Amazing!

My eighth trip to the islands, but the first time doing the helicopters. Figured I'd spring for my daughter, wife, and our visiting foreign exchange student. It was GREAT! Don't let weather fool you, as drizzle or mist is actually good, it makes the waterfalls better. Had a little trouble hearing the pilot a few times, but honestly, the view is mesmerizing so who cares! We were 4 people and another couple joined us. The computer seats you by weight, so there's no choice there, but the views are awesome from all seats. Also, fully temp controlled. Saw Na Pili, Wiamea Canyon, Hanalei Bay (and our rented condo below), Fantasy Island waterfalls, and Mount Waialeale, the wettest place on earth! It's pricey, but worth it for an unforgettable ride. Can't use iPads in the copter, or have bags (lockers provided), but handheld cameras and phone cameras are okay. Charge batteries have have 55 minutes of space ready! If you are a bit queasy just take a Dramamine before and you'll be fine. Also, for $40 they will sell you a great video of your own ride, handed to you on a flash drive.

I was a little hesitant to do this as relatives had gone on a helicopter tour before in Oahu and had very bad motion sickness, which I am prone to. I booked it as a gift for my husband. I did take Bonine the night before and that morning and also wore one of the motion sickness bands. Luckily, I didn't have any problems and enjoyed the tour immensely!! Our tour was great and our pilot did a great commentary. Kauai has such a vast array of landscapes the helicopter tour was a great way to enjoy seeing all of them from the waterfalls, canyon, jungle, ocean...truly beautiful! Days later when we were hiking the canyon trail and saw all the other helicopter companies flying through the canyon, my husband noticed some would make more "bank" turns with the helicopter, which I think he would have preferred, but being prone to motion sickness, I was glad that Blue Hawaiian tries to make it a smooth, gentle ride for all of their passengers. I would highly recommend this as a once in a lifetime experience.
