My husband and I flew on a 1 hour trip with Trevor on helicopter KQ on January 4, 2015. This was an amazing experience, exceeding our expectations in many ways. A helicopter tour is the only way to experience some parts of Kauai including the inaccessible arts of the Na Pali Coast. Furthermore, hovering in Kalalau Valley, Waimea Canyon, or Wai’ale’ale Crater is unlike the experience you get from an overlook of Waimea or Kalalau or on a hike to any of these places. Trevor is an excellent pilot and guide. He is extremely professional and despite my being worried in advance about helicopter safety, I had no fear during the flight, which was absolutely delightful. Trevor pointed out all the sights and flew the helicopter so we all had good views. Helicopter KQ is, as one of my friend’s commented on its picture, “a vey cute vehicle,” and provided a comfortable ride. There is quite e bit of discussion in reviews of window vs. non-window seats and doors-off vs doors on. I come down firmly on the doors-on side, since I hate being cold and value the experience first and foremost. I had the right window and my husband got stuck in the middle. All seats deliver a wonderful view/experience. For photo purposes we agreed in advance to share my window- he got turns putting his camera to the window. Despite being an avid photographer, my perspective is that you should go on this tour for the amazing experience and photographs are secondary. Realistically, regardless of your seat, there is a huge amount of luck involved as to which pictures have reflections. Almost all my pictures of Waimea Canyon have no reflection, but most of my Na Pali pictures have some reflection (although I certain got some decent ones). It has to do with a combination of sun position and seating. One unique feature of Blue Hawaiian tours is that they offer a video of your actual flight, taken mostly with cameras outside the helicopter for excellent views (and a fiew internal shots of you). It is very reasonable priced and I highly recommend it. It lets you relive the flight with friends (and if you are obsessive about getting place name right on your photos it really helps with that). We had actually flown on a Kauai helicopter tour when in Hawaii on a cruise in 1983, and had wonderful memories. On this trip we planned to take a boat trip instead, but that was cancelled (once completely and several times the Na Pali part) due to high seas (it is very common for the Na Pali part of a boat trip to be cancelled in winter). So at the very end of our visit we booked the Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour and are overjoyed we did. It was the high point of the trip.

This was my 3rd trip to Kauai ut my first time on the helicopter tour. I really wish I would have done it sooner!

The 2 hr island tour with Ian is not to be missed! Seriously worth the time and money! Will see unbelievable scenery - hot lava/volcanos and parts of the island only seen by helicopter. Ian is the best pilot and tour guide so be sure and ask for him.

Amazing tour with Toshi as our pilot, we went by the volcano, saw hot lava flowing, rain forest and amazing waterfalls, will definitely recommend Blue HawaiianHelicopters.

Words can not come close. We left on time. Everything was well organized and we felt completely safe. Toshi was an amazing pilot which made the sight seeing tour even better.

Loren was the greatest! The best time in Hawaii thus far for my 10 year old son and myself. He went above and beyond the call of duty. Thank you again for quality service!!!

The staff members were very friendly and reassuring. As we were given our emergency life vests, we were told "no worries." The instructions were clear and we were safely seated in the modern helicopter. Julie was an excellent pilot with great knowledge of the island. She had great skills guiding us through the mountains on the windward side and right up to the Angel Falls. We all had a wonderful time. When we are blessed to travel to another island, we would not consider flying with any other company. Blue Hawaiian is now our helicopter company. There is a company flying from our hotel on the North Shore, but it was still worth the 1:15 drive to fly with Blue Hawaiian.

We took a tour of Kauai via Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. Our pilot was great..I am hoping they all are. He was very knowledagble, funny and interesting. We covered the entire island and if there was a place you wanted to get in a little closer to he had no problems showing you. Yes, it was pricey but worth the hour tour of the island. And you can buy the video of your specific tour when finished! The company itself is very organized, professional and friendly. We had a comfort level as soon as we arrived. Enjoy!

Magnificent excursion; saw this "Jurassic Park" island in a one-of-a-kind way! pilot Geoffrey was fantastic; felt very safe at all times!

Had an amazing tour with Dale. He is an excellent pilot and did not stop until we saw lava and all of the falls possible! It is the only way to see that part of the island. Highly recommended. If you get airsickness, try to take something but don't miss the tour! Worth every single penny.

Excellent trip. For less than $30 get the cd or sd they make of your trip and then you don't have to worry about the photos and can just enjoy the view. Remember though that they record everything that is said during the flight. Pilot very experienced and knowledgable.

Definitely worth the expense, time, and effort. First trips were grounded due to weather, third try finally went, our pilot was extraordinary, providing a humorous narrative while navigating around the active volcano. Saw the lava popping and moving, active flows in the blackened landscape around the volcano. Must have seen 200 or more waterfalls on the island, black sand beaches, absolutely beautiful scenery. Only objection is to the $40 fee to purchase recording of our personal trip. At the prices paid it should be free or half that amount. SUGGESTION to visitors: Wear dark, unpatterned clothing that won't reflect off of windows when flying, no hats, purses, bags allowed on helicopter.

Our first helicopter ride, and we could not be more impressed. Friendly pilot, comfortable helicopters, good communication, and thoroughly professional. We chose the Maui Island flight, and it was good. The weather meant a change in itinerary, but all went smoothly and we are thoroughly happy with the entire event.

We have been on 3 helicopter tours in the past, so cannot say that we are experts. However, based on our limited experience, Blue Hawaiian is the best company. They were not the company promoted by our resort and they cost slightly more. However, we asked a couple of locals and were told that this company was the best. We have to agree. Firstly, we looked at the helicopters used by the other companies (they all fly from essentially the same place at Lihue airport). The Blue Hawaiian ones were by far the best. After the flight, we got to see our video before we purchased it - and the quality was excellent. Plus, it was on a flash drive. In the past, when we purchased a video from another company (no opportunity to preview), it was more expensive, it was not in computer-readable format and the quality was poor. Our pilot (Mark) was wonderful - friendly but very professional. It was a beautiful sunny day, which certainly helped, but we had beautiful views of the entire island. This is especially important for the interior and the Napoli coast, which are difficult areas to see much of otherwise. In the past, we took a boar ride along the Napoli coast and have driven most every road on the island but we never saw Kauai like this before. Wow! When you visit Kauai, do book a helicopter tour and do book with Blue Hawaiian.
