Best view of the island you can get
Big Island - Hilo

We went our first day, and it was a good chance to see the big picture of the island. We did the volcanoes and waterfall tour, and it's pretty much the only way you'll see active lava flow. The waterfalls aren't too exciting, but the view of the volcanoes make it worth the money. Our pilot was friendly and well informed. The ride was smooth, and my wife who has some trouble with planes and boats had no trouble even without motion sickness meds.

Experience of a lifetime
Big Island - Hilo

This is the only way to see the volcano and waterfalls. I have been to the Big Island several times and seen the volcano from the ground(still a good time), but to see it from the air for the first time was incredible. Blue Hawaiian Helicopters was one of the most professional organizations we have dealt with. They were friendly, knowledgeable and Jeremy was an exceptional tour guide and pilot....this excursion made our trip!!

The Ultimate Helicopter and Waterfall Adventure
Big Island - Hilo

The final part of the tour The Ultimate Helicopter and Waterfall Adventure was a helicopter ride over the Big Island's active volcano Kilauea. It was an amazing sight to see the extent of the lava flow - and especially to fly around the actual volcano, spewing smoke and lava. Colleen was our pilot and she made sure it didn't matter where you were sitting in the helicopter you got to see it all. I thoroughly recommend this tour.

Worth every penny!
Big Island - Hilo

The Circle of Fire helitour with Blue Hawaiian should be on everyone's bucket list. If you get Ethan for your pilot you are in for a great experience. Don't even think about it anymore. If you can afford it, you have to do it!

Circle of Fire and Waterfalls--Excellent
Big Island - Waikoloa

Went on the Circle of Fire and Waterfalls flight with Pilot Scott. Scott was an excellent, knowledgeable pilot. He made sure everyone in the helicopter was at ease and comfortable. He would fly around a sight, then turn around so the people on the other side of the helicopter had the same view--everyone saw everything. It was not just a fly-by where you saw what you saw and that was it. We saw new land being formed as the lava was flowing. On the way back Scott had us over some beautiful waterfalls, then over the bay where we saw many whales. Overall a great flight. I will be back to do this again the next time.

A Thrill
Big Island - Waikoloa

We weren't sure about the cost and the dollar tanked but I will remember this experience forever. The Blue Hawaii Helicopter team run an excellent safe business. We were able to see Lava in the caldera ! Steve was our Pilot ,his life experience and perspective was very engaging. We love Hawaii even more because we have a bigger picture of how she came about and is evolving. We did buy the video which is of very high quality and a good memory. Costco in Kona does have 20% off coupons very easy to use.Make sure you buy enough coupons ie every 100.00 is one coupon.

Wow. Well worth the money
Big Island - Waikoloa

We had wanted to do the 2 hour tour which included the volcano, but the morning of our trip the weather was too bad and we couldn't fly there. We were very disappointed. Tried to find another time but nothing available prior to our leaving. We were offered the 1 hour trip and at first I didn't want to do it because I really wanted to see the volcano. But my husband talked me into it and I am Very glad he did. What an amazing time. Our pilot, Greg, was great (go Ducks). The scenery was amazing and we actually saw more whales from the helicopter than we did on our whale watching trip. Next year when we come back, I plan on making reservations early and plan on also seeing the volcano. I will be sure and use this company again. Dore e L

Circle of Fire & Waterfall tour
Big Island - Hilo

We took this tour on 10-9-14, with our extended family group of 4 adults, an 8 year old and 5 year old. In past visits, we've been able to hike out to active flows to watch the lava flow into the ocean; the current flow was inaccessible, so we booked the flight in advance (at a savings). Colleen was our pilot and she was great; she patiently answered all of the children's questions in clear language. For the full hour, she kept them (& us) entertained with her knowledge of volcanoes. We've taken many flight tours with other companies in other places, but were impressed with her professionalism. The waterfall view was limited, but that really wasn't the focus of our trip.

Worth the money
Big Island - Hilo

My wife debated about what we considered to a rather extravagant expenditure, but after taking the 2 hour big island tour, it was wonderful! No buyers remorse on this one. Staff was professional and courteous, equipment was clean, pilot was very knowledgable. Should be on every visitors bucket list.

Amazing Ride
Big Island - Hilo

We took the Circle of Fire tour on Oct. 2, and enjoyed every minute of it. Our pilot was Eric, and he was fantastic, very informative. I had never been in a helicopter before, what a great way to start. We bought the DVD but it frequently stops then restarts a few moments back, annoying but still good to have to remember the trip. When we were assigned to a group, there were 2 couples with young unruly children. Thankfully, Blue Hawaii put them together. The family that was in our helicopter was also very appreciative not to be on their flight. Thank you Blue Hawaii and Eric for making a memorable highlight of our Hawaiian vacation.

Fantastic!
Big Island - Hilo

We did the 'circle of fire' 50 min tour from Hilo. We flew over the active volcano and saw live lava as well as many older lava flows. Our wonderful pilot Scott was very informative (and funny!) in telling us about the lava and how it had formed new land over the past 30 years. We had plenty of opportunity to ask any questions we wanted using the microphones and headsets. You could see heaps from the helicopter - fantastic views of the ocean, cliffs, steam vents and waterfalls on the other side of Hilo. You are a little squished into the helicopter but there's air conditioning so it's quite comfortable. Certainly felt very safe (after feeling a little anxious about going up). Loved this helicopter tour! Would highly recommend it to anyone.

Once in a lifetime experience
Big Island - Hilo

Months prior to our first trip to Hawaii, I checked all helicopter service offers available. Some companies are cheaper than Blue Hawaiian, but for some reason I put my trust into Blue Hawaiian due to their impressive website, clear instrucitons/conditions and it was the best decision ever. First we booked the Big Island Spectacular tour with an A-Star on the Big Island. On our selected day the trip was cancelled due to a technical issue of the helicopter - we were already on the way to the heliport. It was not pleasant, but this can happen anytime anywhere (even with taxi, bus, plane etc.). They offered alternate days, but only one date/time could fit for us. They made it happen and we also get a free-of-charge upgrade to an Eco-star. The staff was extremly supportive, friendly and professional. Blue Hawaiian assigns sits based on weight - it is also clearly communicated on their website -, we got sits in the back. Honestly, we could also see everything perfectly. Our pilot was Toshi, he was an excellent host and is an amizing pilot, he did care of all passengers on his helicopter. He asked us, what we would like to see and if there is anything particular we do not want to miss. I specifically asked to see the new lava flow heading to Pahoa and he made extra circules to see it. It does not matter, where you sit, because the pilot will show each attractions from the right and left side as well. We did see lava flows and several beautiful waterfalls from pretty close - the move of the helicopter really close to the waterfalls together the perfectly selected songs brought some tears into our eyes. We had nice coversations with Toshi and we also get very useful information about the Island and it's history. We got a 5 star service and we saw everything we wanted. The only disturbing thing were the window reflections, but it was due to other passengers, who were wearing light clothing - despite of the clear instructions from Blue Hawaiian (all is kindly requested to wear dark T-shirts). Our first tour could have not been better. On Maui we booked the Complete Island tour on an Eco-star. We were waiting for our helicopter when we got informed that the weather changed unexpectedly - Haleakala and Hana cannot be seen due to heavy rain and wind. We had 3 options: made an alternate tour, select new date/time or get refund. We decided to come back a day later, when the weather was just perfect. On this tour we got the front sits. In the front sits you have the panels blocking your view, so both the back and front sits have advantages and disadvantages. On this tour our pilot was Tim, he is also a very professional pilot and drove the helicopter with strong hands. He made some breath-taking turns in the valleys and very close to the waterfalls. We had exactly the same experience as you can see from the promo-videos. Close to the volcano, we were surprised since the helicopter landed.... and that moment we realized, that we got a free-of-charge upgrade due to the inconveniences (we had to drive to the heliport 2x and paid for parking 2x). So we were taken to a Maui Spectacular tour - what an excellent support! All tours are recorded with multiple external and one internal camera, so you can get a video about your trip for 25$ on DVD/SD-card or Blue-ray.... which is excellent value for money. A Manta-ray or dolphin snorkelling video costs 60-70$ in Hawaii. We are more than satisfied with Blue Hawaiian, we had our "once in a lifetime" experience that we will never forget. Thank you!

Excellent adventure!
Big Island - Waikoloa

Seeing so many sights that one cannot see from car or on foot was incredible! Our pilot, Toshi, was humorous and kind. We had such a wonderful time watching the sunrise over the mountain and seeing active lava and waterfalls. There was not a better way to welcome turning 50!

Amazing views
Big Island - Waikoloa

It was a wonderful trip, once in a lifetime! Amazing views that can only be appreciated from the air. Soundtrack they play during the trip is cool, queued to the sights as you go along. Only problem is that if you get a "chatty Cathy" on the trip like we did, it will also be on your recording of the trip that they make. Oh well, I would still do it all again in a heartbeat. It's only been a week and I miss it already

Why hike when you can fly.
Big Island - Waikoloa

There is no way to view the active volcano on foot, or see fresh lava flow. The helicopter tour is exceptional. We circled Kilaeau, with Scott our pilot giving us views from both sides of the helicopter, along with very educational information concerning it, the lava tubes, as well as the cliffs, valleys and waterfalls on the north side of the island. The north Kohala sea cliffs with the waterfalls were just spectacular. I can hardly wait for an extended vacation to hike back in there to experience one of the waterfalls in person. The Big Island Spectacular tour lived up to its preview. Make sure you secure a Holo Holo discount card to save some $$.
