Flew with Marty on the 28th of October and had a great time! What a great way of seeing the island that you a visiting. This was our 2nd time flying with Blue Hawaiian (flew in Oahu in December of 2012) Marty was very knowledgeable about the area, the history and the people of the island….(or pulled off a great sham (jk) and had a great sense of humor. Experience last about an hour and a half beginning with preflight instruction thru the 45 minute flight. Great time, extremely qualified and professional, from the staff to their equipment all the way down to their building – highly recommend the trip with Blue Hawaiian – well worth every penny. PS make sure you wear dark color so you don’t see your reflection in your pictures!
Well worth a trip. Friendly staff and a pilot who knew all about the island... A must do experience and we were glad we picked this company we couldn't fault the service at all
Get the birds eye view of one of the prettiest islands in all if Hawaii! Our pilot was very informative and went so close to the sides of the cliffs and caves. Truly an axing experience. Very smooth ride in the helicopter! Would highly recommend this for explorers and those wanting to view the other 90% of the beautiful Kauai island.
If you haven't been to Kauai, you should absolutely plan a helicopter trip on your first visit. To say that the views were amazing would be the understatement of a lifetime! We went on a couples trip and now I can't wait to go back with my kids, and I will definitely be taking them on a helicopter tour. I did some research ahead of time, and while Blue Hawaii was one of the few at the top of the list, we actually went with it because our resort gave us a deal on it. It was pricier than a couple of the other companies, but when we got to the airport and drove by a number of the other helicopter operations, Blue Hawaii was by far and away the most professional looking company there, which was a good thing for my husband because as the professional nature of the operation eased his nerves a little. (A number of the other operations worked out of a tent or even were just a guy sitting by a helicopter.). The guide was great, and like the other reviews stated, he did a great job of getting good photo ops for everyone on the flight, regardless of where they were sitting. We bought the DVD of our flight, which was actually a pretty good bargain for such a personalized souvenir (around $25). A couple of considerations when you take the trip.... It rains often in Kauai, so it is very hard to plan the trip according to which days it will be nice during your stay. However, it can be raining on one side and very sunny on the other side at the same time, so many flights hit rain for a little bit, don't worry if you go up and it is raining at some point (which also makes me somewhat skeptical of the "open door" helicopter flights that other companies offer on Kauai). Also, be sure to wear darker, non-shiny clothes, as they definitely reflect less off the windows when you are taking pictures. When we go again, we will either go with Blue Hawaii, or there is another trip where you actually get out of the helicopter at the bottom of Jurassic Falls and walk around for a bit, which was a little more expensive, but seems interesting. I would definitely recommend Blue Hawaii to anyone looking for a helicopter trip, though! Have fun!
What an amazing adventure! First time in a helicopter and I wasn't scared. The moment you clear the airport, the views are breathtaking. Our pilot Marty was very friendly and knowledgable. I would say it is the only way to get the feel of Kauai since a lot of it is unreachable. You have an option to buy the video of your flight, which we did. Spectacular tour and well worth the money.
My family and I decided to take a tour, and Blue Hawaiian was recommended by some family friends and a nearby hotel. The establishment is really professional, unlike some of the other operators around. The price was a bit higher, but we figured Helicopter tours are not something to skimp on. We were sure glad we didn't! Very comfortable seats, and great view out of their windows. The pilot even had some of the crew on the ground wipe all the windows and cameras so we had a clear view, and asked us to make sure we didn't have any obstructions on our sides of the chopper before taking off. There are so many waterfalls to see that we didn't know about, and seeing Waimea Canyon from the air was unreal. The Napali Coast was pretty amazing, and I don't think it would look any better without spending a few days hiking there. We were so close to the water we could see whales! The clouds and rain moved around the islands and canyons very quickly, so we got great views of the canyon before rains moved in and waited to see some of the other parts of the island until the clouds moved out. Our pilot was really knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions during the tour with great abilities. We were happy that the whole tour was recorded and bought the DVD after. The quality while viewing the preview in the office was not as good as the finished product on our BluRay player. Such an amazing experience, I was glad I brought my camera and GoPro as well! Money well spent!
If there's one thing to do in Hawaii it should be a helicopter tour! Wow what views! Brandon was our pilot and he was funny, friendly, informative - would highly recommend Blue Hawaiian helicopters. And they offer an option to purchase a DVD of your actual flight video and recording for only $25.
Joffrey (Geoffrey) was our pilot and he was awesome. Family loved the vistas and whale spotting and would highly recommend this if you are in Kauai.
I admit, I was a little hesitant to do a helicopter tour on our honeymoon... Not only am I a giant chicken, but I was struggling to justify the cost for a 1 hour activity. Within about 1.5 seconds of liftoff, every hesitation flew out the window and I found myself wishing we could do it again 50 minutes later as soon as we landed! From the moment I booked (and had to call to switch to a different island) to the phone calls confirming in the weeks/days ahead, to the second we checked in, the Blue Hawaiian staff was professional, courteous, and informative. They made sure we knew exactly what to expect, right down to where we would sit in the heli to what we should wear and why. Once we checked in and made it through the brief safety video, it was only a few minutes until our heli landed in front of us and we were being buckled in. And then real excitement began. The views of Kauai are once-in-a-lifetime! We actually killed a camera battery and had to switch to our backup because we were taking so many photos. Our pilot was extremely informative about the island and made sure you had a great view of everything no matter your seat. When people ask us what our favorite part of our 2 weeks in Hawaii was, we both immediately say our tour with Blue Hawaii - and we bought the DVD of our flight so that we can relive whenever we want! Highly recommend for all ages, even if you're a big chicken like me!
I loved the ride, the service was great, the pilot was awesome, everything was great except one thing, they tell you to wear dark clothes due to reflection and better for pictures, if someone is so inconsiderate to not listen then they need to provide dark shirts or not allow you on with light colored clothes because 85 percent of my pictures i took on this ride were ruined because someone was too rude to not listen. so EVERYONE WEAR DARK CLOTHES OR IT WILL RUIN PICTURES OF THE ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES IN THE WORLD. no i am not bitter at all. paid almost 600.00 and have no pix at all. they did give me a free 25.00 video of the flight but i wanted pix and it was ruined due to that
Jaw-dropping, amazing views of the island. Our pilot, Joffrey, was a consummate pro who made us feel totally comfortable.
I was very apprehensive about taking a helicopter ride for two reasons, the cost and just riding in a helicopter! My family convinced me that we should all do it, and I'm sure glad they did. Marty was our pilot, and he was fantastic, very informative and lots of fun...a real pro! The take off was so smooth and easy, and there were no sharp movements at all. I loved it. He made sure that everyone got a good view of things he was pointing out, such as "Jurassic Falls", as he lowered and slowly rotated the copter. I had read if you want to spend money on a helicopter tour in Hawaii, Kauai was the place to do it because so much of the island is inaccessible. So true! Yes, it's a bit pricey, but it was worth it. So glad we did it and glad we chose Blue Hawaiian. Their helicopters are big and comfortable. They take 6 people....2 up front, and 4 in the back. Do it!!
A helicopter tour of Kauai is worth every penny. The views were amazing. Our pilot Brad is a rookie compared to the pilot of the copter other family members rode with. Both rides went to the same sites, but the patter of the pilot/guide was different for each group. We saw more whale breaches while the other copter heard more about some of the natural landmarks. Both pilots were very accommodating and tried to get everyone on board active in the conversations. I was not sure it was going to be worth the money when we booked this tour, but I am glad we did and we bought the DVD to show everyone what we got to do.
Our pilot Barrett is a local and knew every inch of the vistas we were seeing. He showed us where he parks and treks in for hiking. The waterfalls were great. Flying along the coast and into and over craters were breath-taking. Saw the rainbow canyon at the same time.
What an amazing way to cap off our holiday in Hawaii! I had always wanted to go to Hawaii and was really looking forward to this helicopter tour; both bucket list items. Our choice couldn't have been better. I don't know what I can add to all the other accolades given by previous reviewers, except to agree with the "excellents". There was nothing negative. Our pilot, Michael, provided the crowning touch. We were celebrating my 70th birthday and his personal touch just added to the thrill of the ride. The helicopters are quiet and the view out the large windows magnificent. There was almost no reflection in my photos. We carried on a great conversation with Michael throughout. I'm extremely happy we purchased the videos. One DVD was taken during our tour so we can see and hear everything again that we experienced during the flight. The Blu-Ray is a beautiful presentation of the islands from the air. Thanks Blue Hawaiian and particularly Michael!!
