I am pregnant, so I was especially nervous about the safety of a helicopter experience. Blue Hawaiian was definitely the right choice. I did research on the various companies, and made sure I chose the one with all the appropriate safety procedures. And I felt extremely safe once arriving to the heliport, and being on board. As for the ride.... The experience was thrilling! The views were breath taking, and we loved seeing the island from up above! I would recommend doing this at the beginning of your trip, to get a lay of the land before exploring on land.
We were limited on time & nervous to drive the infamous road to Hana so we did the hybrid helicopter/bus tour with Blue Hawaiian & Temptation Tours. Both were first class. The trip was amazing. I can't say enough good things about this trip. I was thankful to not have to do the road to Hana twice, but you get to see so much from the sky. It is a great combo!
What an amazing way to see the Island. If you are lucky enough you will have Brodie as your pilot... the knowledge that he brings to the tour makes it even more memoriable... he makes sure that everyone is seeing all there is to see, and was always pointing out things to see... the time flew by, and we did not want it to end.. Even one of our group who was not sure he was going to like the helicopter , is now looking forward to doing it again on another vacation... I thank Brodie for giving us all a trip we will remember for a life time.... We also got the video of the trip, there was so many things to see, that you can relive them over and over again.... Thanks for a great ending to a great day on the Island...
Our helicopter ride over Kauai was phenomenal. Our pilot & narrator Brodie (a native Hawaiian) did an outstanding job in showing us the incredible beauty of Kauai and sharing some of the history of the island - including Waimea Canyon, the Pali coastline, and finally into the crater area of Mount Wai'ale'ale. The helicopter Blue Hawaiian uses is truly far superior to others that we saw at the heliport. Both of us sat in the back seat and had great views and we could hear the narration quite well with the Bose headphones provided & could ask questions with a microphone. It was definitely worth the extra money to fly with Blue Hawaiian. If you only take one helicopter ride in Hawaii, do it over Kauai.
This was our last shore trip on our cruise of Hawaii and what a way to end it .First off i am afraid of heights but was talked into this one and don't regret it at all ,shortly after lift off with our pilot Brodie I felt comfortable and safe and started to look around . The scenery was amazing and realizing that your seeing things that people that live there never have the chance to see .The mountains ,waterfalls ,greenery and ocean views were like no where I have ever seen . Thank You everyone at Blue Hawaiian for a job well done .
A helicopter tour of Kauai is a must. So much of the island is unreachable by car and there are so many world famous sites to see. Blue Hawaiian, and our pilot Barrett are the perfect way to experience the beauty of Kauai.
Hands down...best experience!! This was the highlight of the trip and worth every penny. Our pilot is an ex Army helicopter pilot with 25+ years experience. Helicopter was clean and I felt safe the entire trip. Pictures are easily taken from all seats. Wear dark clothing to help with the reflection...we had time to quickly change. We will do it again!
This was the trip highlight. Brody was a great pilot and very informative. The eco tour was amazing and the sights we saw will keep us coming back. By stroke of luck our group of 4 had the helicopter to ourselves!
My girlfriend and I took this tour during our 1-week stay in Honolulu. One of our most memorable experiences during that stay. The helicopters are well-maintained, they look like new and the pilots are very knowledgeable about the area. The helicopters seat up to 6 passengers and seating assignments are given right before the flight. We were lucky enough to be seated at the front 2 seats alongside the pilot, so we took our DSLR camera and got some great shots. The pilot was very entertaining and provided some very interesting anecdotes, pointing out areas where popular Hollywood movies and shows are filmed, such as Godzilla. Our only complaint would be with the complimentary shuttle service, which arrived 30 mins late without any notice beforehand.
We traveled with Blue Hawaii Helicopters because it was part of NCL’s Heaven and Earth Quest excursion – this excursion included a helicopter sight seeing as well as sight seeing on land. First we were taken to the airport for the helicopter tour. Our helicopter tour was 30-40 minutes delayed because someone had been sick in the helicopter we were supposed to take. After many attempts to clean it, then finally brought in another helicopter for us. The helicopters each hold 7 guests, 3 in the front and 4 in the back, so not everyone gets a window seat. The company assigns seats by weight so you do not have a seating choice. Ideally, a window seat is best. There were 6 of us, so 2 in the front and 4 in the back. Also, if you wear lighter color clothing they will force you to wear a black t-shirt that they provide to prevent glare in photos. At first I was annoyed with this idea, but once up in the helicopter, I had a seat next to the window and there was a lot of glare in my photos from the yellow safety pouch the person in front of me was wearing. The scenery was spectacular! The photos we took do not even begin to show the depth of what we saw. I would highly recommend a helicopter tour of Hawaii! It was well worth the price. We timed the ride and it was 48 minutes. (Since we were on NCL Heaven and Earth Quest excursion, there was also a land tour portion of this excursion. The land part was a little dull, but we did get to see most of the east side of the island including Hanalei Bay and Kilauea Point. Lunch was provided and was a turkey sandwich, chips, and water that we ate at a park beside the ocean. Kilauea Point was beautiful with lots of birds and beautiful rocky coastline. We got some great photos there.) A helicopter ride is a must do in Kauai. Which company should you go with? I’m not sure it really makes a difference. The scenery is fantastic no matter what! It is worth the cost!
I'm afraid of heights but this helicopter ride was not scary. Instead, the views of the big island, volcanoes, and gorgeous waterfalls had me completely captivated for 2 hours. Yes, it's expensive, but it's a unique experience that will be one of the highlights of your trip.
Had an amazing adventure on my first ever helicopter ride, over so many places in Hawaii, even saw whales breaching from above. WHat an amazing site. Had a female pilot. Yay sisterhood and looking at Pearl Harbor from above was tear jerking.
Taking a helicopter ride is certainly a beautiful way to see the island. The helicopters were modern and our pilot was very friendly, informative and well trained. We felt safe, well, except when he went up in the cavern, but that was me, not him! Our pilot, Marty, was very informative and sociable. And the on ground crew was very professional as well. My only complaint is the reflections from the glass on the helicopter itself makes it hard to get pictures without reflections. To their credit, they provide black tshirts, but folks tennis shoes, my phone case emblem, etc, reflect in many of the pictures. You can get around this about 60% of the time and I'm not sure if this is an issue with other companies, we did not have this issue in Alaska but those choppers were definitely older. This company is progressive with their Eco friendly choppers, so maybe that is the trade off. Highly recommend this trip and group, with that said,
Utterly professional, informative, friendly, educational. The flight was amazing and comfortable. 10 stars for them!
This was our third trip by helicopter, second on Blue Hawaiian. After doing Blue Hawaiian, we'll never try another copter company. This is the cadillac of helicopters. Great pilots, great headsets, great views. It was raining this time so we couldn't go into Mt. Waialeale, but we saw a full rainbow in Waimea Canyon that kept shifting as we moved. It was truly one of those "thin" places that spiritual folks talk about. The safety briefing and care of the grounds crew is unsurpassed. The facility where you meet is beautiful and easy to relax in while you wait. Definitely a must-do!
