Ethan did an amazing job. We got a great view of the lava flow and was very impressed with his knowledge of the area, biology, and flying abilities :)

We chose Blue Hawaiian due to a recommendation in a guide book and we were not disappointed. They have a first class operation. Their Eco-Star helicopters have larger windows than most other operators and it made for amazing views. They assign seats based on weight distribution. If you are lucky (like my wife and daughter), you will get up front. Next best is rear right window (best views are inland on the right, though he does occasionally rotate the helicopter for 360 views). I had the rear window left, which was still pretty good. My son had the inside left side, which was the worst view, but he still loved it. Mark did an excellent job flying us and describing everything. The ride was very smooth. We saw the coastline, Waimea canyon (outstanding!), the famous Jurassic Park falls, the exotic Na Pali coast, and took us into the mouth of the extinct volcano at the center of the island. While we were at the Na Pali coast, Mark took us out to sea a little bit and we spotted a whale. Although they provided music on the headphones, Mark was talking about what we were seeing nearly the entire time. They have four cameras recording your flight - 3 outside and one facing in. It is definitely work the small price to pay for the recording of your adventure.

We took the Big Island Spectacular. Absolutely fantastic experience. Saw lava bubbling and flow into the ocean. Beautiful island views, waterfalls, landing at a waterfall, whales in the ocean. Our pilot Marco rocks!

It's the second time we fly with Blue Hawaiian and we are super impressed with how friendly the pilots are. It's a very positive experience. This year, we took our two daughters on the trip and they are so in awe of what they saw. Our pilot Chad, who has young kids was super nice to ours! We hope to come again in a few years. Mahalo!
