take two helicopter tours with Blue Hawaiian during our trip this year. We took our first trip from the Waikoloa location on the Big Island. The team there was professional, yet incredibly personable. We purchased the video from our flight, and one of the team member took extra time to check that our video was fully uploaded to the USB. We were appreciative of that because we traveled from Boston. Edmund our pilot was quite knowledgeable. It was a lovely experience. When we went to Kauai we booked a tour out of Lihue. Our first booked flight was canceled due to weather. Fine, there are things our of our control. We understood and we lucky to be able to rebook prior to heading home. Our original flight was at 2:25pm, but when we were rebooked, our flight was at 8am. I received an email stating that early morning flights were discounted. When I asked the front desk about it, I received a very curt response. The weather is not their fault, so we would not receive the discount. I was merely curious as to whether the discount applied to us. It became clear that we were simply bodies that filled the seats on the helicopter. The tour itself was incredible. However, the customer service will remain in our memories along with the majestic scenery. We purchased the flight video from this tour as well. They were not busy in the office, but our USB was not checked for the video. We were told that we had 30 days to inform them if the video was not there. I will still take another Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour in the future. I hope it was just a bad couple of days for the team at the Lihue location.

The flight was super smooth and the pilot knowledgeable. We got very close to some of the sights, very cool!

An experience of a lifetime! Blue Hawaiian Helicopters delivered amazing views and a wonderful experience. The pilot was wonderful and the ground crew was very helpful.
