Super friendly and organized staff. Well thought of details, safe, and secure. Pilots were more than just pilots - an enormous wikipedia of information and entertainment. Definitely worth the money (Big Island Spectacular) and fulfilled my childhood dream of riding in a helicopter over the volcanoes of Hawaii!
A great way to learn about the Big Island. Planning a flight early in your vacation will give you an amazing overview of what the island has to offer. You can decide where you want to visit by ground based on your own personal preference. Your pilot will provide some valuable insight as well as take you to inaccessible areas of the island. Snap a photo or two but make sure to take plenty of memories; cameras are incapable of capturing the magnitude of what this flight has to offer.
This is the best way to see the Island of Kauai. It is well worth every cent. The scenery is breathtaking on the Napali Coast.
It has definitely made Kauai my favorite island of them all. After booking a raft tour of the Na Pali coast, we decided that an another view from up top would be better. Thankfully I bit the gun and went with it. It was the best experience I ever had, offering mountain, sea, and many waterfall views from several angles. The windows on the helicopter were streak free so my camera never got pictures of smudges on them. Our pilot was outgoing, welcoming, and very informative. At the end I decided to buy the DVD that records the views as we flew along with our conversations throughout the flight. It was absolutely priceless. My living room full of 8x10 pictures I took that flight leave every visitor that comes in my home questioning where I took them and how beautiful they are. When I think of my 5 day trip to Kauai full of adventure and activities each day, the first experience that comes to mind is this. You will NOT regret it! P.S. Military get a discount as well so take a advantage of it!
We called and booked a tour for the next day. They check you in, weigh you, ask you to put your stuff in a locker and watch the safety video before giving you a life jacket, and a boarding number. Our helicopter had some issues, they offered a refund or to fly half an hour later, which we did. Gladly as our pilot ended up being Shay, an excellent pilot, and very nice dude. It was raining so we got a little scared that it would be bumpy, some folks coming back from their tour were sick but Shay made it a very smooth flight. Beautiful island even under the rain, flying over the crater was really impressive. It was fun to talk with Shay and the people flying with us during the tour, the helicopter was comfortable. Friendly staff overall. Things I didn't like. - The price of the DVD or USB of your tour is pretty expensive ($40). Especially given that the tour itself is quite expensive. - I'm a wildlife person and when the pilot tells you that the only wildlife on the island was introduced, that makes me cringe. What about the Monk Seal, Laysan Albatross, frigatebirds, boobies, shearwaters, all the native songbirds and especially, the White-tailed Tropicbirds flying everywhere in the canyon that you spot while flying? But well, they're not biologists and the guidebook said that their facts weren't spot on anyway so I let it go. - I was excited but also worried when I saw Hawaiian Stilts landing on the field. I asked the boarding staff if they had issues with birds, I know that happens at airports, and call me naive but I wasn't expecting the following answer. "Yes we do, we have to shoot them sometimes". Wait "shoo or shoot?" I asked again. "Shoot". No more helicopter for me...
Hard to describe the beauty. If you have seen the area from the ground you can have a small idea of what it must look like from the air. We work hard for our money and it was worth every penny!
Just an awesome view of the island of Kauai! Our pilot Shay was very friendly and answered any questions that we asked. He explained all the various sites on our flight and made us feel very comfortable on the flight. Just a great experience. All the personnel were very friendly.
I am a Kauai resident and I absolutely love this island. When I took a helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian last month I feel even more in love. There is no way to truly grasp the beauty of this island from the ground. From the moment you walk into the office you feel like a part of the family. The staff is so welcoming. True Aloha! The pilot Brodi was fantastic. You can tell that he really loves this island and his job. His commentary, flight soundtrack and excellent piloting skills made it an experience of a lifetime. I recommend Blue Hawaiian to all my friends and family when they visit Kauai. Mahalo Blue Hawaiian and Brodi!
Was an excellent trip, four of the five of us had never been on a helicopter before and it was without a hitch! They prep you and make sure all is good. The quality of the souvenirs and specifically embroidery, can be very much improved though. It is pricey though, can't do this every trip....! The hour goes way too fast though....... ! lol
Awesome awesome awesome!!! The helicopter was like a limo, very nice accommodations! Our pilot Adam was Awesome!!! Will book another flight next time I'm in Hawaii!!!
My husband grew up in Hawaii and we come over at least once a year to visit the family. We were looking for something special to do with my 92 year old father-in-law who has seen and done it all on Oahu during his lifetime. We stumbled onto an ad for Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and called them directly (it's a little cheaper that way). Neither my husband nor I thought there would be much to see on Oahu. But we thought that Henry would enjoy seeing the island from a bird's eye view. Also the weather was cloudy with a few sprinkles. This turned out to be an amazing trip! First off, our pilot, Julie greeted each of us by name. When did she have time to memorize our names? They gave grandpa a front row seat. He was as excited as an elderly Chinese man can get! She flew very smoothly and took time to turn the helicopter so everyone could get the best view. She played the Hawaii 5-0 theme song when we took off, and that got us excited! She pointed out landmarks and gave us a great tour. Even my husband, who grew up on Oahu, learned some new facts. And that flight into the Sacred Falls area was breathtaking! Her command of the helicopter was amazing! Even Grandpa was speechless. We saw parts of the island that are inaccessible to people, with beautiful pristine forests that we didn't know existed on Oahu, and we swooped down over Pearl Harbor. So we were all blown away by the beauty of Oahu, and the friendliness, knowledge, safety and professionalism of the staff at Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. We highly recommend them and also the flight over Oahu.
Amazing trip - first hour over the volcano and lava flows and the next hour over the different landscapes from lava to tropical and mountain waterfalls. Eric the pilot was fantastic and you can purchase the video USB to remember everything you saw. Ecostar was the best
Great tour. I know that it is rather expensive, but it certainly is worthwhile. We drove to the northern part of the island yesterday, but you do not have an idea as to where exactly you are if you have not seen it from above. Greg was a great pilot and did a great job of explaining everything: from the volcanoes, to the waterfalls and the rain forests: very informative. Would. Certainly recommend the tour to everyone.
The best possible way to see Oahu. Comfortable informative viewing. Highly recommended. After taking a bus tour around Oahu and Pearl Harbour, we decided it would be fun to take a Blue Hawaiian Helicopter flight to see the lay of the land from a different perspective. On 13 August 2014 we took the helicopter flight and it was amazing to see key points of interest from the air. I was able to take lots of photos and was just blown away with the beautiful island. Don't miss out on this amazing experience.
Loved the view of the waterfalls in the inner canyons of Kauai. Preferred the Holo Holo boat ride along Na Pali coast because it moved slower and was closer and could see sea life. $27 DVD of our trip was blurry, so view it before you buy it.
