With only 2 days on Kauai, we asked friends what we should see and do. Their reply was to take a helicopter flight. Great! Not my favourite mode of transport. Because my husband really wanted to do this, I agreed. We chose Blue Hawaiian and were not disappointed. Their reputation and professionalism is unsurpassed. After the safety briefing, we met our pilot and boarded the helicopter. He explained where we would be flying and gave us a superb description as well a great view for all passengers. Most of Kauai is inaccessible and the best way to see it is from the air. This was definitely a highlight and I will happily do it again.
For the second time we have flown with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. 15 years ago on the Big Island, this time Kauai. So glad we took trip. Not cheap but worth every penny. Professional pilot; great aircraft; good safety and trip prep before flight. Very nice video available for purchase after flight. The views during the flight and the background info from the pilot made this the highlight of our trip. We were very fortunate as we had minimal clouds and rain - very unpredictable. Recommend earlier flights as clouds build up more later in day - per locals.
We truly loved our Blue Hawaiian helicopter experience, it is the only way to see the entire island, and we saw it ALL, waterfall after waterfall, the Na Pali coast, the Kauai Crater, and much much more. We got so close to the waterfalls and mountains that we felt like we could reach out and touch them ... but our amazing pilot Barrette had us feeling completely safe and sound the entire trip. Now the caveat, we were told we could get a video of our adventure so we didn't take as many pictures and we were excited to pay almost any premium they would charge, but when we got back to base the quality of the video was AWFUL. Only to find out that we had the only helicopter in their fleet not retrofitted with the better cameras. It was so bad that there was no way I would pay a dime for it ... they should have given it to us for free so we could at least do a little advertising to our friends. We really wanted to bring a memory home with us but not that piece of garbage. 5 stars for the experience and 0 stars for the video, averages out to 3. Our recommendation, do it, just make sure you get a chopper with better video system.
We booked the Island Spectacular with the waterfall landing. Words an hardly describe how spectacular this trip was. The team there is terrific. Safety is a prime concern for them and it shows. Ian was our pilot. He's a big reason we had such a great time. Friendly, engaging and super knowledgeable about his bird and the tour spots. Thanks, Blue Hawaiian for an amazing day and a trip of a lifetime!
We took the 60 minute West Maul / Molakai Tour on the Eco-Stars helicopters. I highly recommend the Eco-star over the A-Star as they are much newer helicopters (or they look it) and are very comfortable. We got to see plenty of waterfalls as it had rained the past 2 days so we got a very nice experience on the ride. Highly recommend this activity as it is quite unique especially if you've never been in a helicopter.
What an amazing experience! My daughter and I took the Island tour and I must say it was money well spent. Great way to see some of the most beautiful waterfalls that are only accessible by Air. Our pilot was Glenda who was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of Island information. She has such a soothing voice that if you're nervous of flying (like I was) hearing her voice was comforting. The helicopter is comfortable. We had window seats so had an awesome view. Definitely recommend flying with Blue Hawaiian...
We had fun and had a great tour around the island. At first was bit nervous but Marco our pilot made the flight very smooth and provided an informative ride. It is definitely pricey but worth it. We were on the Euro and got a nice view and felt safe. It was pretty amazing. Loved the view from up in the sky. It was quite peaceful at times when we were going over the island. The headphones cancel much of the noise, they played some music, some were bit off but overall nice complement to the view. The shuttle was there early at our hotel and came to pick us up and take us to the heliport so if you didn't have a car, that's no problem. It was about 30 mins. They will also drop you off. The staff checking us in were friendly and they have to weigh you there again to be sure the weight is appropriate. You can't take anything on the helicopter except for cameras. phone and water. They lock your belongings for you. Safety is important which is good to see. After we landed, we were given a cool towel and they had water on the porch for you as well. They provide a recording if you like to purchase it. We got ours for free because the audio wasn't working. Was really worth it. Those considering timing of this adventure, it might be good to do it early so you can see everything and then decide where you want to go. Fun!!!
I always enjoy flying with this company and have flown with them on 2 other islands. The customer service is impeccable (shout out to Kevin in reservations), the pilots are all professionals, and I know I am in good hands every time we take off. Also, I love the eco-star helicopters! Big windows and comfy seats. You can never go wrong flying with these guys!
Not doubt that taking a Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour is an expensive splurge, but it is worth every penny. My wife was worried she would get air sick and couldn't handle it, but she finally agreed to it. Once she was on the tour she loved it, as did the rest of us. Our guide/pilot Loren, did a fantastic job. The tour included breath-taking views of Oahu not to be missed, including an approach to Pearl Harbor from the north end of the island that took us on the route that the Japanese bombers used in WWII.
Very relaxed atmosphere, expensive, but breathtaking. Pilot was great--told us everything we needed to know. The girl that drove the shuttle was very accommodating.
We don't usually do these sorts of activities on holiday, but everyone told us that Kauai is the place to do a helicopter flight, and they were right. We went on Blue Hawaiian and they are the best. The helicopter held 6 people in comfortable seats with great viewing from any of the seats. We had ear phones to hear the pilot's narrative. We flew with Brody and he was very knowledgeable so that we got a good historical and biological overview of the island. He clearly loves his job! We could ask questions that all could hear and he was able to answer everything we could think of to ask! First class experience for all of us!
Excellent tour, pilot was fantastic and was full of great information that really help connect the landmarks with movies and scenery we can relate too. Just the best way to see the island. Really awesome to see the different climate changes in just one flight!!! A must do for your trip here..
Despite popping a Xanax pre-flight because I was a little anxious, the helicopter ride over Kauai is worth every penny. We did a fair bit of research to figure out which company had the best record, best aircraft, etc. and Blue Hawaiian came out on top - post-flight, it's pretty easy to see why. They have a very professional operation with really good staff, and the helicopter itself was extremely comfortable (there were just five passengers on our trip, so we had lots of room) and steady. Marty was an exceptional pilot who really helped put me at ease from the moment we got it. And we were lucky enough to have seats in front - luck of the (weight) draw, but so awesome. If you're ever going to do a helicopter ride, Kauai is the place to do it.
The entire experience with Blue Hawaiian was excellent. The quality of the service provided is great. Our pilot was extremely knowledgeable of the area and more importantly very good at what he did. He made everyone in the chopper feel at ease. I would fly with blue hawaiian in Kauai again.
Great flight over the canyon and Nepali coast. Fly over the rugged landscape, with massive cliffs, incredible waterfalls and inaccessible coastline. The pilot was great, and made sure everyone gets to see everything. Well organized, pickup from ship included. They record the flight from 3 external and 1 internal cameras with pilot and passenger comments and conversations.
