Our pilot, Marty, was a fantastic pilot and commentator. The experience highlighted the diversity of Kauai as we flew through the canyons and over the mountains past waterfalls, past a rainbow, over the cattle and along the trails that snake through the mountains. My husband and I felt safe and totally amazed at the beauty around us. It was a great way to experience Kauai!
Tim was an awesome pilot. We had a great time and he put on a great tour. #Firstie first helicopter trip!
Rick was our pilot and he was the best. Very informative and personal. Highly recommend this tour with Rick to friends and family.
Pleasant staff from booking on the phone, check in, loading, flying, and post flight. Rick was friendly and informative. Great experience.
Our experience was extraordinary. Marco, our pilot, went the extra mile to show us the import sights: flowing lava, surface lava, waterfalls, and valleys that we would never see without his knowledge. Thank you Blue Hawaiian for a great time.
absolutely breathtaking experience. A much do....pretty awesome pilot and cute at that.
My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary in Hawaii Island (aka Big Island) aboard the Blue Hawaiian Helicopters Eco-Star Big Island Spectacular! We selected Blue Hawaiian as our helicopter flight operator because of Blue's 30+ year reputation throughout the islands, track record of safety, and the awards the company has been recognized with for its standard of excellence. This was the 2nd time I have flown in a helicopter, the first time with Safari Helicopters in Kauai. Blue Hawaiian truly was the "Cadillac of helicopters!" Phenomenal customer service over the phone and in person, and the Kona office was immaculately clean (even the bathrooms!) They focus heavily on flight safety and make sure everyone watches the safety video. You can tell right away what makes Blue Hawaiian a premier flight operator and the best in Hawaii compared to some of the smaller companies. The 2 hour Big Island Spectacular tour flew us over the Kilauea volcano bubbling lava, lava flowing into the ocean at the East Rift zone of Kilauea, breathtaking Hamakua Coast, cascading waterfalls of Waimanu Valley, cattle ranches of the north coast, and the beautiful Kohala Coast. There are so many hidden valleys and places like Kilauea Volcano you can only see flying, so a helicopter tour is truly the best way to see the Big Island. Karl our pilot was extremely fun, upbeat, and knowledgeable about all of the sites he flew us to. He played trivia on the flight, and kept the tour engaging. What I appreciated was that he made sure all parties aboard could see the views on the left and right sides by alternating the helicopter's position mid air for ALL sites. Highly recommend the Big Island Spectacular Tour aboard Blue Hawaiian's Eco-Star for a trip of a lifetime in a luxurious aircraft. It truly is the best way to see the Big Island, and other islands! Keep in mind flights are not cheap (over $1,000 total for 2 people for the Big Island Spectacular) but they are worth every penny for special occasions if you want this once in a lifetime experience. Tip: If you are Kama'aina make sure you use your Hawaii state IDs for resident rates. Our Kama'aina rates knocked off $300 total from the total bill.
Nice ride and beautiful view of the volcano and the waterfalls. The pilot was very friendly and knew all of our names.
I'm the first to admit...helicopters are scary. I went on one in Alaska a few years back, and I had my eyes closed the entire time. This time was so much different! The 2 hours flew by (pun intended), and it was absolutely amazing. Our pilot, Gregg, made us at ease, and I will never forget this adventure. Highly recommend!!
It was cheaper to book our excursion from home than with the cruise. The people were knowledgeable and helpful and the airport was easy to get to get to. The pilot gave everybody on both sides of the helicopter an opportunity to take good pictures of the lava flow. It was a beautiful day to fly.
I was hesitant, I can't ride a Ferris wheel without getting queasy, boy was I wrong, the way the staff prepares you, the demonstrations then getting strapped into the helicopter, I was completely at ease. The views are phenomenal, the skies were clear and our pilot explained everything in sight. A must do trip when you are unable to drive or hike into the great canyon. The waterfalls and peaks seem very close. We highly recommend this company.
Yes, it is a splurge - but if you were going to pick one thing to go big on, this is the one. For starters, it is the only way to see the erupting volcano up close. The helicopters literally fly over it for a view of gurgling lava. You can also see the different states of lava flow from red to shiny black, to hardened matte black and the sheer magnitude of damage its inflicted on the landscape. Another highlight is seeing the lava exit into the ocean in a dramatic display of steam. And that's just the start. The return trip features the lush side of the island with many cascading waterfalls, incredible cliffs and jungle landscape. We were also lucky enough to see whales from above through the crystal blue water. The vantage point was one that we will never forget. It's a popular tourist attraction and unfortunately I was only able to book an opening at the end of my trip. I wish I had started with the helicopter overview of the island.
Scott is a great pilot we saw lots of lava it was incredible the windows had very good views we would definitely go back
I have been a professional pilot (fixed wing) for over 12 years and have flown in over 70 countries and this flight Wowed my wife and I, we had a wonderful flight and will remember it forever. Thank you to the whole team, great job
My husband and I took our first helicopter ride out of Hilo to see the volcanoes. We also got to see several waterfalls from the air. Our helicopter pilot immediately put us at ease and said "sit back and relax like it was a Sunday drive in the country". It was a very smooth ride. There were two people up front with the pilot and then four of us on the 2nd row. When we got to one of the points of interest to see, the pilot made sure that each side of the airplane got to go by it on their side. I was very please with that. It was thrilling seeing the lava in several places in Volcanoes National Park - truly a once in a lifetime event. Then we got to see several beautiful waterfalls. This was definitely one of the highlights to our trip to the Big Island!
