Awesome helicopter tour - def. the best one on this island, comfortable seats, really big and roomy - great pilot from switzerland! despite the rain, up on the northshore, it was clearing up and we didn't miss out on anything to see! we even got to see the hidden waterfall on the eastside and the big waves on the northshore! thanks so much for this great opportunity!
Booked via web site http://www.bluehawaiian.com/ Tour May 2011 ($205pp) We were picked up from the hotel at the arranged time and taken to the airport for a short safety briefing before the flight. The Eco Star Helicopter was surprisingly very smooth and comfortable. We had six people on board and if they are all couples at least one of you will get a window seat and some wonderful photos. I was in an inside seat and although having a good view it was not ideal for photo’s. The flight took about 50 minutes and we went along the north coast, past waterfalls, valleys, etc, then over the dole pineapple plantation and back over Pearl Harbour. The pilot was very informative and entertaining. Overall, this was one of the highlights of our trip and I would recommend it to everyone as great way to see this beautiful island. The whole organisation was very professional and at no time did we feel unsafe. A special mention to the shuttle driver who was happy to drop us at the pick up point for our next tour instead of at our hotel as arranged.
This is without a doubt one of the greatest things, if not the greatest thing, you can do on the Island. It is pricey, but worth every penny!!! Try to get yourself in the front seat for an even better view. Although the base the seating upon weight. Also buy the DVD of your trip over the island too. It is not that much more, and I love sitting back at home, drinking a beer and flying over Hawaii again and again.
Excellent ride with informative commentary. Enjoyed the personal stories along the way in relation to the Island. the Pilot was a great flier and handled the craft expertly
Over 70 per cent of Kauai is not accessible by vehicle or on foot; so, this is absolutely a fantastic way to see the entire island! At a cost of around $230 per person, you will not be disappointed! From the coast to one of the rainiest spots on earth there is so much more to Kauai than the beaches and tourist attractions. The Napali coast, the canyons, mountains and caverns are all spectacular to see from a helicopter that seems to float above the island. Blue Hawaiian is a first class operation with experienced and knowledgeable pilots! You can even purchase a DVD of your personal trip for $25. It was well worth our time and the expense.
The Blue Hawaii shuttle picked us up at the cruise ship dock right on time. The driver was informative of the area and gave us a mini tour on the way to the airport. We arrived in about ten minutes and found the business operation was clean, professional and efficient. After a comprehensive safety briefing we we boarded in a choreographed manner that stressed safety and efficiency. The pilot was a consummate professional who provided us with a breathtaking tour of the island, including making sure that everyone on board was put into a position for pictures of the individual sights. He even took us lower after spotting whales breaching so that we could take a few minutes watching. This is a first rate outfit and well worth the money!
This was absolutely the best! We enjoyed the flight, thanks to our pilot Barrett. If you don't take the opportunity to see the island this way, you are missing a spectacular adventure. Save your money up and don't pass up this opportunity.
A fantastic experience, and the highlight of our trip, extremely worthwhile. Vince our pilot was great, and very knowledgeable about the island. Highly recommended.
If your limited on what activities you can do, you must take a flight on Blue Hawaiian!! Jeoff our pilot was very knowledgable and friendly. Seeing the island from above was amazing. It was raining on the day of our flight so I called in the morning to check if we were still flying and we were. When we got to the airport the rain had stopped. On the flight it did rain a few times but quickly stopped and it did not diminish our experience. We had a clear view and spectacular sites. We felt safe, the helicopter was clean and it was easy to hear the pilot and ask questions during the flight. The terminal was brand new, had very clean bathrooms, lockers to store your personal belongings, a nice selection of shirts and sweaters, etc and large flat screens to pre view your recorded flight. We will revisit with Blue Hawaiian on our next trip!!
We decided to splurge and spend the big bucks for a helicopter tour of the island. It was one of the highlights of our week in Kauai. You see the entire island including many things otherwise inaccessible. It also gave us a great preview of places that we decided to visit on the ground. You will not be disappointed.
We used this helicopter company when we took a helicopter flight on Big Island and enjoyed it so much we decided to try this company again on Kauai. We were not disappointed in our 55 minute tour and had a fabulous time. We took off from the heli pad in the ECO-star through the Hanapepe Valley to the Waimea Canyon which was spectacular and then onto the Na Pali Coast and the Bali Hai Cliffs. We got a good overview of the whole island with an excellent narration from the pilot. This flight was superb and I would highly recommend it.
This was our 5th flight with Blue Hawaiian, (3 on the Big island, 1 on Maui, and this one on Oahu) and everyone of the flights have been GREAT. We always book on line at the Blue Hawaiian Helicopters website( you will save money and can also check out some great professional pics and videos). Our pilot, Julie, was fantastic and she did a great job on the narration of the island features and was a smooth flight over all. It is about a 55 min flight and does take you over the Arizona Memorial. You are also able to ask questions to the pilot via a microphone. They also film the entire trip with 4 different camera views; 3 outside and one in the cabin. You will be able to purchase the video for $25.00 after your flight (highly recommended). You can take your camera/video camera for pics, but do wear darker colored clothing to prevent reflections.
We took the Big Island Spectacular tour. The highlight of the flight was looking into the lava lake at the Pu'u O'o eruption vent! We consider this tour a MUST DO activity!
I won't go on and on about how incredible it is to see Oahu from the air because I can't say anything that hasn't been said before. But it certainly is incredible (photos here: http://bit.ly/gIiWEX). What I do want to share is our experience with Blue Hawaiian. The day we were supposed to have our tour was overcast, and the company called me to let me know it was possible they wouldn't go out. The pilots gave the ok, however, so we were picked up by the shuttle. On our way there, it clouded over, and our trip was canceled. Our shuttle driver offered to drop us off in downtown Honolulu or back at our hotel, our choice, and gave us advice regarding when to reschedule (he suggested morning rather than afternoon). We were impressed with his disposition to improve what could have felt like a wasted morning. We were even more impressed when we discovered in conversation that he was the manager of the company driving the shuttle because the normal driver was out sick. It's always nice when the big bosses aren't "above" doing more basic tasks to fulfill their duties to a customer. When we eventually did have our tour, customer service continued in the same vein. We would happily tour with them on another island in the future.
We had an amazing experience with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters in Kauai! First off the operation is truly exceptional and professional. These people know what they are doing and you feel safe the entire time. I am afraid of heights, but I did not feel uncomfortable at all- not even one time. I did research beforehand and their helicopters really are the best on the island, and this was confirmed when we actually did the tour. Everyone has a great view (and I was in the back middle seat) and the helicopter noise was at a minimum. Our pilot, Vince, was also exceptional, charismatic and a true professional. He made the trip so enjoyable for us as a pilot and tour guide sharing great information, getting us amazing views and also acknowledging our honeymoon. After the tour you can purchase an optional DVD of the flight and we did, plus we also got a high definition DVD “generic tour” of all the islands of Hawaii they provide- which is highly informative and also a great keepsake. Everything about this tour, company and our experience was true class. Highly recommended. A must do while visiting Kauai.
