You can't control which seat you get and yet that makes a real difference. If you don't sit in front, your experience, while very good, is impacted by always looking out the side window. The impact of watching the mountain come at you is lost. So for us we were a little disappointed because we had an image in our mind (and after watching the videos showing in the waiting room), yet only the people in the front seat actually get to have the experience of coming right up to the edge and over the top. Good experience for sure but not quite what we expected based on their videos (which we believe is due to being in the back seat and having no view of what was going on up front).
Nice trip and I was looking forward to buying the Blu Ray but all they would sell me was a thumb drive for $40.00! I got it and will download it when I get home but I wanted a Blu Ray. No port on my Apple iPad or cell phone.
For the love of my husband I agreed to take one, and only one helicopter ride. Call it a slight fear of flying. In any event, my husband and another couple from the mainland took the helicopter tour with a pilot named Geoff. Geoff was very knowledgeable and friendly - in fact when I got off the helicopter I turned to my husband and said "I would do that again, as long as Geoff is our pilot." Great Job ! Mahalo.
What a great flight and tour allowing us to see all the terrain in Kauai. With only 27% of the island accessible via car, this helicopter tour was first class. Our pilot was an ex Marine and made my wife and I feel very safe. A great job and shout out to Trevor. A beautiful helicopter with nice music and microphones for asking any questions was appreciated. Blue Hawaiian may be a bit pricier than other helicopter tours but money well spent for safety and comfort.
This was our first time in Kauai. Blue Hawaiian was the best rated on Trip Advisor and it deserves this rating. The ground crew was very professional, Our Pilot Geoffry was extremely friendly, a very skilled pilot and knowledgeable of the entire tour. He made our adventure very enjoyable. This tour is well worth the cost and gives you a fantastic overview of what this entire island has to offer. It absolutely beautiful. Ju.st a quick note, if you have a GO Pro - Bring it
Ok so I'm not posting one photo because you really need to see it yourself. Amazing flight thanks to GoGo he really made the flight special. We learnt a lot and he gives great travel ideas for you to do on the tour and points out how to get there etc. We already did the big island tour with diamond head and they were amazing too. He pointed out much of what we did and all that we did was great so A+ for the tips GoGo. You even get the opportunity to purchase the video from your actual flight too!! Thanks again for the great experience we will never forget.
Yes it is a little pricey compared to most tours you will don while on any vacation however this is probably the BEST tour you will ever do. The views of active lava coming out of the volcano, the waterfalls of over 2500 feet and the rest of the island is AMAZING! defiantly get the zip drive of your tour!! GREAT TOUR LOVED EVERY MINUTE!!
Never been on a helicopter in my life till I jumped on this one. IT was smooth and never felt safer with their pilots. What a great way to look at OAHU! Wow... I don't think there was a bad seat in the chopper. The views of the island are amazing... can't say much about it. The pilots tell you a lot of the area.. Point out the malls, Gilligans island, Magnum P.I. house.... movie seats and more. Great price... for about 45 mins of touring. I used my AAA discount.. only paid 210. Enjoy! aloha
We had enjoyed helicopter tours before but this was one of the best! The pilot provided local knowledge blended with his own experiences and sardonic humor. I am a photographer and he accommodated my angles and views as much as possible so that I could get the best shot. Our only unhappiness is that it was over in what seemed like a blink of the eye!
We were debating where to go for helicopter tour but indeed around the Lihue airport you get the best prices. They had a clean comfortable air conditioned store to wait and get your safety briefing. Other companies just had port a potties. The helicopters were brand new and super nice. Standard seats 7 including the pilot. You go with strangers but really its no big deal! The video didn't work but they called us later and sent us the video for free to our home so that was great customer service!
We went with our family of 5 - 3 children, 2 adults! Trevor was our pilot... He was PHENOMENAL! Very informative, personable and wonderful with the kids! 1st class operation.
We’d flown with Blue Hawaiian on Maui previously, so when we made our first trip to Kauai, it was a no-brainer to do the island tour with them. Once again, we had an incredible flight! We were in the back seat and had no issues seeing all of the sights as our pilot, Barrett, was sure to rotate the helicopter so everyone got a view. Seeing the Na Pali Coast as well as Waimea Canyon from the air was absolutely breathtaking! It rained for much of our flight – quite common on Kauai – but it didn’t damper our experience in the least. The only disappointment is that they no longer offer DVDs or Blu-Rays of your actual flight (although their web site still says they do). Instead, they sell you your video on a flash drive that’s begging to be misplaced for $40.
Aloha! Our family of 7 took a helicopter tour of the Kauai island with Blue Hawaiian. The age range of family from tween to 80s. The keiki and grandma sat in front and the other four sat in the back. Our pilot/guide was Miguel. Miguel explained the sites in detail, answered questions, turned the helicopter around so each side can get a good view of the wonderful vistas. What impressed us about Miguel is that he addressed each of us individually, using our names which are not the easiest to pronounce. The helicopter ride was smooth which is also a credit to the pilot. This was our first ride in a helicopter so it felt really special. The most favorite aspect of the tour was the closing in toward the waterfalls in the wai'ale'ale crater. That was breathtaking! The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because we had seen some of the beauty before by car/foot (last look out point in waimea canyon, sunset from hideways beach). If this was the first time we were seeing the island, it would have been a 5 star experience for us. I wish I could give 4.5 rating. I recommend this tour whole heartedly. If budget is a concern, then do save up for it for the experience.
This was my first time in a helicopter and our exemplary pilot Toshi put everyone at ease with his friendliness, levity and knowledge. The Ecostar helicopter was as comfortable as it was beautiful. With the Bose headphones, we could clearly hear wonderfully selected music suitable for the scenery before us and we could communicate through microphones (3 mics provided, so that each two passengers shared a mic). Although I was in an inner seat, I had good sight lines to all of the magnificent scenery - of course, those in the front and window seats had excellent, unobstructed views. Time passed quickly during our 1-hour, 45 minute tour of Hawaii Island. We were very fortunate to have a clear day and we could see lots! (We also watched a safety video prior to going to the helicopter). Although several of us were looking forward to seeing Akaka Falls (442 ft. waterfall) Toshi reassured us that we would be treated to even grander views. We didn't realize that we would soon be extremely impressed by experiencing multiple waterfalls that we would otherwise not be able to see without strenuous hiking - falls that were between 1,000 to 2,600 feet! Also exciting was seeing Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park from the air. We looked into a crater and saw glowing, bubbling lava. Toshi ensured that passengers on both sides of the helicopter got good views and camera shots of this and of all the spectacular scenery during the flight. We saw old lava flows (with some vegetation) and new flows (darker with no vegetation); steam vents; forests being burned and could clearly see the line between burned trees and green forests; we also saw lush hidden valleys, dynamic ocean shoreline, Hilo, Parker Ranch, macadamia nut orchards, and much, much more. The record of our flight (several cameras were running during our flight and these views were edited and included shots of us inside the helicopter) would normally have been available for us purchase after the tour however, Blue Hawaiian gave us each a usb of our trip because of technical difficulty (incomplete footage and no audio). We travelled with a kama'aina friend from Aiea who was most impressed by the beauty of the Big Island ... she had no idea, even though she has lived in the state of Hawaii for most of her life! Toshi said that it is too bad that only 5% of the folks who are staying across the way - at Waikoloa - take this helicopter ride. I think this unfortunate too and am thankful to have had the opportunity. Thank you Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, I am recommending this trip to all who I know are going to Hawaii. Am looking forward to taking the Kauai Blue Hawaiian Helicopter ride next time I visit the Garden Isle.
I did the 45min flight around Oahu about a week ago. And having worked for helicopter tour operation in Australia was keen to see the service and experience they offer. So glad I booked. From booking via phone and free pickup from Waikiki they,re staff were great. Awesome chopper and narration from pilot along with s tracking and orbits at highlight locations to give every seat an opportunity for a great view and photo opportunity. I took footage via a go pro which im pleased with , however I can see the benefit of the flight footage recorded on external cameras on helicopter. These guys provide a professional experience and from my experience seem focused on up holding as well as continual improvement to delivering a quality unique view of the the island.
