When our zodiac tour of the Na Pali coast was cancelled due to rough seas , we booked with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters to see the island and coastline. From reservation to touchdown the tour was professionally run, organized and sheer pleasure. ( not a pun on the shear cliffs of the coast) . Marty , our pilot was informative, competent and experienced. The views were something of fantasy; Waterfalls, poi farms, weather eroded cliffs, crashing waves , this tour is a must do. I live on the Big Island and will now make sure to do the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour here. Always hesitated because of the cost but will hesitate no longer, worth every breathtaking dollar.
We booked our flight online and the process was quick and easy. We arrived at Blue Hawaiian and were greeted promptly. Everyone at the facility was polite and friendly and efficient. Our pilot, Brodie was amazing. He clearly loves Kauai and was he does. He was informative and flew the helicopter so everyone in the aircraft could get a great view. Unfortunately, the weather took a turn for the worse, and our flight had to be canceled half way through. Due to our travel schedule, we were unable to rebook our flight, so our entire cost was refunded. I was surprised, as we did get about half our flight, but they refunded all our money. Additionally, they gave us the recording of our flight for free. I wish we could have done the full flight, but I understand safety must come first. Blue Hawaiian handled the situation professionally and more than exceeded my expectations. Will definitely book with them again, if I ever get back to Kauai. They were fantastic!
I hesitated to do the helicopter ride bc of the price but right before we left on our trip to Kauai I heard from a couple people or sources that it was seriously necessary to any trip to the island. You simply can't see the whole island unless you fly or are a crazy hiker person. With a 10 yr old this seemed like the better option. I was considering BH because of the recommendations I had seen but when we got to the island and I saw that you could purchase $100 gift cards for BH at Cosco for $80 each that helped with my reservation about the cost. Like went ahead and booked with the company and because I waited til we were there I was afraid they wouldn't be able to get us in. But I think they run so many flights a day unless your party is huge they'll be able to accommodate you. Our pilots name was Mark and he answered every single question my 10 year old had with humor and professionally regardless of they made sense or not. And my son through a ton at him- at the end my son thought Mark knew EVERYTHING about the island. We learned a ton about trees, land formations, the history of the island, etc. Mark was also a great source on for beach recommendations, hiking trails and what else we had to see on the island. When we landed (VERY smooth flight-I get carsick easily and had no problem) everyone in our party agreed it was worth the Splurge.
We took a cruise to Hawaii a couple years ago and contacted Blue Hawaiian Helicopters via the Internet from our cruise ship to pre book a helicopter tour of the island. They were fully booked but emailed us a day later with a cancelation at a perfect time in the morning of our arrival to the island. The location is a 5 minute walk from the dock. We got to shop at a little mall across the street from Blue Hawaiian offices. A bus took us to the heliport. And then the tour. You have not seen the Hawaiian islands until you see them via helicopter. I could do that over and over. The helicopter was huge and new. The staff were professional and safety oriented at all times. Al in all- we loved it-awsome-must do
I have learned that I love helicopter rides and this one did not disappoint. The views of the island are spectacular and the pilot was informative. Spend the extra money for the video, it's nice to watch it again.
Awesome views knowledgeable and informative pilot thanks Brody for a wonderful experience and sharing your homeland with us
FANTASTIC!!Every employee was top notch. The pilot was excellent(Geoffrey). I will recommend your company to all my friends!!
My wife was uneasy before hand, but we both agree this was the highlight of our trip to Kauai. We got a whole new perspective on the island. It was a thrill going into the dead end canyons on the Na Poli coast and the volcano. Miguel was our pilot and did a great job getting everyone involved. we lucked out and got the front seats. We will remember this experience all our lives.
Our first copter tour ever! We knew we wanted the best, so Blue Hawaiian was our only choice. We had a morning flight over a beautifully clear Kauai. Our pilot and guide was super. Flying close to falls, landslides, cliffs... not scary at all. Within a few seconds from the start of the flight, we were at ease and thrilled. Gorgeous views make this island the best, in my opinion. Just remember to wear dark, plain clothes. The woman seated in the front seat at the door had a black and white print shirt that reflected badly in the windows, making some views less exciting (and my photos more of her print than the view!) Well worth the money.
What a great way to tour the north Kohala area on the big island of Hawaii. Great flight from Waikoloa, over the Parker Ranch and along the northeastern side of the island. Smooth sailing aboard this comfortable and relatively quiet helicopter. Wonderful views flying up and down the canyons. Beautiful views of the many waterfalls and the lush landscape. No whales sited today, but the coastline was a sight to behold with the waves crashing on the rocky coast with the lush vegetation covered mountains as a back drop. Not even the thin layer of VOG (smoke and gases from the volcanoes) could hide the beauty. We would however suggest keeping an eye toward the VOG conditions as it does produce a haze that can reduce visibility. All-in-all great service, lots of opportunity for questions during the flight and just a terrific over-all experience. Thanks to Dale and the entire crew. We highly recommend Blue Hawaii Helicopters.
My family and I took the big island spectacular and really enjoyed it. It's a great way to see the island in a short period of time. You get up close on the volcano and several amazing waterfalls. The chopper we were in sat 6 passengers plus the pilot comfortably, but be forewarned, oversized people will be crowded. I'm 6 feet tall and was fine, but if you are 6'2" or taller, you'll have a problem.
Top notch operation. Excellent helicopters, pilots with the most experience and attention to safety and enjoyment. Eric was our pilot as we explored the diversity of Hawaii. As an added touch, he had a soundtrack of soft music that changed with the scenery or activity. Headphones allow the pilot to communicate with the passengers and listen to a soft soundtrack. We toured the arid volcanic area with amazing views of the activity. Eric had great knowledge and we were able to ask questions along the tour. We saw the changes in landscape, explored green valleys, toured the rugged coast, saw migrating whales, witnessed how the people and agriculture have changed over time Highly recommend as a splendid tour to get an overview of the Big Island, the diversity of the landscape, and it's history.
There's only one way to see Ohau....and this is it. Thank you for an amazing experience. Julie, our pilot, was friendly, professional and knowledgable. Would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Hawaii.
Thank you Captain Brad for an amazing flight and experience. Words fail to describe the scenery and beauty of the island. Captain Brad's flight was smooth and so enjoyable, thanks for a memorable tour.
This was our first helicopter ride and it was amazing. I'm glad we didn't miss this experience. Its a beautiful way to see Kauai. Blue Hawaiian helicopters are the best! Our pilot, Brad, was very informative. We got to fly through Waimea Canyon and up close to the Na Pali coast. We even saw whales. It was such a great experience. Make sure you buy the blu-Ray of your trip. We just watched it and the cameras on the copter capture all the scenery. The blu Ray helped us relive this great experience. It was expensive but totally worth it
