Felt extremely safe and all staff were very friendly and chatted with us before and after the flight. Brandon, our pilot, was exceptionally knowledgeable and patient with all questions. We were amazed at the scenery from the air, much of which we had already seen on foot, but also places that would not be able to be seen any other ways. Hovering inside the crater which was the birthplace of Kaua'i was a treat beyond imagining! Mahalo!
Blue Hawaiian is a very professional outfit with competent and well-informed pilots. Very safe helicopters - the ride was quite smooth. Weather is a very critical factor in the quality of the experience - for example, on our trip, there was very dense low cloud cover over land, so we spent most of the tour over the ocean with brief forays over land to see some waterfalls. Would really have liked to spend more time in the canyons, over the cliffs etc. Also could not visit Mt. Wai'ale'ale (which was billed as the highlight of the tour) due to the weather. I think the company should reschedule or offer a second tour at 50% discount when the cloud cover is so dense, as it really detracts from the tour. Sitting on the left side is not so great since most of the time, you are over ocean with the land on the right, but the pilot was helpful and when we did go over land, he turned the helicopter around to ensure good views from the left as well.
Great way to see the island. The crew was very professional and the pilot was very friendly and personable. The flight was very smooth. Went with a very large group of people and they were able to accommodate the group very well.
We took a helicopter tour through Blue Hawaiian Helicopters on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai. It was an amazing experience. The Helicopters are extremely well cared for and replaced every couple of years. Our pilot, Jason was excellent. He narrated our tour exceptionally well. The views cannot be re-created. This was a wonderful experience and worth the $500 it cost for my husband and I!!!
We are really glad we took this tour which took us around the Island. We would do it again only on another Island. Our pilot Jonathan was very knowledgeable. We were a little scared before we went but there is nothing to be afraid of. I hate heights but this did not bother me at all. Really everyone has to try it at least once in there lifetime.
I recently went on a tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and they were amazing! We got rained out our first try but they were focusing on safety and the fact that you couldn't see anything, which I appreciate. They re-booked us for later that day and we went up with our great pilot Zach. We saw so many cool things and the view from the helicopter was amazing. We learned about the island and got to see some really cool things like the lava. I would absolutely go back!
We took the 45-min island tour and it was worth every penny. You can only see so much from driving around the island. Johnathan was our pilot and he pointed out spots to see along the way. I would highly recommend doing this, and would do it again and again! Thanks Blue Hawaiian!
The Island has so many beautiful things to see on the ground, but from the air it is awesome. We enjoyed it so much that we would have liked a little longer flight! Don't bother spending the $25 for the movie of your flight, just take a really good camera and wear dark clothes to help avoid glare. Our pilot was great and pointed out many points of interest along the way. We highly recommend this tour and be sure to fly Blue Hawaiian!
Julie took us on an amazing trip over Oahu, what a fantastic way to see the island! It was also the best way to see Pearl Harbor in our opinion. If you're prone to motion sickness, take something before you go. Also, if you're coming from Waikiki, they will pick you up and bring you back to your resort. Great service and it was worth the money, we'll definitely use the company again on other islands.
Our pilot Julie was excellent very skilled and excellent commentary too. We did this tour on our last full day having already toured by bus and hire car and this finished it off wonderfully. From the air you see everything so clearly and are able to get a feel for the whole island at once. Its not cheap but honestly is worth every penny. The helicopter is super modern and you get a unobstructed view from every seat. The pilot also turns the helicopter around so no-one misses anything. You can talk to the pilot at anytime and she was just ace! We got a great DVD too of the entire trip (optional at $25) The only negative was I would have liked to be picked up at our hotel in a transport that had had Blue hawaiian helicopters all over it so everyone knew and also knew why we were smiling so much when we got back!!!! Oh and wear only dark clothing so they dont reflect on your photos or other peoples photos
So glad we opted for this tour! It was awesome! This is a first rate company. I was very impressed with the professioalism of the staff and pilot. The tour takes you over spots you would never see otherwise. You can also buy a DVD of your tour at the end. These are the guys to go with if you are planning a helicopter tour!
I was really glad we did this. We spend most of our vacation exploring Waikiki, so it was incredible to get out and see an aerial view of the entire island. Breath-taking sights. They were able to accommodate us last minute during the busy New Year tourist weekend. They arranged transportation to and from our hotel, and I felt very safe during the tour. Also i didn't get motion sick, which is something I was really worried about.
During our visit to the Hawaiian Islands, we spent 5 days in Oahu and then boarded a 7-day cruise which visited Maui, the Big Island and Kauai. One thing we wanted to do on any of these islands was take a Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour - however we couldn't decide which island, there were a few options, but we finally decided to go to Hilo (Big Island) and take the Circle of Fire and Waterfalls tour on the Eco-Star series helicopter - this was the highlight of my 2 week trip. This 50 minute tour flies over the famous Kilauea volcano, which has been continuously erupting since 1983. We saw black sand beaches, tropical rain forests, lovely waterfalls and the piece de resistence was seeing red hot lava activity at the Puu o o vent. Our pilot (Jeremy) was very skilled with navigating the chopper and knowledgable and provided excellent narration of the crater and the surrounding areas of Hilo. I would definitely take another Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour they are highly recommended by others and the most reputable on the islands - enjoy your experience!
My fiance bought this as a suprise for my birthday that i was celebrating whilst on holiday. Big thumbs up to him,i absolutely love it!!!! You're given a safety brief and as you are not allowed any bags on the helicopter they have a safe that you can leave your valuables. You are allocated your seats, we were sat on in the back, but no matter where you sit you have the most amazing views! You had a little microphone so you can communicate with the pilot and the others on your flight. Our pilot was Johnathon. He was so informative and knowledgable. Answered all the questions people asked him and made sure that if there was a point of interest or something that we were talking about was pointed out and made sure that everyone had a good view. We flew over places like diamond head, chinamans hat, up to the North Shore, over the pineapple plantation and over pearl harbour. We bought the dvd of our flight, which is recorded inside the helicopter and out which was $25. I can't say enough about this experience, it was brilliant!!! It's definately a great way to see and learn about the island.
We added this as a something special we would do in Hawaii and so glad we did. We chose the Eco-Star helicopter (7 seater) - as website states : more personal space, first-class individual seats, and expansive glass for exceptional visibility. This is the world's newest and most expensive model of touring helicopter. Julie was our pilot - a complete angel in the sky and so considerate to ensure all passengers get a view of everything (left and right views). In the previous week we had hired a car for 2 days and taken advantage of seeing much of the North shore and West side beaches. Also climbed Diamond Head and visited Pearl Harbour. Seeing the same from the sky in this amazing 45 minute flight recapped and gave a completely different perspective of Hawaii. Wonderful views with a great photo opportunity.
