Blue Hawaiian Heaven
Kauai - Lihue

THE way to see beautiful Kauai! Eye-watering, jaw-dropping, stunning. Feel completely secure with pilot Vince, given his many years as an Army helicopter instructor. Bose headphones clearly provide Vince's commentaries and music fitted to the magnificent vistas you take in. Waterfalls, canyon fly-ins, rainbows...you won't believe the beauty. $$$$$ but completely worth it. Don't be discouraged if your flight gets cancelled due to weather. Ours was. We re-schedules for following morning, which was gloriously clear. Full refunds should you cancel due to weather. DO: -figure about a 2-hour check-in to completion commitment -plan to check your purses, bags, etc, into their lockers. Only cameras permitted in the helicopter

Helicopter Tour of Kawa'i
Kauai - Lihue

Very beautiful tour. The colors were spectacular even without the sun. Would try again on a sunny day if I ever return to your island.

See Kauai from the sky!
Kauai - Lihue

First things first - this is an expensive indulgence. $239 per per adds up pretty quick. However, if you can afford it, you should do it. The beauty and diversity of what you'll see are indescribable. The pilot will narrate the trip so make sure to be part of the conversation (you have a microphone to talk into). That way when you buy the DVD, and you will buy the DVD, it will be more meaningful.

Kauai from the air
Kauai - Lihue

This was the second time we have taken a helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian. Although all the helicopter tours on Kauai follow the same route, we have found the staff at Blue Hawaiian to be pleasant and anxious to help. The helicopters are comfortable and the have large windows to see. Our pilot, Scott, did a great job of describing where we were and what we were seeing. He made sure the people on both sides of the helicopter could see the grand spectacle that is Kauai from the air. We would recommend that anyone visiting Kauai take a helicopter tour and Blue Hawaiian is the way to go.

Great way to see the island but you may not get window seat
Kauai - Lihue

The Hawaiian island of Kauai is quite small but it is impossible to see it all by car because of the topography. We decided to take a helicopter tour to give ourselves the opportunity to view the island from the air. We chose Blue Hawaiian based on their own internet advertising as well as comments here. The weather on our trip was a little showery but it didn't affect the enjoyment of the tour. We only experienced a little rain on the windscreen a couple of times. Our pilot, Brandon, was skilful enough to fly the helicopter while at the same time providing a quite detailed commentary of the various points of interest. And what spectacular viewing there is: the stunning Na Pali cliffs; the beautifully coloured Waimea Canyon and the spectacular Hanalei Bay are just a few of the high points. Riding in a helicopter is not much different from riding in a car - you just have a higher viewpoint! Blue Hawaiian seem to take the safety aspects of this type of service very seriously, so that is a comforting thought. Booking Tip: The seating of passengers in the helicopter is based on body weight. Blue Hawaiian ask you for your weight when you book and they weigh you when you check in. As a larger than average male, I was seated in the middle of the helicopter's fuselage - back row, one passenger to my left and two to my right. This means that access to the windows was compromised, even though it is a large machine. I am a very keen photographer and I was looking forward to taking lots of pictures on my tour. I did take lots of photos, but was not in the optimum position to do so - many were spoiled by reflections and other passengers' heads and arms. Be aware that you may not be allocated a window seat. Perhaps they may allow you to specify a seat (subject to safety factors) if you ask upon booking. They do not tell you about seating until you check in, so factor this information into your thinking about this tour. If I were to do it again, I would ask about seat allocation and see whether a window seat could be available when I booked the tour. Know too that there are also helicopter tours which are "doors off" flights, This would give better viewing and photography access, but you would have to be comfortable to fly with open doors.

Sooooo Glad We Did It!
Kauai - Lihue

Loved it! We flew to Kaui from Oahu for just this tour, and are so glad we did! Thank you, Michael, for your personalized tour and detailed narrative of the island. It was obvious that you love what you are doing! The views are breathtaking, and the ride was very smooth. Getting to talk to the pilot and other passengers using a headset made the trip even more enjoyable. We highly recommend Blue Hawaiian for a quality, exciting experience. 25th Anniversary Couple

Put a smile on my wife's face
Kauai - Lihue

On the other islands, you can get by via renting a car and getting out for walks or hikes. The only way you're going to see everything there is to see of Kauai is via helicopter. (Maybe the locals get a good understanding via their 4wd trucks and greater amount of time there, but for a visitor...) I started the trip sure neither I nor my wife was interested in a chopper ride. After we were there a bit, we realized a chopper was the only way we were going to see a lot of it. (Perhaps a boat cruise along the Napali coast would have been a second choice.) Good modern equipment. Have no doubts about whether the equipment is old. Solid pilots. It's not like an amusement park ride. Its smooth all the way. (About 25 years ago I was an engineer on a helicopter simulator for the DoD.) Good for all, so don't be afraid. Pilot knew the island and how to explain it as a tour guide. He may tire of it, giving a number of tours every day, but you will never know if he does or not. There was a capability for passengers to ask questions, but in our flight people just gaped out the windows and (if they chose) listed to the pilot.

A must do in Kauai
Kauai - Lihue

My wife and I did the helicopter tour in Kauai. The staff was friendly and our pilot Barret was excellent. He was funny and kept telling us interesting facts about the island as we passed things along the way. While on the tour we spotted whales and he even lowered the helicopter so we could all get a better view and snap pictures. Can't wait to book with this company when we visit the other islands.

Beautiful!!
Kauai - Lihue

This tour was by far the best activity we have ever done. The pilot, Barrett, was informative and nice. The scenery was breathtaking and indescribable. Seeing Kauai by helicopter is a must and Blue Hawaii is the way to do it. The staff was very nice and organized. It was well worth the price.

Book online!
Kauai - Lihue

We know Blue Hawaiian from a Big Island flight, but the flight over Kuai was much more spectacular. The island is really beautiful and you see most parts only from above. The flight was safe and well organized. We booked online in advanced and saved money.

The perfect way to see the island of Kauai
Kauai - Lihue

I knew we wanted to take a helicopter tour and read many reviews before settling on Blue Hawaiian. We found them to be very professional and it was an excellent tour. Take a look at the 3D views of the inside of the helicopters to see the differences. The Eco-Star helicopter looked like it had the best views from every seat. My daughter & I were in the front and husband & son in the back and we all had great views. Our tour guide Barrett did a great job of narrating the tour and made sure we all had good views of all the sites. They also video tape every tour & you have the option to purchase at the end at a resonable price (I think $25).

Wow, what an experience!
Kauai - Lihue

We flew with Nathan who was a very friendly and knowledgeable pilot. The flight was stunning, breathtaking in fact. Everything was very professional and efficient, from the safety briefing to the bus journey and getting on and off the helicopter. An absolutely Must Do to really see and appreciate this incredible island. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Absolutely Breathtaking
Kauai - Lihue

There really is no better way to see Kauai then from a helicopter. Especially since there is so much of Kauai that you can only see from up above. Blue Hawaiian was safe, organized, and had the nicest helicopters compared to the other company helicopters. I thought it was so amazing. The pilot (also the tour guide) was knowledgeable, funny, and interactive throughout the entire 55 minute trip. The helicopter tour really takes you all over the island seeing the Na Pali Costline, the north shore, rainforests, the canyon, and many many waterfalls. I recommend it for everyone!!

It is so expensive but an absolute must do in Kauai!
Kauai - Lihue

You will question your decision to pay this kind of money for a one hour activity - but this experience is so amazing that you would turn around and do it again! A great deal of Kauai can only be seen by helicopter, and the sights are absolutely breathtaking. We had pilot Nate. He was very professional and took us on a safe and smooth flight. Loved it! The downsides: We had the first flight of the day. Our stated check-in time was 6:45 am. The office doesn't open until 7:00 so we had to sit outside for 15 minutes. The office staff wasn't the friendliest either. Many other reviewers have mentioned that seat assignment has a lot to do with customer satisfaction. It's true - if you have the back left seat you are not going to have the same experience as someone with the best seat in right front. There's nothing you can do about it but it is frustrating. Also - please, please, please wear a solid dark shirt for the sake of others on your flight. Someone on our flight wore a bright patterned shirt. Thankfully we could only see it in a few pictures but it does make a difference.

Incredible Bucket List Tour!
Kauai - Lihue

Our helicopter tour of beautiful Kauai was absolutely amazing! Blue Hawaiian is a first class operation and Barrett, our pilot, was incredible. This was a high point of an amazing vacation week. We would highly recommend this not to be missed experience.
