Kauai - Lihue

We flew on Kauai with Pilot Jimmy who was absolutely fantastic. The whole experience, from booking to landing was exceptional. This was an expensive excursion for us ($240/person) but totally worth it. We saw places on the island that would be literally impossible to see by any other means than from the sky. The pilot was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Kauai and genuinely wanted us to have a good experience. He delivered. The flight was comfortable and the views were amazing. I highly recommend doing Kauai by helicopter!

Counter help was ignorant, other than that our flight was on time and lasted almost an hour. The flight was awesome, the pilot Jimmy gave a superb narrative, the views were unparallelled as over 70% of Kauai is inaccessible. A helicopter is the only way to see it all- 100's of waterfalls, burial places of Kings, early settlements, places where films were shot. All items you simply would not see (or even know about) from the ground. Flight was nice and long, almost an hour. Seemed pricey, but, what do I know? I am not rich, it takes me a week to make enough money to pay for two tickets here.

Thank you Blue Hawaiian for making my first helicopter ride a spectacular experience! Everything went smoothly starting w/ check-in all the way to check-out.   We had a wonderful pilot named Vincent, who had just retired from flying for military after 20 some years and just joined B.H. in November.  He was super mellow and insightful while giving us a tour. He also made sure to rotate the helicopter at key sites to ensure everyone had a great view.   I also chose Blue Hawaiian because of the unique helicopter they flew - bigger and more comfortable.  Try them out. You won't regret it.

(4.5) ~ Very Good...just wish it was easier to find "free" parking.

It's all about perspective.  I thought I appreciated the depth and grandeur of Waimea Canyon from the lookout point we drove to a few days prior.  I thought I grasped the height and steepness of the Napali cliffs from the catamaran tour I went on a few years prior.  And I thought seeing 7 waterfalls lining the northern facing mountains from Hwy 56 through Princeville was more than I'd ever see in a lifetime.  But a helicopter ride proved me wrong.  We got to see so much of the island's most scenic wonders in one sitting that I found myself wondering if I was actually just in some 3D-Imax simulator.  Because it's that peaceful and comfortable too--with A/C, a relatively quiet cabin apart from pilot narration and adventurous music (i.e. the theme song from Indiana Jones at lift-off).  A pleasant surprise and highlight of the tour was a 360-degree flight through the volcanic crater of Mt. Waialeale, which at the time was capped with a cloud layer that made experience even more surreal.   In retrospect, it really is the most efficient way to see the island, which kinda makes the expense almost trivial.  You invest in what is important to you.  And for me, an experience such as this which increases my awe and amazement of nature, and therefore its creator, is priceless.  I praise God for this aerial perspective of one of His most beautiful islands--it was like one (infinitely small) step closer to what God sees. :)

Good experience overall. I can't compare to any other company because this is the only helicopter ride I've taken. I was impressed with the helpers who prepared us, drove us to the airport, and loaded us on the helicopter. They were friendly, pleasant, patient. The pilot -- the only woman pilot on the island! -- was great. A smooth ride, good explanations, nice soothing voice. Gorgeous views, of course, and a comfortable flight. I didn't like the Blue Hawaiian customer experience in the office, though, where you check in. We came in and were completely ignored for at least 10 minutes. Just standing there at the counter, not sure who we were supposed to be talking to, where to check in. The counter girl just kept answering the phone over and over without even holding up a "just a minute" finger or telling us to go sit down. It was awkward. The girl by the door was no help, either. She didn't even say hello to us when we walked in. Considering how much money you spend on a trip like this, you expect a certain level of service when you walk in -- at least a "Hello, sit over there and we'll check you in in a few minutes." As I said above, however, the rest of the staff was excellent and friendly. One more complaint: The shuttle van they used to transport us to the airport was hideous. It was a large van with several bench rows of seating. We had to cram 12 people plus the driver into this van and the people in the way back (me) were really smushed back there. Plus car sick. And hot. And claustrophobic. I'd really like to see them use an appropriate shuttle for 13 adults.

What's more beautiful than the glory of a circular rainbow? A Double Glory A helicopter tour is definitely a must do in Hawaii. The tour lasted approximately an hour and the sights were breathtaking. Kauai is absolutely beautiful and majestic. Seeing it from above is spectacular; sometimes beauty can't be verbalized. Blue Hawaiian is 5 stars all the way. Everyone, from the ground crew to the pilot were super friendly and professional. The pilot was experienced, charming and very knowledgeable. The suitcase containing my DVD was lost and Blue Hawaiian sent out a replacement to me in less than a week.

We enjoyed our tour guide Brad immensely and the service, however after spending so much money to fly it was disappointing to have a heavy, big, person in the front seat in white pants. The reflection of her pants made it frustrating to take pictures. Perhaps when someone does wear white clothing ( after being told the day before not to by the company) give them a black sheet to wear over their legs or put them in the middle in the back seat but not by the front  window! Personally.we enjoyed the boat tour more of the Na Pali coast then the helicopter. If you are debating between the two,go one the boat because you're sure to see well and not have limited viewing - and it's cheaper and a much longer ride.

We had done a Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour on the big island and had a really wonderful time, but the Kauai tour was unbelievable! The day was kind of overcast and we were afraid we wouldn't see anything but were pleasantly surprised. We flew over the entire island and got spectacular views looking at like a million waterfalls, the gorgeous canyon, and the coast. Our pilot Michael was very friendly and took the tour slow allowing us to take pictures and just enjoy the trip. This tour is a must if you're in Kauai.

This was an excellent way to see the island. We did it the first day and it really gives you a unique perspective of how truly special Kauai is. Be prepared that you might get sick (a few of us did), so I would recommend meds beforehand if you're prone to that. With that said, it was still a wonderful experience!!

This was easily the highlight of our trip. From the moment you drive up, you get the feeling Blue Hawaiian is a more professional operation than the other companies, which appear to operate out of tents. BH has a very nice, clean building from which guests depart. Weather conditions caused our appointment to be cancelled twice, and each time, the staff was great about re-scheduling us. Our pilot was Marty, and he had a lot of knowledge about the island and made us feel totally comfortable. Schedule your flight early in your trip so you have ample opportunity to reschedule...the weather can be really unpredictable.

My boyfriend, brother and I took a Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour on Sunday and it was the first helicopter ride for all of us. Although helicopter tours are pricey (FYI these guys are competitively priced), if you can splurge, I'd highly recommend it. It's absolutely the best way to see the island and you get to see magnificent scenery you'd never be able to see any other way. The helicopter we were in was new and very comfortable but also offered great views because it has huge windows in front & on both sides. Also of note, our pilot - Jafri I think he said - was great. Knowledgeable, friendly & able to answer all our questions. I highly recommend this company!

The only way to see Kauai... literally the only way to see most of the island is via helicopter.   Blue Hawaiian was recommended to us and they were great.  Geoffry the pilot was a pro and did a great job showing us around.  Helicopters were modern with tons of windows to get those pictures. Video of your trip was available for about $25 bucks after, not a bad deal because you can't possibly take it all in on one trip. Expensive but par for the course and worth it.  Had a great time, might try them on another island whenever I go back!

Awesome! Awesome! Highly recommend blue hawaiian helicopter tours. My husband and I did the kauai tour on our honeymoon and had the most amazing views with Brandon our pilot. Staff was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Felt very safe the whole trip. Be sure to wear black and bring a good camera.

Absolutely recommend! Do it! Do it! Do it! I have to say I was initially weary about a helicopter ride but gave in after reading great reviews and hearing the concierge talk about what a view it would be. We booked through our concierge and there were openings for every day morning and afternoon. We opted for an early morning flight. By booking through our concierge we also received a free DVD along with a free tshirt as a nice souvenir. You arrive about 45 minutes before your allotted flight, check in, and watch a safety video. The seats are assigned based on height and weight and we initially were very much hoping for front seats so that our pictures and views would be amazing, but were assigned one window and one middle seat in the second row (every party is guaranteed one window seat). Even though I was reluctant about being in the second row, the floor to ceiling windows in this helicopter are amazing and really give everyone a great view--no matter which seat. Our pilot Marty was very informative, engaging and made everyone feel at ease. The sights were amazing. There is no better way to see the coast, the canyon and the interior of the island. We had driven to some of the sights prior to the helicopter and seeing it from the sky was absolutely jaw dropping. The pictures I took both on the iPhone and the gopro came out great despite being through the window. We all wore dark shirts as recommended to help with the photos (wear dark bottoms as well as light skin legs reflect in the pictures as well). We all came back an hour later absolutely amazed. I was so thankful I agreed to do this and I would definitely do the tour again--worth every dollar!
