Leuk om met een helikopter boven een actieve vulkaan te vliegen. Je kunt vanuit de lucht goed zien hoe de lava (veelal ondergronds) zich een weg baant door de bossen. Daarnaast zie je ook mooie watervallen van bovenaf. Helaas zijn er op dit moment geen lavastromen te zien, maar slechts een aantal gaten in de grond waar lava onder stroomt. Het is wel vrij prijzig, rond de $ 200 voor 45 minuten.

This was a great experience. We all felt very safe and were surprised at how much of the island is still untouched. Outstanding coverage of the whole island and awesome scenes that you can’t imagine otherwise. The pilot gave us insightful information on where to go next and what to see. I recommend this trip to anyone as a must do for any Hawaii visit.

all services as promised, when promised. The $25 DVD is a good buy if your in the seat beside the pilot. (1 in 6 odds). Weight limit of 250 lbs per passenger before they start charging additional fees. Shuttle transportation not included, but easy to arrange.

Awesome experience. Lava, waterfalls, comfortable ride with a really nice pilot named Greg. Highly recommend. Worth the money.

Breathtaking views and a very informative guide. Also very reasonably priced. I would go on another tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters in a heartbeat!

Pretty awesome ride! Probably more scenic on Kauai.

My husband and I were 45 minutes late to our check in time and we received a free upgrade! When we got there they told us that we received a complimentary upgrade so that instead of the 30 min flight over West Maui we would have a 50 min flight over West Maui and Molakai. When we got out to the helicopter the helper offered to take pictures with everyone's phones in front of the helicopter, so that was really nice. It was really windy that day so there was a lot of turbulence, but that couldn't really be helped. The pilot, Emmery, was very nice, and had interesting commentary about what we were seeing. He actually gave us an extra 10 minutes on our ride. This is definitely one thing you have to try once in your lifetime and I would recommend going with this company.

Nice tour

During our week's stay. Inclement weather didn't allow us to fly our tour. So we re-scheduled, and again weather almost canceled our trip again. We went on a different tour. I kinda expexted more. Staff was friendly and helpful.

I have gone out with Blue Hawaiian twice (Maui and the Big Island) both experiences were really good. The long tour on Maui where they land on Haleakala is amazing. Pilot was very nice and showed us everything. Big Island Volcano tour was incredible. Wish I had gone with Blue Hawaiian more. Will visit them again for sure. By the way spend the extra money to go on the Eco Star - it is a great helicopter- quiet and great views.

As our first helicopter ride, my husband and I chose Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. We were excited to see a live volcano with lava coming out, and we were not disappointed. In fact, we had a great time. The ground crew is all very friendly, and you can tell they enjoy their jobs. Safety is clearly their priority. They are ready to answer all questions. The Hilo Airport is a nice, open-air facility where food and beverages are available. Parking is easy. When you go, park in the main parking lot, though. The instructions on the confirmation email are a little confusing about parking. Our pilot was James, and he shared his enthusiasm for the island, its inhabitants and its wildlife with us. We went on the Circle of Fire plus Waterfalls tour. We flew over Pu`u `O`o, a volcano with lava visibly flowing out of a vent. James circled over several times to allow all the occupants to get pictures and enjoy the view. We also flew by where the lava is pouring into the ocean before hovering over beautiful waterfalls. It was very interesting, and I recommend Blue Hawaiian.

Awesome! This was a great tour. The pilot was very knowledgeable & made sure both sides of the helicopter got a good view of each landmark. Very professional. I'd love to use them for a tour of another island when we visit again.

The tour was fantastic! Worth every penny! Our pilot, Jeremy was informative, funny and is the primary reason I would recommend this company for a helicopter tour. My family flew December 27th 2011 and we saw the active lava flow from the Pu`u `O`o vent. Jeremy flew us over the location where the lava was flowing into the ocean several times. He made sure that everyone was able to get a good look before moving on to the next location. Our guide book stated that the pilot would either make or break the tour and they were right. Jeremy not only was a good pilot, he was a top notch guide.

My mother in law and I had a great time. Our first flight was cancelled due to bad weather, and we given a choice to reschedule or get our money back. We rescheduled and did not regret it at all. The pilot was nice and had alot of information about the island. Everyone working there was really nice and professional. When we come back we will be using them again.
