Kauai - Lihue

4.5 stars. OK, first let me say that reviewing this place at 4.5 stars isn't based on extensive experiences with scads of other helicopter outfitters.  I work at a school, I'm po'.  I *wish* I had the cash flow to be jet-setting about (literally) in helicopters in tropical ports-of-call all the time, but Kelly Preston I am not.  Husband and I just felt like we might as well splurge ourselves into debt and partake in what most people told us we simply haaaaad to do: fly over the islands in a chopper.  Boy oh boy, were all those peeps right. We had an amazing time on our Blue Hawaiian tour.  We lucked out and had a gorgeous, clear day to fly.  We also lucked out and got window seats for better views (actually, I'm not sure if it was luck, or the fact that we were giving everyone the stink-eye and hinting we'd throw elbows if necessary -- no, just kidding, we're really good-natured pacifists, I swear).  I'd had horrible visions of us dropping hundreds and hundreds of bones on this experience only to be sandwiched between fat tourists with oversized heads blotting out our view.  Phew! This was really a 5-star *experience* -- Blue Hawaiian was consummately professional and pleasant to deal with.  The pilot we had was wonderful and pointed out all kinds of amazing landmarks, including Wailua Falls from the opening credits of "Fantasy Island" so we could all scream, "Boss!  Da plane!  Da plane!" and pretend like Tattoo was anxiously awaiting our arrival.  Well, I did anyway. It's the incredibly steep price and the fact that you could end up with a less-than-desirable seat that keep me from giving Blue Hawaii a full 5 stars.  Still, I'd recommend this outfit to anyone visiting the islands.

Specular views and must do excursion while in Kauai - great pilot in Vincent, and it's worth the 55 minutes. Bring a camera and Go Pro.

This review will keep in mind the various ways I have seen various parts of the Na Pali coast and several Kauai waterfalls- by foot (by various means, including the 8 mile river-hopping Hanakapi'ai hike), by boat, and by of course by helicopter, all over 4 days. Now, granted that a helicopter really squeezes it all in, and gives you a unique experience, while going by foot really helps you to...appreciate the geography and interact with it...I have to say that the boat trip seemed to be the best value for time/money. The standard helicopter ride, which is already about $200 a person, just wasn't long enough, didn't linger enough or get close enough to details like waterfalls. Still, I am glad I did it. I wouldn't do it again though.   One thing to note is that rain can really affect your trip and it's not something you can predict. The trip before ours was rained out and the trip after ours was rained out (9am and 11am) while we enjoyed nice sunshine. So it's best to have some flexibility so they can rebook you, which they are very good at doing (or so I observed). You should also try your best to try and get the front seats. The two seats in the middle for the Ecostar are somewhat less value. However, if the sun is blazing, you might be grateful for the shade.

STELLAR!  Our helicopter tour was the high point of our Kauai vacation.  It was absolutely awesome.  Little pricey, sure, but you see so many things you'd never get to see otherwise and from a great vantage point.  I took a crap ton of pictures during our flight. We lucked out and it had rain massive amounts all day and cleared up just as we were heading to the center of the island.  the rivers and waterfalls were gushing and when we got to the crater...  AMAZING!  Water was cascading thousands of feet all around us.  Even our pilot was taking pictures at one point because in his 8 or 9 years of giving tours, he'd never seen it like that. Our pilot/guide was funny, entertaining, informative, and did a fantastic job.   Honestly, you should absolutely do a helicopter tour while you are on the island.  And if you do, you would be well served to book with Blue Hawaiian.  They certainly seem like the most established and trusty-worthy of the options.  Very professional outfit all around.

AWESOME! My wife and I took the Kauai tour in the Ecostar 130, and had a great experience! It literally is the only way to see all the splendor that Kauai has to offer. Everything was very organized, the staff at the office was very nice and informative and our pilot Brad was fantastic.  I was a little concerned that they let a couple with a 3 month old on the flight as I was afraid that he would cry the entire time...which almost happened. Luckily his mom got him to conk out within about 5 minutes into the flight. People, this isn't a place for young kids! We popped for the $25 DVD and we've been watching the video in awe of all the cool things that we got to see that we would have never seen without being in a helicopter. The Ecostar heli is really spacious and smooth as silk. It might seem a little expensive when you book it, but trust me, you'll find it was totally worth it when you land. Aloha!

This place is great. Pilot Chris (son of pilot Craig, who looks like Walter White) is great.  Mrs. Tikimark was somewhat nervous about he first helicopter ride, but Chris is so great as both a pilot and a calm, cool, tour guide she was quickly enjoying herself.  Kauai is an amazing place and seeing by helicopter - especially from a great company like Blue Hawaii is something you shouldn't miss.

Such wonderful people!! We were having a problem finding a place that didn't want to charge us a rediculous amount based on our weight. We are a "fluffy" group and these places weigh you and charge you for extra seats. One place wanted to charge us nearly $1000 more!!! We had given up. We heard about Blue Hawaiian and called them up. We spoke with Ginger and she was FABULOUS!! She helped get us on a flight safely AND shared with us that Costco has $100 gift cards for $80!!! Another way to save and experience this amazing trip!! Everyone in the office was so nice and accommodating and our pilot was amazing. So personable, knowledgeable and fun. I loved out experience with this company!!

Our helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian was awesome. We were only on the island for 3 days, so it made the most sense for us to do the tour so we could see the entire island in 55 minutes. Our pilot, Tom, was very knowledgeable  and made us feel comfortable and safe the entire time. He took us inside craters and Waimea canyon and even turned the helicopter around so those sitting on the other side could see and get pictures also. The only negative about our tour was I felt so nauseous after the tour was over. I usually never get motion sickness so I didn't take any medicine before going and I definitely regretted it after. However, my fiance took Dramamine before we left since he always gets sick and he felt fine the entire time. Although this tour is expensive, it's definitely worth it. You get to see everything in just 55 minutes. I would definitely recommend this tour, especially since 75% of Kauai can be seen by helicopter.

Helicopter tour is definitely a must on Kauai! An amazing way to see the island and many parts of the island you otherwise don't have access to. Blue Hawaiian had the lower end of prices and a kamaaiana discount for locals. The only thing I wish I would have known going into it is they don't allow you to have any handles/holders. So my hand is in all of my gopro videos/pictures from the window reflection.

Took a fabulous ride/tour today. Pilot Scott was excellent at describing scenery etc as well as guiding us close to the sights. One big problem was our video system failed so we got no movie as we expected. Was also told that our copter had older/lower quality video anyway. Come on, upgrade your system!  I gave only 4 star rating due to this failure. Still, a wonderful experience, highly recommended.

Spectacular Kauai experience, worth every cent.  Being able to see Na Pali up close and personal, the splendid waterfalls, and flying into the heart of Kauai's dormant volcano is a totally satisfying way to truly see all of Kauai.

It has always been a lifelong dream of mine to ride in a helicopter. Today I was able to do a Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tour in Kauai. It was the highlight of my vacation. The staff was super friendly & professional. Our original flight was rescheduled due to weather & when we flew out today, I realized they cancelled it for our benefit. We wouldn't have been able to see all the amazing sites with all the clouds yesterday. Anyhow, the tour was amazing. I already want to go again. Seeing the island from the sky & having a knowledgeable pilot was outstanding. I recommend this tour to anyone who would like to see Kauai from the sky! Fabulous experience!!!
