Best activity we did in Hawaii
Kauai - Lihue

I was scared to death to ride in a helicopter, but the pilot made it fun and les frightening. He was extremely well qualified, so I felt safe. Once my fears were put to rest, we took off and saw the island from an amazing point of view. We hovered over waterfalls, flew through canyons, and the helicopter climbed up over ridge for wonderful views of the volcanoes, mountains and ocean. Don't hesitate to go with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. I am so glad I went. I won't forget it.

great way to see the island
Kauai - Lihue

Let me preface this review by saying that we took a helicopter ride over Kauai 12 years ago during our honeymoon and I definitely had motion sickness by the time it was half over. (it wasn't with this company) Pilot was a war veteran and was showing off his skills. Apparently, my stomach did not fully appreciate his expertise. I thought all helicopter rides were like that. I was wrong. Blue Hawaiian Helicopter pilot, Marty, was excellent. I had no problems, no queasiness, no hint of motion sickness whatsoever. I was truly able to enjoy the sights this time around. He held the helicopter steady when lowering toward the canyons and when turning the helicopter around so people on both sides could get a great view of the the coastline, waterfalls, and canyons. A definite plus, was when they were able to squeeze all 7 of us into one helicopter. I had called other vendors, and they told me it was illegal. Being skeptical of this, I did some checking on line regarding the specifics of the helicopter. On independent websites for these helicopters, it is possible to put 6/7 passengers with one pilot, and is weight dependent. (We had two kids, and the other 5 of us run on the smaller to average size.) There is a free locker for you to store your necessities but unnecessary for the ride, i.e. wallet, hats, backpacks. Also, they do run an internet special on line if you book 5 days ahead. However, you can't stack deals. We found gift card specials at Costco on Kauai. We couldn't use both the gift cards and the internet special, so that was a downer, but still, it was a good value. Also, I would have liked to see more of the coast line and beaches. Overall, still a great way of seeing the island without doing any hiking or other strenuous activity. Another plus is the air conditioner. It does get quite cool in there, so bring a light sweater, if you get cold easily. I found it to be perfectly comfortable since I like things on the cooler side. If I were to find myself on Kauai again, I might opt for the longer tour.

Happy daze in Hawaii
Kauai - Lihue

This isn't a cheap attraction! If you’re on a budget - stretch it! Do this flight; even if it is the only thing you spend your money on in Hawaii. You can drink beer and buy tourist T-shirts anywhere in the world but you can’t see landscape like this. This is Jurassic Park revisited and the nasty Raptors can’t get you from the helicopter. If you’re a fan of “Lost”; this is the setting and a dozen other movies too. The flight takes about an hour and it’s a “gob smacker” most of the way. You can't get to the Napali Coast and see it like this. There are no roads in and landing by boat is limited.

Awesome flight!
Kauai - Lihue

Our pilot, Brad, took very good care of us! He has 22 years of piloting experience and knows everything about Kauai. The flight was 50 minutes of amazing! The company seems to be expertly managed. Everyone was pleasant and helpful from check-in to landing. They seem to place a high priority on safety for their passengers, then it's time to have fun! Depending on the weight of the passengers, you will have from 4 to 6 passengers per copter. You will asked for your weight when you book your flight, and weighed when you check in. Seats are assigned according to weight to properly balance the copter. We saw every beautiful spot on Kauai, it seemed: The Na' Pali coast, Waimea Canyon and it's waterfall, other canyons and their waterfalls, Jurassic waterfall, and many other jaw-droppingly beautiful sights. It was expensive, but worth every penny!

Once in a Lifetime Helicopter tour!
Kauai - Lihue

If ever you are going to take a helicopter tour this is the place! I am so sorry I can not remember our pilot's name but a wonderful experience. Great music and great narration! Felt very safe and happy our pilot had many years of experience with helicopter tours! He had a great knowledge base and spoke about everything he could see from the air. His ability to go into the crater and show us a 360 degree view was fabulous! If you can book early do so. It was a last minute decision for us and luckily were able to fit it in. The trip is pricey but well worth it! This Ohio family will never forget it!

Running out of time but want to see the island?
Oahu - Honolulu

This is the best way to see the island if you're short on time and or don't feel like the hassle and stress of renting a car and driving (especially if you're used to driving on the left in a right hand drive car). The free pick up from our Waikiki hotel was great and hassle free (though it was early so we had to wait at the hanger for an hour before our flight). We weren't expecting to see WHALES, what a bonus! Flew right over a pod of about 8 huge whales, some breaching the water too! Might be a good option for the first day of your trip, that would give you an idea of what you might like to do during your stay on the island. Jonathan our pilot was brilliant, very knowledgable, helpful and professional, as was the lady we booked through on the phone. Good for singles, couples or family groups.

Highlight of our vacation this is a must do.
Oahu - Honolulu

Took the Blue Hawaiian morning tour of Oahu. One of the best experiences of my life. Luckily I had the front seat next to the pilot so had a wondeful view of everything. Flew over Diamond Head crater, saw adult and baby humpback whales, close up of the ocean and valleys and Pearl Harbour. All I can say is wow! The helicopters are amazing, the staff are fabulous and our pilot Jonathon was fun and enthuisatic and tools us to see a waterfall at one passenegers request. Awesome value for the price. Would do this again in a heartbeat.

Exceeded our Expectations!
Big Island - Waikoloa

My husband loves geology and was pretty excited about taking the 2-hour Big Island Spectacular tour in the Eco Star. He was not disappointed. I wasn't either, but I didn't have big expectations like he did! It was an expense nevertheless we are glad we splurged. It's something we will remember forever (and we have the DVD in case we do forget!). Another nice bonus was they picked us up from our hotel (the Hilton) in their shuttle so we didn't even have to drive to their location!

Great Experience... AND a bargain
Oahu - Honolulu

From start to finish, our experience with Blue Hawaiian was first rate. As a former military helicopter pilot with over 5000 hrs, I was comforted by the ground operations and the condition of Blue Hawaiian's aircraft and ground crew. Our pilot, Jonathan, was even more impressive. There was no doubt we were in safe hands. We had taken a drive around the island on the day before the flight, and it made the actual flight a little more enjoyable as we were familiar with the geography and could relate the aerial views to what we had already seen from the ground. My only minor complaint was the slightly hazy day we had for the flight which wasn't ideal for photos, but the DVD they prepared made up for that. BTW, I don't know why you would pass on the DVD, especially with the different angles and even inside the helicopter views. The 45 minute flight (which was actually a few minutes longer) seemed way to short, but was beautiful. Especially considering the rest of the prices for food and entertainment in Honolulu, the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour was a bargain. With lunch for two at the Westin in Waikiki going for over $100, it's a no-brainer to add this tour to your itinerary.

Awesome
Kauai - Lihue

Felt very safe. Ground crew, pilots, everyone very professional and well trained. Had some reservations about a helicopter ride in Hawaii as several had told us that it was an unregulated industry there. Don't know if that's a fact and don't know about other agencies, but Blue Hawaiian is great.

Good choice (works well for cruise passengers)
Kauai - Lihue

We arrived in Kauai by cruise ship. Having made the reservation online five days ahead we got a "discount" rate. If you call them they pick you up right at the pier for a ten minute shuttle ride to the airport, very convenient. Their whole set up appears very professional and safety conscious. The ride itself was fantastic..the scenery unbelievably beautiful....and very comfortable. The pilot's narration was great and personally engaging. You'll love it. It's a pricey endeavor but if you can afford it a highlight. They do weigh you when you arrive and post a 260 lbs. limit per seat.

Blue Hawaiia Helicopters Kauai
Kauai - Lihue

The flight was absolutely beautiful, my wife was terrified before the flight at the thought of going up in a helicopter, but once the flight started she absolutely loved every minute.I have a lot of fixed wing time and also was extremely amazed how smooth the ride was , I wasn't expecting that. Barret the pilot was a local and gave a lot of great information on the flight around the Island . The flight was so smooth it nearly felt like I was setting in my recliner at home enjoying panoramic experience at home . Barret thanks for the great tour and you changed my perspective on helicopters, glad we didn't miss it.

Amazing professional experience, highly recommend
Kauai - Lihue

This was an amazing experience. The pilot was professional, friendly and his commentary extremely informative. The scenery is absolutely stunning. The pilot ensured each side of the cabin was given a view of the scenery by circling where necessary. The ground staff were courteous and efficient. I have read some reviewers say they were unfriendly, I would say they took their jobs seriously and did them competently. No complaints on that front from us. This is an expensive tour however we felt it well worth the money. Tip: they figure out seating based on weight so there is no guarantee you will get the front seat. Also, we were the last tour of the day and as such the pilot took us for a little extra look around!

Only way to see the island; not to be missed
Kauai - Lihue

This company & trip were highly recommended & the flight was excellent and informative (despite the drizzle on and off.. it is Kauai). My complaints would come after the flight ended; it felt as if then the staff lost interested and couldn't wait to get back to a new group even though they were hoping we would buy the DVD of our trip. Our flight was delayed due to mechanical problems so we arrived just back in front of another group. Despite our delayed departure, we had to wait until they had seen their film, before ours was played but which time we had lost interest. My advice to the staff; don't switch charm on and off, the punter knows the difference.
